Farage is going after Conservative voters, support for SYL will scare them away

He is a grifter

Exactly. And he’s fairly good at it. Better than Musk anyway.

His next step is those more moderate Tories and some Labour supporters in the way they did with the 2012? UKIP manifesto that had something for everyone in. Especially while the Tories are still going further right.

His position on SYL is key to that because it’s the answer to the claim that UKIP/Brexit Party/Reform is racist. You see it on threads here a lot. It’s how people that wouldn’t be caught dead voting for BNP or EDL justify voting for Farage.

Double standards anyone?

Just to remind people it's 4.5 years till the next election

It is going to be a very very long 4.5 years

MsJinks · 05/01/2025 19:32

I imagine there's a few folk with cognitive dissonance now - Farage and Reform in power, OR Many Names - not sure how many are caught in that lovely venn diagram!

Very funny - Julia Hartley-Brewer is such a troll

Not as long as the 4.5 years before the last one were - those were interminable.

Interesting idea in a reply to James O'Brien tweet about Musk dumping Farage

Unless it is pre-arranged. Deal done in Florida last week? Farage steps down, Musk gives $1m, Farage takes half (as main shareholder), puppet installed for Musk to control. No surprise, it is Rupert the Bleugh. Farage can go to America (or the Bahamas).

I think that MN moderation has the wrong priorities.
The comedy thread Family summer holiday with a budget of around 180 million pounds was removed for gently taking the piss, yet we know of ones from a PBP that have been left in place.
Bit unimpressed...

Indeed

On another thread there's currently a self-confessed neo-nazi blowhard spouting off -

'Not in the Spirit of the Site' is dead

Oh you mean "AfD is Germany's last hope"?

Yes, that one.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 05/01/2025 20:49

Dear God - just looked at the recent posts on that thread. 😲

For some lighter amusement - can I remind people of this thread. Hindsight seems to have disproved it.

It was a great last word too.

PandoraSox · 05/01/2025 21:30

My resolution to spend less time on MN has failed somewhat. I blame Musk.

DuncinToffee · 05/01/2025 21:44

I wasn't planning to MN that much today either but Musk and the rain Smile

I've been out all afternoon/ evening. Bloody hell that poster.

The last two and a half pages could have been identical to the the first with a poster seemingly on repeat.

Notonthestairs · 06/01/2025 07:02

I've had an unplanned break from MN due to family illness. Not quite the start to the New Year we'd hoped for.
I've missed at least half a thread and what sounds like a lot of Leon related bollocks.

itsgettingweird · 06/01/2025 07:55

Oh I'm sorry to hear that Notonthestairs

It's been a bit mad here but RL always grounds anyone Flowers

Notonthestairs · 06/01/2025 08:12

thanks itsgettingweird. The New Year period seems to be an ongoing problem period for the Stairs family. Years of sudden illnesses around this time. At least we are consistent!

I haven't seen all the relevant threads/posts but hasnt Leon done Farage a favour? Similar to Jenrick/Braverman for Badenoch. Farage can cover right wingers who find TYL (and probably Leon) repulsive. Leon/Lowe can cover TYL's supporters. They form an unholy alliance with both sets of supporters believing they are in the ascendancy.
