Anyone else get/buy lego for themselves this Xmas? If so, which one?

I got the mandrake from Harry Potter from my husbands grandparents, which was very kind and much appreciated. Got an orchid set from parents in law, and treated myself to the black and white cat at the shops today.
Not everyone's cup of tea, I know, but I find it so relaxing and they look great when complete! Saw some bloke buying the eye of Sauron one for about £300 today and was very jel! 😂

We are just in the midst of building Jabbas sail barge but that has been sat here for a few months waiting for our adult son to come home to build . This Christmas my husband got the Artemis rocket thing as a present and I was given the Botanical gardens . I’m yet to build the colosseum which is on the to do pile . Our house is covered in Lego but we’ve started rotating the sets or we will run out of room , currently up is the Lighthouse , a lot of botanicals , some Star Wars , Snow White / dwarves cottage and the Barad dur Lord of the Rings thing .

Wow @Floralnomad that's incredible!! I have to ask, how do you keep it all safe when not working on it all? Does it ever become mixed up or do you lose where you're up to in it? It'll look fantastic when all complete!

I'm currently building the Alpine Lodge and I also got the Tiny Plants botanical set.

I love the floral Lego.
I have most of the items in the floral range, it's a good go-to

We only ever have one large set on the go at a time . The ones that are on display are , aside from botanicals , all in cases to stop the inevitable dust issue . When they get removed they go in the loft in an appropriately sized plastic tub or back in their original boxes . We always keep instructions and boxes for the big sets . Our loft is crammed with the stuff - the Taj Mahal , Eiffel Tower ( large sets) , house of parliament, Tower of London , Disney castles , lots of Star Wars and Indians jones . We also have all the original Harry Potter Lego.

This is my first time asking for Lego for myself. It started with my K-pop obsession so I got the BTS set. DS got me Cinderella’s castle.

I love how it has come full circle since we used to get DS Lego every Christmas until about 4 years ago.

My Birthday is at the end of January and I already have a long list!

TheMousePipes · 27/12/2024 20:10

I got the Alpine Lodge for Christmas this year, DH got the Jaws set.

PlumpHobbit · 27/12/2024 20:29

We both like doing a smaller scale lego set together, my parents got DH the speed champions Lamborghini, as we collect those so will do that together. Can't wait for the new F1 speed champions range in March 😁

I got him for his birthday the Liverpool bus (not lego brand but same concept)

When i say we spent all of Christmas eve afternoon doing the bastarding thing, it is an understatement (not children don't worry they weren't neglected for the bus 😂)

The pieces were half the size of lego, and the instructions just showed where the next layer of pieces (which came jumbled between bags) went on the plan rather than legos children's friendly ones! Usually we take turns doing the stages but I ended up on sorting duty and he built

It does look really good and he needs to put it somewhere it won't get catted but it was hard work! There's a Manchester United one (my team) but I'm trying to decide if I fancy that again 😂

Ihopeithinkiknow · 27/12/2024 20:34

Every Christmas I buy my daughter some Lego sets knowing that she will get me to build them lol got her some different flower ones this year and was hoping to hear "you can do these if you want mum" but nope she wants to do them herself and display them in her own bedroom (the cheek of it haha) it's backfired on me this year lol

Newdoggo · 27/12/2024 20:36

DH treated himself to the Avengers Tower

lochmaree · 27/12/2024 20:53

I got the botanicals chrysanthemum. On stage 3 now. Loving building it!

FuckItItsFine · 27/12/2024 20:56

The Home Alone house 😍 Spent all of Christmas Day and Boxing Day making it. It is probably my favourite Lego build I’ve ever done. Just stunning and so many little Easter Eggs and references. Utterly joyful.

Microwaveexpert · 27/12/2024 20:57

Bought my son the bonsai tree one. He's just finished and it looks great!

FknOmniShambles · 27/12/2024 20:59

It is so heartening to read so many other adults love lego! DH got the sonic one, which is also very cool. Was great to see in the shop today the Jaws boat and Home Alone house... So many cool sets, but so much £££!

Notre Dame

Joey35 · 27/12/2024 21:06

I got the wildflowers and orchid sets from dh ☺️

Needmorelego · 27/12/2024 21:12

I got lots of money to buy some of the January 1st releases !
I don't like the really big sets.
My hopeful January 1st buys are going to be mostly Creator 3 in 1 sets. I like the typewriter, cat, flamingo and spider.
For Christmas I did get the Elf Post Van which is adorable.

idril · 27/12/2024 21:13

I got the lego art milky way galaxy. I am a massive lego building fan (don't care about the end product, just the process of building) and my front room is crammed full of so many models that we've basically run out of room. Saw this and thought that we could start using the wall space instead 😂.

Wasn't sure if I would like it but DH bought it for me anyway but so far I love it - quite different to building the normal models but still very relaxing.

RobertJohnsonsShoes · 27/12/2024 21:19

I got Indiana jones in a car and plane

HighHeelsOnCobblestones · 27/12/2024 21:20

I got three this Christmas. The chrysanthemum, the plum blossom and the Milky Way galaxy. Already got the orchid and the Lego art great wave. Would love to build the Notre Dame but not sure where I’d put it; I like the ones that go in the wall for this reason…plenty of empty wall space. I also like the flowers because I can’t kill them 😆

Chickenwing2 · 27/12/2024 21:24

I got the Main Street (3 in 1 version)

I want the Home Alone house so much, but cannot justify the price Xmas Envy

BuzzYourGirlfriendWoof · 27/12/2024 21:25

I received the Nightmare Before Christmas set. Cannot wait to build it, but promised my son I’d help him with his Fortnite Battle Bus first!

Might secretly have to buy the Alpine Lodge in homage to my love of Christmas and skiing

Andrasa · 27/12/2024 21:41

I’m building Rivendell atm, almost there! Not sure I want to do such a big set again though. Got the lighting set to do as soon as I finish too. 🫠

Toucanfusingforme · 27/12/2024 21:43

The Star Wars Ewok Village is amazing. Best Christmas present ever a few years ago. This year a Harry Potter car. It isn’t a proper Christmas if I don’t have a new Lego kit to build!

MiseryIn · 27/12/2024 21:44

Tuxedo cat here. Had a piece of the tail missing.

Love it though.

Hoping they'll send me the piece!
