The Tories, Robinson supporters and RW media can all fuck off too. None of them have given a flying fuck about children living in poverty who are a target for being groomed up until this point.

They weren't selling papers before.

PandoraSox · 04/01/2025 15:42

@SerendipityJane your work on that thread is immense.

Silly me.

@DuncinToffee Bit late on the thread today but thanks so much for the new thread ! Best place to be is to be here.

Musk has vowed to bring the Starmer government down. It seems that there are posters on MN posting with that objective. I doubt if their prime motivation is concern for abused girls.

Labour should take Musk v seriously, he is a very dangerous man, huge influence and plenty of money.

SerendipityJane · 04/01/2025 17:53

There are differing ways to take someone seriously. There are also different ways to be taken seriously.

For the former, a calm head and careful appraisal of the situation would be advised. All the more effective when you are dealing with a man-child whose ego is so massive it rivals Trumps.

itsgettingweird · 04/01/2025 18:16

I tentatively listened to R4 newscast yesterday with LK discussing this. It was actually quite good and said pretty much what we've all been saying on the threads.

She did get her dog at Labour on her closing statement though about interviewing Streeting for today's episode.

ilovesooty · 04/01/2025 18:38

And as soon as someone starts a thread about feeling disturbed about the right wing drift and the influence of Musk - bang on cue there's a poster being scared of all the "damage" the present government can do over the next few years. It's tiresome.

Elodie09 · 04/01/2025 19:50

I seem to have swapped my terror at what the last Tory government were doing to our country to a new terror of "please don't leave us Sir Keir."
I get loads of criticism when I post along these lines, but honestly, if Labour continue to be attacked like this when they have not even been given a couple of years to govern I really fear for the UK.
MP's who do care about ordinary people in the UK, like Jess Phillips are being subjected to disgraceful abuse.
Why are our broadcasters and media just going along with this by not calling it out and why are they reporting so heavily on whatever Musk's latest manipulation is?
It is beyond ridiculous ~Elon Musk says we must have a new election in the UK." Does he really and why are you giving this airtime.

I do think there might be an almighty clash and fall out between Trump and Musk soon though.

I applaud those of you lovely posters who are on the Musk threads challenging the ignorance of some of the more outlandish comments.
I can't look at them much more.

We are getting close to filling another one **

I've been out all day manfully resisting the urge to post on Muskaloony thread number 2 - had a belated Christmas gift exchange with foster DS and his fiance in Reading, nice lunch out but I'm tired now - I have an ear infection and it's a long drive. Fortunately no work till Tuesday.

And DS is going through a change of meds and is showing substantial signs of improvement, so good news all round. Cat tax is attached - this is my wobbly boy who has also had an ear infection but it much better since treatment.

I think the current madness on here shows the need for us to do what Finland are doing

At least that thread is now finished.

cardibach · 04/01/2025 20:33

I’m a retired English teacher @Evenstar . I’ve been trying to show pupils how to recognise bias and fake news for years. A national strategy would be good though.
I’ve been at orchestra today. I knew it would be cold in the church (and I’m no good with cold) so I wore thermal leggings and long sleeved base layer. Thick long sleeve t shirt and joggers. Very thick sweatshirt. I was so cold I had to leave at lunch time as it was making me feel ill. Took me 2 hours to thaw through with heating on and a heated throw. I now feel utterly wiped out, my dodgy knee is painful and I feel generally unwell. I’m so pissed off with this weather.

Piggywaspushed · 04/01/2025 20:35

There's a pt 3.....

Huzzah 😭

Evenstar · 04/01/2025 20:36

@cardibach I am sat with a heated throw, a fan heater on and the heating on. I think it is that kind of damp cold that just gets to your bones.

I agree. I have never seen anything like it. Of course, there was a lot of online activity against Johnson and co., but nothing comparable to the vicious lies and accusations that have been slung at Labour since July. Weaponising child sexual abuse and VAWG is disgusting.

DuncinToffee · 04/01/2025 20:38

Sorry to hear that Cardi, hope you feel better soon

Oh FFS. Why is MNHQ allowing this?

cardibach · 04/01/2025 20:40

Thanks. I absolutely hate the cold. It’s a form of SAD I think - I get so I fear being cold disproportionately (though it really was that cold today) and it stops me doing things I enjoy. It’s not daylight related - I was fine around Christmas with grey skies and short days because it was a reasonable temp.

It fills threads and full threads attract more advertising revenue.

It's pretty depressing that a site aimed at women is allowing so much oxygen to be given to Musk's weaponising of CSE and VAWG.

BIossomtoes · 04/01/2025 21:37

Feel better soon, cardi
