What’s everyone doing between Christmas and new year?

Going to work…

fuzzylegs33 · 29/12/2024 19:36

Absolutely sod all. A few walks. Soft play just because toddler was going a bit dotty being stuck in. Met friends for a drink one night but otherwise I am lounging about and eating leftovers with no guilt.

FrogOnAYuleLog · 29/12/2024 19:36

Parents and their dog have come to stay until 31st - Xmas dinner yesterday (didn’t on 25th), light trail thing today, meal out tomorrow.
Friends round for a party NYE. DH back to work on 2nd. Regretting the lack of chill time somewhat!

Feeling bewildered and lost. Same as every year at this point of the year

Sittingonthefence83 · 29/12/2024 19:37

Worked on Friday, but off Monday and Tuesday, so taking the DC watch Moana 2 tomorrow

WorkCleanRepeat · 29/12/2024 19:38

A couple of day trips with the kids. Working 2 days, panto, visiting some friends and de-Christmasing the house.

therewasafishinthepercolator · 29/12/2024 19:39

Fecking up my sleep pattern by staying up too late and lying in too long whilst telling DS17 he shouldn't feck up his sleep pattern by staying up too late....

And eating.

LBOCS2 · 29/12/2024 19:39

Completely fucking up my sleep pattern, as far as I can tell. Either I'm not sleeping until 3.30am, or I'm exhausted so falling asleep at 10.30 then waking up at 4am for the day.

We've watched a lot of the Harry Potter films as well.

LBOCS2 · 29/12/2024 19:40

Cross posted @therewasafishinthepercolator!

Working

WhatWouldHopperDo · 29/12/2024 19:44

I’ve got this week off (worked last week).

It will be a combination of tidying, dog walking and lunch with friends mingled in with visiting my DM in hospital where she’s been since the beginning of October 🙁

Everyone else in the house is working so I will have some alone time which I LOVE!

Sheknowsaboutme · 29/12/2024 19:48

Work
cleaning
decluttering

Goldenphoenix · 29/12/2024 19:52

I have become one with the sofa and haven't got a clue what day it is. Trying not to do much as felt quite burnt out going into Christmas. It's so nice to just watch films and have nowhere I need to be.

MyStylish40s · 29/12/2024 19:53

Cleaning and decluttering
Painted the bathroom ceiling
Hanging out with the kids
Lots of walks with ddog
Researching holidays for 2025
Cooking
Browsed the sales (didn’t buy anything)
Visiting family and having them over to ours
Someone is coming to power hose the patio on Tuesday, and I’m going to pot some winter and spring flowers

Iliketulips · 29/12/2024 19:53

Town on Friday, then SIL and her DH for meal.

Yesterday, DD,her BF and DM for our Xmas get together, exchanging presents over nibbles, then a meal and games evening.

Today work 7.45-5pm. A glass of wine, meal and crashing out this evening.

We plan to go on a day trip out tomorrow, probably to a countryside tourist village. Other options in the week included a long walk and pub lunch, maybe meeting friends at the pub. Also, a sporting event we're into is being held locally - might go if weather isn't too bad, otherwise crash out and watch on tv.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 29/12/2024 19:54

Working, lovely to be back actually, need some normality. Worked Friday and Saturday, back in tomorrow and New Year’s Day.

Have 2 weeks off at the end of January which I am really looking forward to.

YouMeandBrie · 29/12/2024 19:56

Absolutely nothing which is unheard of here. I’m loving life. Grin

Fetchthehotwaterbottle · 29/12/2024 19:57

Between Christmas and New year,: working.
Tomorrow or the next day I'll shop for some nibbles and nosh to put together for NYE, just having a little get together for a few of the neighbours, feels like a big deal now I'm tired even thinking about it but I'm sure with a glass in my hand it'll be all good.
I'll tell you what though, it's been great having leftovers to pick and nibble on since Christmas.
I've really saved some time in the kitchen there.
My fantasy New Year's resolution is to order in a meal every working night till the spring.
Yeah right, like that's ever going to happen.

Work

OrangesCinammonIvy · 29/12/2024 19:57

Tomorrow is a new day. I'm hoping to start light aerobic exercises again.
And get some irritating corner of the house cleaned.

mondaytosunday · 29/12/2024 19:57

Eating leftovers it seems! My son went back home on Boxing Day and has been working (retail). My DD (uni student) met up with mates for a sleep over. I need to do my taxes which I've said to myself every morning since October. We've got a few relatives to visit before DD goes back to uni.

SilverGlitterBaubles · 29/12/2024 20:05

Enjoying lazy mornings with nice breakfast and coffee, long walks with DH, maybe an afternoon on the sofa with a cuppa watching nonsense tv with teen DCs or reading, preparing cozy dinners and catching up with friends for a few drinks at their home or ours. Completely different to everyday busy life with work and school, enjoying every single moment as I know it will all get crazy in a few days 🙈

Yep. I work term time only and I do this every break. After vowing I won't. I have no self-control. Which DS uses against me. "Bad choices are in my blood, mother."

Frenzi · 29/12/2024 20:11

Work. Good old NHS.

I'm covering reception on Saturday and Sunday as we are open. GP surgery - you know, the ones who don't see patients anymore and are never open. 🙄

I've got Wednesday off though - yippee dee day!

Butthechildrentheylovethebooks · 29/12/2024 20:12

Had a second Christmas Day today with DH family.
Monkey World tomorrow with the DC, we go every Christmas time.
