Manic house tidying pre-mil visit. Now drinking wine.

Littletreefrog · 22/12/2024 21:14

We completed on our new house.a week ago. Luckily still a few weeks until we have to move out of where we are now as the vendors left it an absolute state. I have spent nearly 8 hours on Saturday and another 8 on Sunday bagging up rubbish for the tip and cleaning the kitchen and bathrooms. I am now aching from head to foot. It'll be worth it in the end though.

WillowTit · 22/12/2024 21:15

more wrapping presents
made shepherds beany pie

You know that's not allowed right? They need billing for it. Make sure you have it photographed and contact their solicitor. It should be left clean and empty

stargazerlil · 22/12/2024 21:17

Me and my dog had Christmas dinner, stuffed full of chicken we watched a movie and fell asleep.

Lazy morning, friend over for mince pies and catch up, carol service in the Abbey, home for dinner (thrown together left over veg veggie lasagna dc claim to be the best meal I’ve ever made), avengers on BBC snuggled on sofa with dtds (teens).

Printedword · 22/12/2024 21:19

Stepped in to help out with church services today because churchwarden's Dad's been taken ill. The Carol service was lovely and youth and kids group people did some of the readings. Lovely yr 5 or 6 girl in full pink princess dress.

In between the 2 services we realised one of our outside drains was blocked and we called out Drainco and they successfully unblocked it. Expensive but way worth the peace of mind.

Rotten bastards! But very exciting moving to a new house & yes, it'll be worth it & great knowing you're (now) moving into a thoroughly cleaned house!!

Does it need much doing to it? If it does, are you able to start soon?

me: sod all. Feeling dreadful & just can't make myself do stuff. Loads still to do for Christmas (eek) thank god not hosting (couldn't) & going to friends for Christmas, but 'stuff' still needs doing!

make the most of getting so much done while you are able to push through & just do it! I didn't ever anticipate feeling like this (age, menopause, health issues). I used to be an annoying energiser bunny!! Now im
like the one one who has the shitty cheap batteries!!

AutoP1lot · 22/12/2024 21:27

Tidied and cleaned the house then had a nap, whilst DH took the DC to the skate park and cooked a roast.

Then over about 4 hours this evening we had about 25 friends and neighbours in for a Christmas drink & mince pie.

All done and tidied up and now in bed about to read my book.

Sunnyside4 · 22/12/2024 21:28

Up at 6am for work. Since arriving home, only things I really needed to do is washing up and phoning my Mum. Been reading, cat pampering and watching TV.

CrocCottage · 22/12/2024 21:30

Up bright & early for the Christmas food shop delivery. Made breakfast, put some washing on, drove to a garden centre to see Christmas displays with the kiddos, visited family and had lunch together, got back around 4, put dinner on, watched a movie with dcs, baths, bedtime for kids, made a brew, chilled on sofa for abit with dh, now scrolling on mumsnet for half an hour before dh & I finish the last of the present wrapping!

Sounds lovely!!

Hold the rabbit up to an open window, explain chewing on carpets = living in a hutch out there!!!

😂 🐰

I'd love a house 🐰but I'd be too scared of it chewing wires etc!!

DelilahBucket · 22/12/2024 21:31

Pottering around the house this morning getting jobs done, cheeseboard may have made an appearance for lunch 😁, finished the Christmas present buying this afternoon with DH and DS, cooked a nice pie for tea, DH cleared up, DS made choc chip buns, received the food shop and now winding down with a vodka, lime and soda in my hand.
One more day at work and then three days off. A rarity for those of us who are self employed. Woop woop!

turkeymuffin · 22/12/2024 21:32

Food shop, bit of decorating, baking with kids, a snooze and tv time

Once the rubbish is removed and the whole place cleaned although to be fair it was mainly the kitchen and the bathroom that were especially dirty it doesn't need anything doing apart from the garden but that will be a fun project for the warmer weather. We have never had a garden before.

I bet even the Energizer bunny had a little sit down when none was looking.

youngestisapsycho · 22/12/2024 21:34

Went with my mum to Christmas Carols at The Royal Albert Hall… was really lovely. Dinner in Hare and Tortoise after. Now home and on sofa watching Virgin River 😊
