Sounds fabulous!!

Maybe a bit of melon or something?

MyFuckRationsAreDepleated · 22/12/2024 19:51

Sounds great. Does sound like a lot of food though! Maybe I can come round too 🤣

titchy · 22/12/2024 19:52

How is that going to work as a buffet - soup, turkey and sides are a sit-down meal surely? Or is this for the whole day and you've included the sit down bit as well as snack throughout the day? Sorry, confused! And what is home made - can't be all of it.

Oh honestly I am such a feeder. I like to stuff people up 🤣 I do have melon forgot to put that on the list.

You had me a Chocolate Cake.

Bjorkdidit · 22/12/2024 19:54

That's rather an ambitious list.

I think I'd offer a couple of things as a starter, turkey and the rest of the 'Christmas Dinner' stuff mid afternoon, puddings early evening, some of the buffet stuff with leftover turkey if anyone wants it later on and save about half the list for Boxing Day.

Will there be crusty bread for the pate and antipasti type stuff.

ProssecoSparkle · 22/12/2024 19:54

@titchy yeah it's all homemade by me, dh and dd. I like to push myself over the abyss Grin it's all a buffet not sit down. Starts at 2pm and people can just pick away all day/night.

@Bjorkdidit sorry forgot to add. Yeah I do have bread rolls on my list for the pate/soup and also antipasti bits.

Some grapes to go with the cheese?

It sounds lovely, I think I need to go and find something to eat after reading that!

NotbloodyGivingupYet · 22/12/2024 19:57

Don't think I'd bother with the soup.

Or the vol au vents, too much faff. Make it a bit easier on yourself, and have some french bread available for all the cheese and cooked meats. Hope you've got room in your freezer for the leftovers that's a lot of food. Sounds fabulous though.

ProssecoSparkle · 22/12/2024 19:58

Again apologies I have grapes/peaches/figs/celery/apple/chutneys etc for the cheeseboard.

It sounds an awful lot of food (though lovely) and I really don't like the idea of leaving food out most of the day in what will probably be quite a warm house? I'd probably hold some back and top it up at 'tea time'

I would take out cheese and pickle on sticks if you have a cheeseboard and unless someone is desperate for the steak bake it feels a little heavy?

OriginalUsername2 · 22/12/2024 19:59

I’m craving vol au vents, haven’t had one for years! This all sounds fantastic.

doodleschnoodle · 22/12/2024 20:00

Room for another? Sounds amazing!

RollerSkateLikePeggy · 22/12/2024 20:02

I'm just laughing at the fact your puddings are first on the list! Seems like that's where your priorities lie😃

ProssecoSparkle · 22/12/2024 20:02

Forgot to add bilinis with smoked salmon also 😳

I would rather just put it all out at once rather than be in and out the kitchen. @EatingSleeping it's not steak bake. Sorry its thin slices of steak. My kitchen doesn't have heating and is freezing. The cheese and pickle sticks are non negotiable Grin

Reallybadidea · 22/12/2024 20:04

It seems a bit random to me - lentil soup?! It's your buffet though so up to you.

ProssecoSparkle · 22/12/2024 20:05

@RollerSkateLikePeggy it's becouse I am petrified to forget them 🤣 they are for my kids and grandkids special requests. All the cheese is for me.

EatingSleeping · 22/12/2024 20:06

Oh I get it now. It's basically a wish list buffet with everyone's favourites. I think that's lovely!

ProssecoSparkle · 22/12/2024 20:06

My idea for Lentil soup is to put it in little shot glasses.

ProssecoSparkle · 22/12/2024 20:07

@EatingSleeping thank you 😊 honestly I spoil them so much. I am in far too deep now.

OP posts:
CoastalCalm · 22/12/2024 20:08

I really wouldn’t leave out dips for hours in a warm room , we all got food poisoning one year from doing this

ProssecoSparkle · 22/12/2024 20:09

@CoastalCalm good point. Will shove them back in the fridge and bring them out later if anyone wants them.

OP posts:
arethereanyleftatall · 22/12/2024 20:11

Um, it's quite a mixture! There's defo something for everyone there. A lot of it isn't really buffet food but meh, if it makes you happy.

Are you really home making all of it?!? Like the hummus and pastry and soup and everything?!?

OriginalUsername2 · 22/12/2024 20:12

ProssecoSparkle · 22/12/2024 20:06

My idea for Lentil soup is to put it in little shot glasses.

Not being picky (I wish I was invited!) but I think the soup would go cold quickly like that.
