(lighthearted) petty things that make you judge a person

People who don't like any hot drinks. A hot drink for me is the ultimate comfort. Someone told me they don't like them because they don't want to have to wait for their drink to cool down if they let thirsty. Who drinks a hot drink due to thirst?!

People who say they don't like water. How? You need water to survive. Not liking water is like not liking oxygen. And when you're dehydrated there's nothing like water.

Personalised number plates. What a waste of money and why would you want to be recognisable when driving.

Putting lighthearted in the title won't work. This thread will fill up with ableist, classist, fat shaming and racist posts.

Happynow · 29/12/2024 08:30

People who don't like chocolate ... I can accept most things but find that pretty incomprehensible!

SidekickSylvia · 29/12/2024 08:31

People who think that they can predict how a thread will go, in the hope of completely derailing it.

Oh yes, if someone doesn't like chocolate I'm very suspicious of them!

Hillrunning · 29/12/2024 08:32

The hot drinks is a big one for me too.

Manchesterbythesea · 29/12/2024 08:32

People who say they hate dogs and/or cats. I always thinks there’s something very mean spirited about someone who says that. My mil for example!

MayaPinion · 29/12/2024 08:32

A massive Stanley cup.

SidekickSylvia · 29/12/2024 08:33

People who don't read/ have never read a book. They don't know what they're missing.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 29/12/2024 08:36

People who treat cats and dogs as if they were human and refer to themselves as the animal's parents. (Nothing to do with hatred, before anyone starts. I like dogs, and cats can't help being cats and making me sneeze. Just baffled by the way some pet owners behave and talk.)

Yeah that’s just weird. I don’t get that either.

Another one.. people over the age of 4 who say Mummy. That makes me want to do something bad.

BrightOrangeDahlias · 29/12/2024 08:46

Parents who shove phones / tablets in front of small children instead of parenting them.

People who get lip fillers.

stripeystripedstripes · 29/12/2024 08:48

People who judge others based on what they like or dislike, as if you can choose that.

its quite normal in NI - it’s mummy there rather than mum

Well I’m in Ireland and it’s not so common. My sil’s all say this though as they would like to be of a certain class. They are in their 50’s and just sound needy and pathetic.

I can hear my SIL calling her mum 'mammy' as she's Irish but the accent makes it nice. I'm thinking the Irish character in Motherland too, as an example.
It's the posho English accent 'mummy' that I think grates the poster in this case.

FancyNewt · 29/12/2024 09:05

Men wearing pink sweaters over their shoulders.

People who say 'supper'.

Manchesterbythesea · 29/12/2024 09:09

Families who wear matching clothes, like the shit you see in Next. Matching Mummy & daughter etc. That would bring out my judgy knickers.

Ohthatsabitshit · 29/12/2024 09:11

I think people can choose to call their parents whatever they like. I think it’s a bit grim to dislike someone because of the names they use. It’s just snobbery and not attractive at all.

i dislike very strong detergent smells or conditioners/shampoos.

We used to say “supper” as kids, but not in the context that I think you mean 🤣 Our meals were Breakfast, Dinner, Tea and then Supper was a little snack right before bed.

Op, mine are people who don’t like animals, inflated lips, massive false eyelashes that completely cover the eyes, anyone who thinks they’re superior to anyone else based on things like finances, looks, car, house size etc, anyone who judges an entire section of society based on one encounter with one person, people who drive a massive 4x4 if they don’t live on a farm or out in the sticks, anyone who is rude or condescending to anyone who works in any form of customer service, people who attend A&E when it’s for neither an accident or an emergency, people who play the victim and make it their whole personality….. 🤣

I need to stop, I’ll be here all day

MammaTo · 29/12/2024 09:30

A fairly recent one, but people who take their Christmas tree down on Boxing Day. Have a day off.
