This popped up on my Facebook profile so I thought I’d post it on here. My highlight was quitting drinking which led to losing a lot of weight & generally feeling so much better.

Probably Disneyland Paris with my nearly 3 year old, something I dreamed I would do in the many years we TTC for her and much of it was just as magical as I hoped, seeing her little face light up. Taylor Swift with my two best friends was pretty great, my first night out like that in years.

worriedgal · 20/12/2024 09:33

Can I have 2 -

Being told dh cancer was grade 1 ,contained and no chemo needed after surgery.

Dd smashing her a levels while dealing with her dad's diagnosis and getting into her top choice uni and embracing uni life in a way we couldn't have imagined.

Worst moment was discovery of tumor and the waiting for grading etc .
It's been quite a year Confused

Amazing op, well done!

Mine is getting a job I’m obsessed with and really good at, after almost a decade spent very very happily as a SAHM. Didn’t see that one coming!!!! Grateful daily.

ThatArtfulOpalPoet · 20/12/2024 09:35

This year, I bravely quit my first job.

ImAnAutum · 20/12/2024 09:37

Getting to go to the Eras Tour, twice. Genuinely 2 of the best days of my life so far.

georgepigg · 20/12/2024 09:43

Ah I love all these so much! 🥲🥲🥲

ouch44 · 20/12/2024 09:50

Also DS getting better than predicted Alevels. A** (star) A (star) A and now really happy at Uni loving his course and social life. I was a sobbing wreck before he went worried about him being able to cope but just so happy now he is happy. We went to meet him this week and I could see his dept where he was in and my heart was just so full of pride and happiness for him

Some shares that I'd bought a few years ago increased enough in value that I can retire next year. A huge risk at the time paying off handsomely now.

millymoo1202 · 20/12/2024 10:22

Getting on a plane on my own to see Taylor Swift with my adult daughter. Finally meeting a decent man after 5 years of being single

3 wonderful holidays
Lost 3 stone - life changing I feel fabulous

elliejjtiny · 20/12/2024 11:33

Going on a family day out that I chose mostly because it was cheap and it turned out to be a really good day

Seeing my 11 year old and his best from who both have learning disabilities. They are always smiling and they absolutely adore each other. there is none of the eye rolling and sighing that usually comes with children that age and you just have to do one tiny nice thing for them and they are so happy. I can't describe just how lovely they are but it's an absolute privilege to be a part of their lives.

Various holidays - always a highlight.
We downsized this year into a fabulous apartment which I love. But DH was ill at the same time which overshadowed that a bit. He retired at that point too - so maybe more fun for him than me as I am still slaving away.

Dd entered a competition in her Uni faculty for a bursary to do a modern version of the Grand Tour - and she announced this morning that she won! Her application was amazing and she will now do a 3 week, expenses - paid trip round Europe after she graduates next June. She is super excited and I am really proud of her. Her tour is cinema related and she will do the Sound of Music tour in Salzburg. I am very jealous and hope she might let me fly out to join her for that bit :)

TeenToTwenties · 20/12/2024 13:30

Dd finally passing her English.

MferMonsterSearchingForRedemption · 20/12/2024 13:33

Going to Rome for 8 days.

This year has been a shocking one, but going to Rome was something special.

Middlemarch123 · 20/12/2024 13:35

Quitting teaching and setting up my little dog walking business! Give me naughty spaniels over hormonal teenagers any day!

Quitting teaching was the highlight of my 2022! The relief I felt was immense!

hellohellooo · 20/12/2024 14:20

Short trip to Croatia
Holiday in Spain
Taylor at Wembley
Beach days in the summer at the ocean

Losing three stone 😯😯

Also paying my wonderful builder the 50k I owed him (was so worried I could only pay small bits here and there but managed it much quicker )

Nannyfannybanny · 20/12/2024 14:25

Finding out my "probably malignant" kidney tumour wasn't malignant and my cardiac echo showed I apparently have the heart of a 25 year old,no blocked arteries or visceral fat,I'm 74!

Penguinsn · 20/12/2024 21:36

Been a really good year.
DD got into Oxford University and has now started and loves it, nice friends, good course and lots of sport and parties.
I went on a lovely trip to Borneo with DD and we saw lots of wildlife including orangutan.
I got my dream job and have started it and love it.
I am 3 years clear of cancer and also got my delayed DIEP operation which went well from and now recovered from and back to swimming a lot again.

kc92 · 20/12/2024 21:44

Welcoming my rainbow baby in the dreamiest birth. Seeing how much his big brother loves him already - he runs over to him every morning to pat his face and say "HELLO BABY" or "oh, he's awake!" when he's clearly sleeping, so he can give him a kiss or a hug.

Closely followed by moving in to our new home, and finding the right shade of blonde for my skin tone. (It's been a long hair battle.)

thenewaveragebear1983 · 20/12/2024 21:56

Watching the sunrise at the top of Pen Y fan one cold morning in May.

So many - 2024 was fantastic!

  • Meeting and falling head over heels with someone wholly inappropriate! The rave we met at was my favourite day of 2024 so far. It was short-lived but the absolute best of times.
  • a trip to Lake Bled
  • my birthday week - gloriously OTT, multiple celebrations with my wonderful friends
  • landing a great job overseas and emigrating to a country/city I've wanted to move to for years
  • my last few weeks in London - similar to my birthday week, phenomenally OTT with multiple leaving parties / nights out
PermanentTemporary · 21/12/2024 01:06

Lovely thread.

Dp and I went to Berlin - I've wanted to go for over ten years and it was even better than I hoped for.
