They never hang up after a call and I can always hear them bickering in the background afterwards.

What else?

@AbigailsPartyFrock I'm 60ish too. If my parents were alive they would both be pushing 100-one from each direction. But by definition, most Mumsnetters must be 30ish or younger because most have young children. Which means that their parents will be 60ish. Not the Last of the Summer Wine characters they are represented as.

Yes also to the bags… jeez even this weekend when MIL visited - same every time. Shoes in a bag, presents in a bag (fair enough), phone and scarf and gloves in a bag, we thought you’d like these chocolates so and so gave us (also in its own separate bag).. the drama comes when they leave.. having now a couple of emptied out bags there’s the saga of “shall I leave you these bags” well if you like “oh well if you’ll use them you’re welcome to them” well I might do i will put them in the cupboard “well they would be handy for me too” well take them with you then “ well if you don’t mind” she dithers for ages thumbing the bags like she can’t bear to part with the fuckers. I will say well they do look like good strong bags “well I’ll take them with me then” FFS 🤦🏻‍♀️..

Descriptions of EVERYTHING! it's never just sausage and mash. It's loners leek and apple sausages with creamy mash with leeks in a cheese sauce with mustard... lovely cardigan, edge to edge with a fluted collar and 3 buttons

Bless her!!

I absolutely love this - sounds like an absolute sweetheart

I'm always puzzled by threads like this. Presumably most Mumsnetters have parents that are around 60? Or even younger. But they all seem to have the behaviours, attitudes and understanding of stereotyped OAPs from a 1980s sitcom. It's very weird.

I'd say that many MNetters have raised DCs around MN; it has been around for about 25 years, so they are likely 50-60 with parents 75+.

I think your confusion is likely caused by your own baseless assumptions.

While there are plenty of 20- and 30-somethings with young children on MN, there are also many in their 40s with young kids, and many in their 50s, 60s, and 70s with older children.
Plus, there are mumsnetters of all ages who don’t have children.
