Who does your DC(s) look like?

FridgeJenga · 05/01/2025 09:09

Do they look more like

You?
Their dad?
A rare combination of both?
Neither, but a throwback to a previous generation?

A friend has two DCs of the same sex.
One is the absolute spit of her, the other is their dad in miniature - they think it's hilarious just how uncanny it is.

Mine goes - eldest is more like dad, youngest is more me.
Middlest is probs 75/25 in dad's favour.

She looks like my sister. Had I not been there actually giving birth to her, I'd question if she was actually mine.

ShiftySquirrel · 05/01/2025 10:04

DD1 looks like MIL and my grandpa's family.

DD2 is the spitting image of my mum. She looks a bit like me, but has looked most like mum from the second they lifted her up.

BeyondMyWits · 05/01/2025 10:04

Both of my Dds (22 and 24) look like my younger sister. Uncannily so.

Flubadubba · 05/01/2025 10:05

When she was born, DD looked like the spitting image of DH.

Now she apparently looks like me, but everyone who sees them together thinks that her cousins on DH's side are her siblings, so.... 🤷‍♀️

EdgeofSeventy · 05/01/2025 10:06

My daughter is my double. And her daughter is her double. Granddaughter was often mistaken for mine when we were out alone together 😁
Daughter and I did a thing that overlays your faces, our bone structure was almost identical. Poor kid 😂

dontforgetme · 05/01/2025 10:10

My dd looks like her dad but also like my mom when she was my DD's age.

My ds looks like his dad but also my dad and my brother.

No one ever tells me they look like me!

Mrscharlieeeee · 05/01/2025 10:18

DS1 is the spitting image of DH's younger brother but when he was a toddler he looked more like my side of the family.

DS2 looked like my brother as a baby and now is definitely more my side of the family on the maternal side. I wouldn't say he looks like any one person in particular though, he just has a look of me, my mum, brother and grandad.

Trinity69 · 05/01/2025 10:20

DS is me 100%. DD, I don’t actually know! Some people say me but I can’t see it and she looks nothing like her Dad as far as I can see. Genetics are weird. I’m 5’7 and their Dad is 5’6. DS is 6’ at 15. 🤷‍♀️

Favouritefruits · 05/01/2025 10:20

DS1 is a spitting image of his dad
DS2 is a mix of everyone but has my eyes and skin colour

Manchesterbythesea · 05/01/2025 10:20

My 4 are mostly like me. Dd16 is very dark haired and sallow like her dad but she still looks like me.

ClearFruit · 05/01/2025 10:21

All three look exactly like their father.

Fuelledbylatte · 05/01/2025 10:25

My 2 DDs look very dissimilar but both have my features in different ways; but maybe look like cousins than sisters.
My DS looks like his Dad but then also like his eldest sister.
Strange genetic mixes much but we do look like we're related

HPandthelastwish · 05/01/2025 10:27

My eyes, her dad's mouth shape and vision problems.
Ancestral hair - she recently dyed it brown like mine and we looked far more alike than her natural red.

ByDreamyMintNewt · 05/01/2025 10:28

DS1 looks a mix. Slightly favouring me, but with his dad's thick hair and upturned nose.
DD1 when she was first born looked disturbingly like her paternal great grandmother - she has a few of her behaviours I'd even say too. She has changed as she's got older but definitely favours that side.
DS2 is only 4 months old but thus far he is the spit of his dad. Every single feature.

Mayflyoff · 05/01/2025 10:32

Mine look like someone has shuffled DH and my features and then dealt them out to the two of them. So they look nothing alike and each have bits of us in them. Face shape seems to be the ultimate decider on which looks more like me/DH.

Devilsmommy · 05/01/2025 10:35

For the first year all I got was he looks like his dad. Now he's a toddler he looks exactly like I did at that age

piscofrisco · 05/01/2025 10:35

DD2 is my double snd people comment on it all the time. DD1 looks like their Dad although her face is the same shape as mine. She always gets a bit upset when people point it out as she would rather look like her sister and I - I think she feels left out :(

Hoppinggreen · 05/01/2025 10:38

It varies
DD was very like DH when born but less now, although she does look a bit like SIL. I am very dark and she is blonde but I remember she had wet hair so it looked dark and I thought she was a bit like me. Sometimes I can see it when she laughes or similar
DS is very tall and built like DH and people do say he's like his Dad, especially if he is wearing his glasses BUT when I look at baby photos of me I can see him

SallyWD · 05/01/2025 10:40

My children are half Indian and I'm white so they have their dad's colouring (although lighter skin). I'd say my daughter has a resemblance to my MIL and DH's sisters. She has a similar shaped face and the same smile. At certain though I can see myself in her. When she does certain expressions.
My son is more like my side of the family. He looks a bit like me and my brother, but also some similarities to DH as a boy. He has my MIL'S lovely nose!

user2848502016 · 05/01/2025 10:43

Both look like a mix of both but eldest DD looks more like DH and youngest looks like me but with DH's hair colour!

I look a lot like my paternal grandmother but also look like my mum which is weird!

I don't look similar enough to any of my siblings for someone to know we were siblings without being told.

Sassybooklover · 05/01/2025 10:45

My son looks mainly like my husband! Although he has my shaped eyes, long fingers/toes, paler skin tone - all of which is me! The rest is his Dad!!

mewkins · 05/01/2025 10:46

Dd look like me. But also has my mannerisms etc. DS probably looks like his dad but at the same time you can see he and sister are siblings.

It was a bit like that with me and my sister. I looked like my mum, she looked like my dad, but everyone says we look alike 😁

DisforDarkChocolate · 05/01/2025 10:49

1 More like their Dad but surprisingly still blond (no idea where that is from)
2 Like my Dad but different colouring, never noticed this till my Dad's funeral and someone pointed it out.
3 Mostly like me, someone once mistook us for sisters (she was not happy)
4 Their Dad but didn't get his lovely green eyes, he got my longer legs (his Dad has a longer body)

HellofromJohnCraven · 05/01/2025 11:21

Eldest and youngest DHs side of the family. Youngest is the absolute image of his mun as a teenager.
Middle one is utterly my side of the family, specifically my dad's side.

Mumof1andacat · 05/01/2025 11:23

My ds looked like me as a baby. Through childhood, he looked like his dad, and now, as a tween, looks like my dad. My dh nephew, as a toddler was was just like my dh. My dh is just like his grandad as he's getting older, and his brother looks like their grandma. I have my dads face and my mums body! Genetics are fascinating
