Anyone else left with the kids tonight?

Merrychristmastome1 · 31/12/2024 16:14

I do love my kids, so not complaining about being with them.

Partner has decided he's odd out to the pub tonight. His words were "I'm not ditching the kids. I'm ditching you".
I'm boring because I don't drink (he drinks most days). I'm also getting over illness, still dizzy and can't taste or smell.
It just feels a bit rubbish as I always associate seeing the new year in with people you care about...
Am I being unreasonable to be upset? I'm happy to be told I am.

He’s an alcoholic?

JustBeach · 31/12/2024 16:15

Ditch him permanently for speaking to you like that.

AlphabetBird · 31/12/2024 16:15

Sounds like you’ll have a better night without him. May it be the first of many…

Moonlightstars · 31/12/2024 16:16

I would be upset. I love NYE and either took the kids to a party or had a party so we could both go out.

Alalalala · 31/12/2024 16:16

He’s an alcoholic. That’s your problem. Also he’s nasty.

Poor kids, too.

SLRUS · 31/12/2024 16:16

Seriously? You'd be happy if we told you that you were being unreasonable? I hope in 2025 you want more for yourself than being treated and spoken to like this x

OatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 31/12/2024 16:16

Tomorrow would be the last New Year’s Day I spent with a man like that.

mollymazda · 31/12/2024 16:18

oh good lord really? you honestly think this is normal behaviour within a relationship with children?

more fool you....

when he does go out, lock the door, put the key in the lock, close all the curtains and leave him a bag on the doorstep.. go into 2025 the way you mean to go on.. without hi

Merrychristmastome1 · 31/12/2024 16:20

I don't know what's normal anymore, honestly. He obviously wants to be out (and will be there until the pub closes) but I don't (and can't because of the kids). So I'm wondering if I would be unreasonable to think he could stay home with me.

You should ditch him for good, what a jerk

Cinnamorolls · 31/12/2024 16:22

Lone parent, I’m left with the kids every night 😕

Randomontheinternet25 · 31/12/2024 16:23

He sounds horrible, are the children his?
How can he afford to be in the pub that often, surely that money could be used for family (fun/improvements whatever)

I'm sorry to hear that. I was a single mum for many years with my eldest. I didn't actually mind, I suppose I just feel unimportant and disregarded.

Our youngest child is his.

Ex husband is,not taking the kids today, I thought he will since they were with me on Christmas Christmas and boxing day but no he wants to go out so he is not taking them as he is a selfish coward and they are am inconvenience to him if he takes them.

He's got plenty of money. He's from a wealthy family. I on the other hand, struggle each month, car loan after mine broke etc. We don't share money.

How long has he treated you and the family like this?
Are the children old enough to notice his behaviour? You really don't want them thinking his behavior is normal
He's not sounding a keeper to me

May09Bump · 31/12/2024 16:27

I'd be upset as he's left you with the kids when dizzy - bloody dangerous, is there anyone that can sit with you or at least check in? Once well, have a think whether you are still compatible and if not decide on a plan.

Merrychristmastome1 · 31/12/2024 16:28

I was hoping othera would say they are also staying in with kids whilst their partner goes out.
Luckily a few months ago he met another waste of space, who appears to be leaving his partner at home with her 3 kids and the month old baby they share.

Holy hell.

he must have been slowly beating you down for you to not realize how bad that comment was and just how egregious he is behaving.

You deserve better than this. Your kids deserve better than this.

The man sounds like an arse
(We crossed messaged)
I would be gone in a shot.
He can pay for his child.
You must see this isn't normal loving behaviour in a relationship

He left me alone when our son was 2 and I had Covid to go away for a night drinking. I was really poorly and hadn't eaten for a week. So he absolutely does not care now.

I don't feel the words anymore. That's just a standard comment.

So...nobody else alone with the kids whilst their partner goes out? 🤣 I can't be the only one.

What is the living arrangement?
I would be looking at any option not to be with him, he doesn't seem to support or respect you.
Can you reach out to any local charities for help with proper legal advice.
Obviously this is the internet and everyone can suggest anything .
But if I were you, I would be looking at making a different life for myself and children .

This is when you should be realising its time to get out.
