Anyone can't sleep?

I'm having a night time flare up of my IBS after a stressful day at the hospital with my foster daughter. And now the IBS is making me anxious. I've got my headphones on and I'm listening to the that anxiety guy (the anxious truth) podcast and trying to focus on keeping my breathing steady and desperately praying I don't have to get up for the loo again.

Golden girls episodes on Disney+ is eventually what sent me to sleep. What a comforting show. I'm already awake because of my IBS so didn't sleep long maybe 3hrs 45 mins. Today is going to be hard! Hope all the rest of you lovelies got some sleep in the end.

I didn't get anymore sleep. Now making coffee for my OH.

Better than hotel service. 😁

I've not been able to sleep yet ☹️ I can't even say I know a reason!

Partner's alarms going off since half 5, he didn't even need to be up early! This was going to be my second lie in of the Christmas break..

Nogodsnomasters · 03/01/2025 06:49

Oh god that's the worst. Hope you both don't have too much on today?

I've woken to the street looking like ice skating rink - great. Today I have to get the weekly food shopping traipsing both kids along as dh is at the office today, then at 5.30 I need to be on the other side of the city picking up foster daughter from her family contact.

OP love to anxiety guy, he makes me fall straight asleep but I was going to add the calm app have sleep stories, there is one by shaun mendis that works every time. It's called "we are connected"

In fact I have no clue what happens at the end of the story.

I've been to sleep, woke up for a wee and I have indigestion so waiting for my tummy to settle after my tablet. Also my own fault as I drank wine which my body does not like in the slightest at the moment.

His voice is soo soothing! But even that didn't cut it for me last night, ended up being the golden girls. I just bought his "my anxiety story" book (drew linsalata) on Amazon and read it in a few hours, not a long book but very good! Think I'll buy his other book next.

I'd have murdered him.

Day off for me today. Need to clean the car for tomorrow and then make the tea. The joys of 5 pasties to make, as the eldest will take one back to Uni tomorrow.

@OldPodge Good luck, sorry your experience wasn't great at the hospital, but I'm sure your surgery will go well and it'll be such a relief once it's gone x

Thank you!
All went well and hospital experience could not have been better this time.
Surgeon said the gall bladder was full of stones and definitely needed to come out, so I feel vindicated. 😁… amazing WOMAN too.
Thing is, am awake now watching the clock until I can take more Cocodamol! 😖
Hope all you lovely people are getting some sleep this night. 😘

I'm up with gallstone pain, in the bath. I have a 12 week old baby so really wish I was sleeping while he slept! Waiting for an appointment to meet the surgical team to plan the operation, no clue when it'll be.

Hope everyone unwell feels better soon and hope your foster daughter is okay x

I get this, when I wake in the night with it I glug a lot of water, have some apple juice mixed with apple cider vinegar, 2 buscopan and some peppermint tea and then cuddle a hot water bottle. I have been waiting since July to see consultant.

Was trying similar myself but sadly it was only after a big flare up, hospitalisation and a scan I got a date for surgery.
Hope you get seen soon and I sincerely wish you well. X

@Sunshineandrainbow Does that help the pain at all?

I was referred for a scan following being seen in A&E (I was encouraged to go for bloods by the GP, sitting there groaning in pain and throwing up was not fun) and am waiting for an appointment with the surgical team. I was told 4-6 weeks (6 weeks ago) but sounds like the wait could be much longer. I am miserable, hardly eating and terrified when I do, I just eat salad these days. Really ruining my maternity leave as they've been happening since my baby was 2 weeks, he's now 13 weeks.

Bear in mind I havent seen consultant yet so you might be quicker and areas vary on wait times. I was referred by GP for scan which I have had. With hospital winter pressures all over the news I know I am going to have a longer wait.

I do find what I take does help me. I also take Alka setzler or naproxen.
I am trying to take apple juice and the vinegar every day as some research suggests it can dissolve the stone's.

There is a fab gallbladder support group on Facebook with lots of tips and help.

I eat a lot of vegetable soup and brown toast.

@Sunshineandrainbow Thank you so much, I'm going to take a screenshot of your post and try it all, it's beyond horrendous. How much apple cider vinegar? I really hope you get seen soon, leaving us like this is inhumane x
