What an odd video. Almost like a deepfake with sentences spliced together and lack of human warmth.

Whatever you think of him, even the leftiest of lefties can't deny that this is an awfully done video. Terrible editing. Insincere delivery. That awful captioning of one word at a time. Send the comms person off for some more training I think.

He’s reading an auto cue so he’s coming across as bit robotic

I’ve watched the video now - how weird!
Is this honestly an official video?
An AI filter looks more real than he does, it’s so badly made!
The opportunities they’ve had to create something better than this, and they’ve still gone with this! Utterly bizarre.

Is that sort of comment your usual response when someone disagrees with you?

14 years of Tory rule is responsible for Starmer’s lack of warmth and his undertakers Christmas speech! 😂😂 Of course!

Labour has just created a stagnant recession with their doom mongering for six months - there really isn’t much to celebrate is there! Things are predictably going from bad to absolutely dire!

I don't consider it beautiful to see Musk and Trump cosying up to Farage either.

did he say his grandfather was a toolmaker?

No, but he did say that we can continue having our lunch breaks.... but no steak.

What caused the recession in the last quarter of 2023?

But we aren't even in a recession but according you, things are "worse"

Speech seemed fine to me, better than Badenoch's, which wreaked of a lack of purpose and no self-awareness.

I do.

There, that's you debunked. What a pathetic thread this is. Especially at the supposed time of peace and goodwill.

Kill the vulnerable quickly by taking away their winter fuel allowance raising inheritance tax so he can get his grubby hands on their money

The vulnerable will still get WFA and pension credits & why should one group of people pay no IHT but everyone else pay 40% with 6 months?

Taxes pay for the things we all want but it seems that some people thing they are "Special"

Yes.... quite amazing that people have forgotten the mess that the Tories gave us with Brexit, 8m on waiting lists and govt borrowing and mortgages going from 1.8% to 5% over night with Truss.

The main reasons why taxes have had to increase, that 4% drop in GDP will have to paid for in worse services for longer and higher taxes.

Pensioners already consume far more of the government budget than anyone or anything else and the percentage is rising all the time. I'm rather tired of the hyperbole being directed at Starmer, driven by the media and lapped up by people who can't be bothered to do any basic research.

Araminta1003 · 24/12/2024 14:27

He needs to get his teeth fixed and smile more after to look positive to make up for that monotone slightly snarly voice. Where are the PR experts? They need to give him a makeover.

Can’t believe how uninformed people are. Do you realise that only 10% of Brits are rich enough to have to pay inheritance tax on their private estate? And here, people are crying that the richest 10% are asked to pay slightly more? Why?
Winter fuel allowance - again, why should richer pensioners get free energy when a family of five doesn’t. Poorer pensioners are still eligible…
Labour is trying to create a bit more equity and get funding for NHS and school, but everyone seems to think they’re being robbed

babasaclover · 24/12/2024 14:29

@Alabamahotpocket I agree and he is handing it to farage on a plate. I can't wait!

What is there an overwhelming tendency for those on the left, when faced with justifiable critcism of the PM and Government, to resort to student politics type insults rather than debate or rebut the criticism using facts? It was ever thus.

The facts show that this government had a plan to win the election, but no plan to govern. They have ideolgies, but no coherent policies. We have had pledges, missions, milestones, foundations...a veritable word salad. We have had a budget. But that has led to lower, now zero, growth (soon to be a techncial recession), higher interest rates, lower or no payrises for the lower paid, higher taxes on business, higher pay but no fewer strikes and no better service for train drivers, and disgruntled teachers, nurses and pensioners. We've had exagerated CV's, cronyism beyond belief, ministerial resignations and a government that won't even pay for their own clothes.

Which would all have been business as usual, if only they hadn't set out how very different they would be. They are not, and they were never going to be. All that in less than 6 months.

Surely coherent policies, actions even, include public sector wage agreements, beginning to sort out the Civil Service, deciding to stop arguing with a load of dumb women who couldn't keep up with the news that no one owes them anything after all these years, removing automatic winter fuel payments from a load of rich pensioners and setting up extra additional workers to deal with pension credit applications for those who really are needy, removing charity status from well off public schools....
I can't be bothered to go on, there's loads but the foaming at the mouth brigade are massing at the doors, me, me, me, me, me, ooh, I'm going to vote for Farage, now there's an honest man, what did he say? Oh yes, it's all those immigrants.. why are we short of fruit pickers, farm workers, care staff, medical staff, shop workers, decent roads, clean water, decent schools, a functioning health service???
It's because of LABOUR of course, 4 months in, they've wrecked the country.

OneBadKitty · 24/12/2024 14:33

Sick of hearing about the bloody pensioners freezing to death. Luckily, thanks to global warming they might all live
