Has anyone used pay weekly carpets? Are they any good? Thanks

It’s really odd that you are insisting on buying new carpets despite saying you are struggling , desperate and have bad credit rating ?

carpets are luxury things you buy when you have money and can shop around
they are not a necessity?

too odd ?

HRTQueen · 10/01/2025 19:47

I found them ok not the best carpets but better than I expected

I know I am paying over what I would if I saved but I am not in a position to and off cuts actually worked out quite a bit more than expected

concreted floors so rugs wasn’t an option

OurDreamLife · 10/01/2025 19:47

I’ve never used them but I’ve seen TikTok videos about them letting customers down and leaving them with no flooring for weeks.

I went with an independent shop. The whole house was supplied with carpet, vinyl, underlay and fitting for £1500. May not be as expensive as you think to do a room at a time with a decent company. My flooring is perfect - I see no reason to spend that per room.

I've known people move into council houses with no carpets. If there are not any carpets I'm not sure I would put them in the "luxury" bracket in 2024 Britain.

Hope you get some useful posts soon OP, lots of people talking from a place of privilege on this thread I assume.

poor people like their homes to look nice too

ConsuelaHammock · 10/01/2025 19:54

These types of places prey on the vulnerable and those who can’t cope with delayed gratification. Save up and go to an independent carpet shop. Buy the end of the rolls. Ask on local freecyle pages for some second hand rugs to tide you over in the meantime?

JustKeepSwimmingJust · 10/01/2025 19:58

Put a cheap rug over the worst of it and start saving. If you can afford the £££ of paying it back over two years or however long you will soon have the ££ for a local carpet fitter. I sympathise, but going down that route is taking yourself in debt.

Debenhams is currently doing big rugs for about £50. I'd get some rugs, cover up the carpet and recarpet room by room when you have the money.

Yes they are a luxury. No wonder so many people are in debt if this is people’s mindset.

Safe flooring isn’t a luxury, ffs. Hardboard floors are meant to be covered up - they’re not like floorboards in older houses.

I’m not saying get into debt to dodgy companies to carpet your house but wanting flooring is not unreasonable!

ItsCalledAConversation · 10/01/2025 20:14

We got 0% from Tapi Carpets, they’ve been very good.

I have tatty stained carpet too , yes you do need to explain as your post was too vague and your thinking a bit odd so an explanation was necessary
my friends know I’m skint and when I have some spare cash I will do all the things around my home that need fixing, you have replied bluntly and rudely to every post , do you talk to people in real life like this ? , you asked a question I gave my honest answer
yes it’s nice to have your home how you want it but it’s not worth getting into debt for it
you seem determined to do whatever regardless of advice

I’m asking for reviews so why do I need to explain? Who are you? Ignoring you now.

There’s nothing ‘urgent’ about your situation! You want a new carpet and you’re trying to find out if there’s a quick way to get want you want right now. Save up for the carpet and don’t get yourself into debt/ pay over the odds for crap quality carpet. Hire a carpet cleaner ?

It’s beyond that unfortunately and yes it is urgent but I won’t be explaining why so if anyone has any reviews thanks.

My step daughter used them and they were fine, she said they weren't more expensive than anywhere else although I assume there was an interest cost added. We were actually paying and could have paid upfront but she said they were the cheapest.

Iloveshoes123 · 10/01/2025 20:24

She got hard flooring rather than carpets but they were fine with hers.

verycloakanddaggers · 10/01/2025 20:25

Carpets are not a luxury, but they're not essential either, as in you can wait. Except on stairs if dangerous.

The problem is these companies charge a lot more for the product, so if possible waiting makes sense.

Thank you that’s good to know! I guess I can always get a quote

FGS some of these replies are ridiculous. The op asked if anyone had used them not for a judgement on what she spends her money on. I don't think she was asking any of you to pay it back.

Iloveshoes123 · 10/01/2025 20:27

Mixed reviews on Trustpilot at 3.8 but a lot of the issues seem to be related to fitting. My SD bought the flooring from them but someone else fitted it for her so you might want to consider that.
