What are some good hand wash/soap makes?

I like things like Molton Brown/Aesop/Malin & Goetz but I can’t justify £30-40 on stuff that goes down the plug hole!

There must be some good makes out there that are priced more like £10 but cut out all the expense of marketing themselves as a status symbol?

I’d love to know this too. I usually just go for Carex. It’s nice enough, just not luxurious

NeedToKnow101 · 12/01/2025 16:16

Try TK Maxx...

username299 · 12/01/2025 16:17

I use Scottish Fine soaps.

I like the Ineos hand soaps, Ocado sells them. Cheap, nice mild fragrance and don't dry my hands. I decant into a pretty dispenser.

dementedpixie · 12/01/2025 16:19

I quite like some of the Baylis and Harding ones. I have to give them a sniff test in the supermarket before buying them

Soontobe60 · 12/01/2025 16:19

Lidl do a great Aesop dupe - smells divine!

ThePoshUns · 12/01/2025 16:32

I was going to say Lidl, and not just the dupes. I like all of their hand washes.

DancingMirren · 12/01/2025 16:38

I also like Scottish Fine Soaps - I know it’s not was you’ve asked for, but their sea kelp soap bar is lovely, about £7 smells amazing and lasts forever.

Also Arran Aromatics products.

cashmerecardigans · 12/01/2025 16:46

Another vote for Lidl Aesop dupes here, they are lovely

fivebyfivebuffy · 12/01/2025 16:48

This smells way more expensive than it is

supermarket own brand in a molten brown bottle. Like you say, it goes down the sink.

Iamthemoom · 12/01/2025 17:10

M&S do nice ones relatively cheaply. Nothing beats Aesop though. To be fair while pricey they are huge and last ages. I ask for it for Xmas/birthdays or get it when I have a space nk discount.

Chemenger · 12/01/2025 17:11

We have pears hand wash, lots of people comment on how nice it is, even though it’s not at all luxe.

Flubadubba · 12/01/2025 17:13

Inreally like the Method ones. They smell fabulous, and come out of the dispenser as foam, which feels lovely.

BuzzieLittleBee · 12/01/2025 17:14

We use Smol. It comes with a reusable dispenser and a set of tablets that you dissolve to make the hand-wash. It's a really light foam which feels lovely on your hands and doesn't dry them out. And it lasts ages.

nodogz · 12/01/2025 17:15

M&S. do a nice range called "calm" but I agree that Aesop lasts ages and is worth it as a luxury. I have general stuff for kids in the downstairs loo as well as Aesop and it lasts about 18 months using this method.

I do let kids use the posh soap now and again and enjoy the reverence they give it!

ilovelamp82 · 12/01/2025 17:17

Bath & Body works. They sell them in Next now.

MissKittyFantastico84 · 12/01/2025 17:25

I really rate the brand Yope, which is now sold through Amazon.

Really good quality and natural but interesting scents - specifically Linden for me. Bottles are attractive too, if not quite Aesop. Grin

ShowAndGo · 12/01/2025 17:29

Soapsmith is lovely.

Scentedjasmin · 12/01/2025 17:33

Dr Bromners soaps are amazing! Esp the lavender and peppermint ones.

weebarra · 12/01/2025 17:34

I love Scottish Fine soaps and the Highland Soap co.
There's also a lovely soap shop in Whitby!

StormingNorman · 12/01/2025 17:36

Method
Roger & Gallett

familyissues12345 · 12/01/2025 17:38

I like the method hand washes, the lavender one is my favourite (no, I'm not 80!)

DS2 is allergic to most hand washes, so he uses the E45 hand wash which he likes

Phoenix9 · 12/01/2025 17:41

I use two:

Bath & Body works (from next) - cherry blossom
And the neat (online direct )refillable ones

Any advice on which ones to choose?

OP, I find Faith in Nature's Lavender and Geranium, Wild Rose or Grapefruit and Orange are lovely. About £6 a bottle. They also do a tea tree, a dragon fruit and a mint liquid hand soaps, but I haven't tried any of those.
