This popped up on my Facebook profile so I thought I’d post it on here. My highlight was quitting drinking which led to losing a lot of weight & generally feeling so much better.

Two weeks on a Greek island with my bestie. A fortnight of doing absolutely bugger all and no responsibilities. Bliss.

RabbitsRock · 20/12/2024 07:58

unsync which island did you go to?

I quit drinking almost 4 years ago OP - it just gets better and better!

My highlight has been getting my dog, although not technically this year - we got him on 31st December. He's been the best thing we ever done as a family. It's been a terrible year for other reasons but he's brought so much joy to our lives!

UndeniablyGenX · 20/12/2024 08:06

Really struggling to find one. I suppose our summer holiday was the best bit, but even then, the weather wasn't that great (UK holiday).

MrsSethGecko · 20/12/2024 08:08

Lost 2 stone (still fat Grin) and got a new job that I love.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 20/12/2024 08:08

It’s not been the best year but getting our kitten was a definite highlight. DD finishing primary and starting secondary and our summer holiday in Egypt.

Notmydaughteryoubitch · 20/12/2024 08:11

I got signed off work for 5 months and had a bit of a break down from burn out (my counsellor calls it a break through!) - honestly best thing that could have happened to me, did so much work to understand myself and set better boundaries and addressing my drivers and I am so much better than I was this time last year, have much better coping strategies and feel much more happier in my own skin and am excited about how I can continue to grow next year.

DontBiteTheCat · 20/12/2024 08:12

Started University as a mature student!

It’s been a really shit year, but that makes me feel proud.

SleepDeprivedElf · 20/12/2024 08:14

Getting our house move done and seeing the kids deal so well with such a big change (central London to a wee village).

Apfelkuchen · 20/12/2024 08:14

Visiting Japan. Not sure 2025 is going to measure up after that.

Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair · 20/12/2024 08:19

Taking our campervan out on 2 great touring holidays.

Ditto!

But we did have our families with us so not completely absolved of responsibilities.

We went around a couple of the Ionian islands.

TheTwirlyPoos · 20/12/2024 08:22

It's been a good year

DH getting promoted
Seeing Taylor Swift
First weekend we've had alone since having children
Family holiday in South Africa

We have been very very lucky this year

daffodilandtulip · 20/12/2024 08:33

My daughter's face when she opened her A level results, which she'd worked so hard for (all A*).

SereneCapybara · 20/12/2024 08:36

I had three: seeing DS2 graduate; finally getting to see La Sagrada Familia and Casa Battlo which I'd wanted to see since I was a child (I'm almost retired) and reuniting with DSis and an old schoolfriend who we'd not seen for over forty years and we picked up where we left off and had the most brilliant few days together.

MeanderingGently · 20/12/2024 08:37
  1. Being signed off medically from a job which I hated but which I had to do to tide me over until I could retire - the utter relief!
  2. Getting the government letter to apply for my pension. Waited all my life for this, determined to enjoy it before the dementia sets in.....!
BeingATwatItsABingThing · 20/12/2024 08:39

Birth of my third DC - first DS - and watching his two big sisters absolutely adore him. It’s not all been sunshine and rainbows this year but he’s honestly just the happiest little boy!

Planesmistakenforstars · 20/12/2024 08:41

Cycling across Europe & a bit of Asia, from Calais to Cappadocia.

AnarchismUK · 20/12/2024 08:42

With a life limiting condition no year is a given. 2024 was special because youngest DC turned 18 (and passed her driving test). Six years ago, I'd never have dreamed I'd see her reach adulthood.
Second to that was seeing DS marry early this year. Next year the birth of his child (first GC) will be the top of the list.

zebranotzeebra · 20/12/2024 08:45

Getting married and finishing my Master's degree.

facepalmcustard · 20/12/2024 08:50

When my daughter spontaneously sprinkled extra cheese on her pasta (she has anorexia, it's been a tough year).

Also going surfing with my son. We couldn't have a family holiday because of his sister's treatment but me and their dad each did a week's holiday separately with him. A week in Portugal with a 15 year old boy was just what the doctor ordered at the time, I regressed to his level and we had a hilarious time 😁

unsync · 20/12/2024 08:57

@DoggoQuestions Just the two of us. The highlight of the highlight was just pottering about snorkeling and coming face to face with the most beautiful female Loggerhead turtle. I thought I would burst with joy.

troppibambini6 · 20/12/2024 09:02

Realising I don't want to drink any more. I've been toying with the idea of stopping completely and I think 2025 will be the year I do it.
I've lost almost 3 stone and I'm still going. I feel so much better about myself.

SparklingJoyous · 20/12/2024 09:06

The birth of my beautiful much wanted daughter. 💖

socks1107 · 20/12/2024 09:29

My daughter passing her a levels.
Passing her driving test.
My holidays - we are free from little children and it's been amazing!
