I need to feel happy for people - what's your good news this week? What's cheered you up and what do you have to celebrate?

Its Friday

brassandswitch · 10/01/2025 17:51

Friday thank god

MyDeepZebra · 10/01/2025 17:52

The lines on my Covid test are getting fainter so if I can get rid of the chest infection, I might be able to leave the house for the first time this year without fear of killing someone's grandpa.

OurDreamLife · 10/01/2025 17:52

Another vote for it’s Friday.

DH has been working in his own project living off his savings but last spring decided needed to raise more money to get into marketing stage so he started looking for a contract but the market was totally dead and he had no interest from recruiters whatsoever until finally an interview just before Christmas. And he's been offered the contract, just as I was starting to think about how I'd have to cut down on spending so we could manage on my salary.

Also I've just got a £600 repayment off HMRC.

It’s been 8 days since I smoked my last cigarette. Not been able to say that for 20 years 😁

Neveranynamesleft · 10/01/2025 17:53

Won a fiver on lottery 😀

coldscottishmum · 10/01/2025 17:54

I’ve done my first ever full week solo parenting whilst DH is away from home for an extended period of time. I have a teething baby and 5 year old. I’ve felt weirdly proud of myself this week, we’re a team when it comes to the children and we miss him a lot. However - we have all coped absolutely fine and we’ve actually had a lovely week despite missing DH.

wonderstuff · 10/01/2025 17:54

Fairly productive week, I’m delighted it’s Friday. I got a new job before Christmas but don’t start until after easter, one more week down, 11 to go..

LittleRedRidingHoody · 10/01/2025 17:56

What a lovely thread! I'm excited to see what others share and @tootiredtoocare I hope if you didn't have anything this week, you'll have something next week 😊

Mine is kind of admin related, but I'm thrilled 😂 DM is desperate to travel with us (me and DS5) this year but has a terminal prognosis - I've been trying to get her insurance for a while and kept getting rejected, but finally got approved for annual cover this week - YAY! - so can now get my planning hat on 🤩

@chouxchoux thats brilliant well done!

Mooselooseinmyhoose · 10/01/2025 17:58

I have accidentally got a promotion I didn't realise I had applied for! No extra money but extra glory! As someone with huge imposter syndrome it's nice to feel competent for once.

wonderstuff · 10/01/2025 17:58

@LittleRedRidingHoody thats excellent, enjoy planning your travels.

bluebalou · 10/01/2025 17:59

It's Friday and I've just got £981 back from sale of previous house from mortgage company, a year and a half after, very unexpectedly but welcome 🤗

Well done on staying productive, I swear I become accidentally incompetent when working out my notice - not sure I'd make it 12 weeks 😂 Happy weekend!

squashyhat · 10/01/2025 18:01

I'm off to Goa for 3 weeks tomorrow 😎

X72 · 10/01/2025 18:08

Flu has kept me to my bed this week, but even if I wanted to get food in we have been cut off from the shops by floodwater. I struggled as far as the end of the lane this afternoon only to find some motorist had squashed a fox overnight.

Luckily we have some garlic, ginger and pak choi in the fridge so I am going to make a nice 'foxy stir fry' which we will have with a claret.

QueSyrahSyrah · 10/01/2025 18:08

Me, DH and our 7 month old have all been stuck in the house all week with an awful cold / possible covid / flu in DH's case so my tentative good news is that surely it must be on the way out now and I'll have had more than 2 hours sleep in a row and will no longer want to rip my own face off by Monday?

Snafoo · 10/01/2025 18:09

My dog stayed home alone content for 2 and a half hours today! His new record. Separation anxiety training has been tough. I could cry with relief for both of us

atiaofthejulii · 10/01/2025 18:23

Some excellent news listed here!

Can't imagine foxes really taste good? Saw a pretty large deer on the side of the road this morning, could have been eating venison tonight 😁

Today I got a really good mark on my last uni essay, so feeling very pleased with myself.

StressedEric · 10/01/2025 18:43

My kids dad got a new job yesterday ( after 3 interviews and a panel presentation) after losing his last one due to redundancy in November . Off out for a family Sunday lunch to celebrate. 🥳

Tisfortired · 10/01/2025 18:46

I’ve been looking for PT work for about a year since my youngest turned one. I have an interview next week at a place that is a 2 minute walk from my house, 20 hours a week (2 long days on Mon and Fri) and pays not much less than I was earning FT. I had a 10 minute phone call with the manager today which went really well. I have all my fingers and toes crossed for this job!

I've had Bell's palsy since 20th dec and my face has been paralysed, but today I can flare my nostril and half close my eye 🎉
