Or fed up to the back teeth with it all already?

Just chatting to my cousins last night and one of them said they just wished it was over!

Am over it, although not been into it this year. Not helped by feeling under the weather. Roll on boxing day!

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 24/12/2024 06:44

I love Christmas Day! I fully expect it to be exhausting and up and down as DD2(4yo) is getting over chicken pox and DS(9mo) will try to be in everything and will likely get overstimulated but I prepare for this by lowering my standards.

I'm looking forward to it. I'm excited for DD to open her presents. Then we have our Church Christmas Day service at 10am which I love. Its very relaxed and joyful. Everyone dressed in Christmas day outfits, little kids holding new toys, sing carols, short message, wish everyone a merry Christmas and then out by 11.

Dinner will be at mum's. Plenty of chilled time with family. Probably play a couple of board games together and eat far too much. Then come home in time to watch Gavin and Stacey.

I think it's going to be great

Frankly no. I’m with the in laws. They specialise in the barbed comment and utter smugness.

I'm fed up with it, if I could fast forward to boxing day I would. I'm already thinking of booking a holiday for next year.

I'm looking forward to it this year. I'm not hosting and actually going to the pub for a few drinks in the afternoon.

TheLurpackYears · 24/12/2024 07:07

Looking forward to it. Single mum with almost no back up. Dc of to their dad's and his side of the family for about 22 hours. I will enjoy the peace and quiet and then have a good time together when I collect them.

IsChristmasOverYetPlease · 24/12/2024 07:08

See my user name.

It’s me and 2 elderly relatives who can’t really eat, don’t drink and will be in bed by 9pm. No games and no merriment although they have got a tree and presents.

Roll on the 27th.

K0OLA1D · 24/12/2024 07:11

Yep. I'm hosting. Parents, my uncle and then my dc are taking a plate down to my nan and elderly neighbour who are going to spend it together (they live round the corner)

My dc are at an age where they can help, my dp helps, my mum cannot do anything but help 🤣 So I am actually really looking forward to it

IBlameTheDog · 24/12/2024 07:12

My family and I are eating out for the first time ever. I've cooked (alone) for the last 18 years so this is a real treat.

It's the most chilled Christmas ever!

So yes, looking forward to the day. DD and I have lots of nice things planned today too, including a festive breakfast out and some last minute Christmas mooching ☺️

Oh yes I definitely am!
I think it might have something to do with our kids ages. Hers are full on grumpy teens and everything is a chore or a bore to them.
We are making plans for them to come over to us next year, as then at least they'll be within a bigger family dynamic (She's in a different part of the country to the majority of us) and hopefully she will get into the spirit of the season again.
Your day would be her dream scenario with her teens @TheCheeryLeader 🥰

Yes, very much. But that's because I'm the grandma who visits for Christmas and none of the responsibilities fall to me.

kikisparks · 24/12/2024 07:17

Yes, DD is 3 and can’t wait for her excitement! Plus looking forward to a nice meal and some games when she goes to bed.

HansHolbein · 24/12/2024 07:19

Oh I love it! Especially for the children. It’s always the four of us at home and we don’t invite anyone over for the lunch. We aren’t rigid about times and we just go with the flow.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 24/12/2024 07:21

Yes, I am. We are doing things differently this year so I'm hoping it's far more relaxing than usual.

BarbaraHoward · 24/12/2024 07:24

Yes I am. We're hosting so it will be full on but our kids are peak Santa age so it will also be lots of fun.

Lots of prep to do today though, so today will be full on, not really looking forward to that.

Hi Sis is that you?
I actually found if you concentrate on the bits you like whether it’s lots of delicious food or thoughtful presents then it can be a wonderful time.

Orland0 · 24/12/2024 07:25

It’s a reminder of how isolated I am, so I’ll be glad when we get to New Year’s Day. Christmas Day is the same as any other day I’m not in work for me.

Meadowfinch · 24/12/2024 07:29

I love it. My kitchen smells amazing. I'll prep the veg tonight.

Teen DS will sleep in so I'll run Parkrun on Christmas morning, then wake him up about 10.30. Champagne with breakfast, presents, carols on the radio, lunch, board games, log fire. 😊

KvotheTheBloodless · 24/12/2024 07:29

Not for myself (we're at PIL's and they're difficult) but I'm looking forward to seeing DS's face light up when he discovers Santa has been!

GiraffesAtThePark · 24/12/2024 07:35

Yes excited!

DC3 is much more aware than in the past. And it’s DC11months first Christmas 🎄 so I’m excited about Christmas morning and opening presents.

For myself, I was heavily pregnant last year and the previous year I had a terrible cold so I’m hoping I can enjoy the day too.
