Santa has messed up and I feel bad

Could actually cry... please help me feel better. My ds wanted new football boots for Xmas, he is excited to get new ones and had picked ones that he wanted. Santa thought she was on the ball and ordered them ages ago and felt very cocky about it but the stupid idiot has ordered the wrong bloody ones and now they are sold out in his size Only noticed when I went to wrap them and took them out of the black delivery bag.

Please help me not feel so bad 😭

How wrong a Size? Will he grow into them or are they too small already, or gigantic?

TeenToTwenties · 23/12/2024 19:31

Write a sorry note and say he has asked mum to try to sort it out?

KneesUnder · 23/12/2024 19:31

I would give them to him anyway then change them after Christmas

worstmistaje · 23/12/2024 19:31

Two sizes too small. Why am I so stupid ?!?

OP posts:
Cosycover · 23/12/2024 19:33

Can they not be swapped tomorrow?

worstmistaje · 23/12/2024 19:33

Cosycover · 23/12/2024 19:33

Can they not be swapped tomorrow?

Everywhere is out of stock

SugarCookieMonster · 23/12/2024 19:34

Does anywhere else stock them or just one place?
Any chance they could have them in store, might be worth a phone call or going in if you can?
Check on Vinted and see if anyone has them that you could collect in person from.
Ebay?

CalicoPusscat · 23/12/2024 19:35

Get him some different ones? You're not a bad Santaress

Shimmyshimmyshimmy · 23/12/2024 19:35

How old is the child?

thegirlwithapearl · 23/12/2024 19:35

Are there any similar in stock that you could go and get tomorrow? If he doesn't like them at least they'll be his size- you never know he might prefer the ones you get him. Good luck OP, I always worry I'll do something similar!

Onetwothreefourfivealive · 23/12/2024 19:38

He won’t have a match presumably for a few days so should give you time to get him some in his size assuming they come back in stock.
Ive done the exact same thing although the company sent the wrong size.
they are now completely out of stock ( Jude Bellingham special edition predators)
I’ll just give him the ones that are too big and tell him we can exchange them after Xmas.

CaptainCabinetsTrappedInCabinets · 23/12/2024 19:39

And this is why santa only brings the stocking fillers.

Twice now I've had to explain to my sons that I've made a mistake and bought the wrong thing. Far FAR easier than this mess you've got yourself in.

Your going to have to get him some different ones

Guest100 · 23/12/2024 19:41

Wrap the ones you have and say oh no the elves must have given you elf footy boots. I will email once Santa is home and see if I can swap them for bigger ones.

cheesychipsontheoche · 23/12/2024 21:51

What size and which boots? Maybe the magic of mumsnet can find them in stock, albeit they won't arrive for Christmas

itsnotalwaysthateasy · 23/12/2024 21:58

Santa can't believe how much you've grown and bought the wrong size. That works unless he's 15!

@CaptainCabinetsTrappedInCabinets You're a self righteous little soul aren't you. Well done for being perfect. She asked for help, not ridicule...bah humbug to you.

TouchoftheTism · 23/12/2024 22:00

Im guessing he's got a shedload of other stuff and the boots arent a main present? Tell him santa must have forgotten and you'll sort it next week.

Trollsandsqueakforbreakfast · 23/12/2024 22:02

What size, what boots and what location?

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 23/12/2024 22:05

Trollsandsqueakforbreakfast · 23/12/2024 22:02

What size, what boots and what location?

This - maybe someone can do a search near them? Or might have a friend who works in the shop or something? Clutching at straws but you never know!

Dollshousedolly · 23/12/2024 22:11

Are there ‘better or more cooler’ ones that you could buy tomorrow. Or the size up in the pair he wanted ? What age is your DS?

LaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaa · 23/12/2024 22:12

OP can you post a picture of the boots and the size you need?

The magic of mumsnet might come through for you!

NeverDropYourMooncup · 23/12/2024 22:17

He won't know he was supposed to get football boots.

It'll be fine.

HidingFromDD · 23/12/2024 22:19

if it's a 2 size difference you probably ordered in US size and not UK (US sizes are 2 sizes bigger roughtly). Depending on the age, I'd be tempted to wrap but put on it a very apologetic letter from Santa around how he hadn't realised how much he'd grown and could you ask your mum to change for a bigger size...

Jolly good for you, the paragon of perfection.

hadenough24 · 23/12/2024 22:27

I would either give them and say you'll change them for the right size, or make an iou note?
