Do you feel or really do look daft in winter hats?

My mum has sent me a black bobble hat. One of those with a fake fur bobble. It gave me quite the turn when I opened the envelope and touched the furry bobble first as it gave me the sensation of stroking a dead animal.

I got over this distressful upsetment and it's very warm and cosy. I have worn it outside the house today. I teamed it with a slightly above the knee black dress/skirt, black opaque tights and black lace up ankle boots. I also wore a black not suede/microfiber biker jacket. (You know the type of thing.) I am very tall, lanky and ginger.

"Oh look! It's Santa's mafia elf." was said by a friend. I do live in Corsica so we often think of organised crime.

The less said about my Monsoon amethyst/purple jewelled béret the better and my tam o'shanter look was pretty dire as well.

I just look awful in winter hats. Then of course you have the winter hat with glasses look which is another minefield.

How do you manage to look good in a winter hat? Or do you just put it on and swallow your pride for the sake of warmth?

Then again, summer hats are another minefield. There is one really good photo of me in a green army bucket hat thing in which I look really cool but otherwise...

I have a fringe so any and all hats are off-limits to me, regardless of the season. I can just about manage a vintage pillbox perching type affair but everything else pushes my hair into my eyes and looks stupid to boot.

I’m to be found in a bobble hat from October till about March on my dog walks - I hate having a hood up so wear my bobble with pride.

Everyone looks excellent in a winter hat. I’ve literally never seen anyone ever look rubbish in a winter hat. You’re over thinking it.

A completely black, non cosy outfit with a bobble hat is choice though. Put on a winter coat and the hat will fit right in.

You need a Big Bobble Hat! Larger than life bobbles with amazing colour combinations. Mind you, I'm in Scotland where lots of people wear winter hats from October onwards.

I look awful in all hats - winter or summer! I hate the feel of them squishing my hair/head & get too hot, & as I usually wear my hair in a ponytail the hats never sit right.
I've more of less given up unless absolutely necessary.

I have a fake fur hat and often get told it suits me. I would rather be warm so even if I did get negative comments I would still wear it. A lot of people ask where I got it from.

My dress had the odd lilac spriggy pattern in it and I was wearing a lilac scarf with black deer/stags on it as well from Fable. (I think I'm digging myself into a sartorial hole here.)

It has warmed up to -21 today. You bet I’m wearing a hat, regardless of how stupid I might look wearing it.

I bloody love a good winter hat, bobble or not. I have a really luxurious deep red one with a white bobble, which sounds absurd but it's absolutely lovely. 😂 It suits my colouring and the bobble is what makes it! Have the same in a powder blue. Last year DH bought me this multi coloured knitted thing that I thought I'd hate. Nope. It looks good!

(Tbh I'm the same in summer...my sun hat collection is vast, and ranges from straw to rainbow with a flower! I don't care. I love them!)

What kind of winter coat, please? The last time I wore a long line black puffa jacket, the cry went up, "Exterminate, Exterminate!" because I looked like a dalek.

I always feel daft in them - they're usually too big and I spend all my time pushing the out of my eyes, or the time I bought a child's one which tried to pop off my head every 10 seconds. I bought a 1920s style flowerpot hat,thinking how glamorous other women looked in them - I loked like my gran in her latter years.
Doesn't stop me searching for the perfect hat though maybe a brown bag

I look amazing in a bobble hat. I have tons. Mostly kids from Emm and S. I have a size 7 head, it's tiny. Everyone looks fab in a bobble hat.

I really dislike hats, bobble hats are for kids, even worse when adults don't pull them down properly and there's a big pointed peak at the top of their heads. I think if someone is bald then a hat is ok but as a rule hats are horrid.

I'm of an age where I wear what I want without giving two shits, one positive of menopause. But putting that aside if you like it and feel comfortable wear it.

I have to get the balance right, fairly chunky knit but not toooo chunky. Ribbed knit not smooth . Little fold at the bottom. Anything without the little turn up fold I look like Pootle.

I hate myself in any hat but I’ve got a range of bobble hats that I’ve been gifted over the years and I’ve finally caved having to walk a dog in the cold evenings 😂 DH says I look cute but he has to say that doesn’t he 😅
I don’t think other people think we look as ridiculous as we do.. maybe that’s wishful thinking 🤷🏻‍♀️

I look ludicrous in all manner of hats however I am old enough and ugly enough not to care, as long as they do the job I require of them, ie. keep me snug in the cold or keep the sun out of my eyes.

I have an amazing long bobble hat (think elf on the shelf type hat). It was knitted in Peru in the most beautiful soft heather colours. I bought it at The Eden Project in Cornwall years ago. I love it, I don’t care what I look like in it! 😂

I have short hair so any hat I wear makes me look like a boiled egg with a tea cosey on 🙁

Some people look effortlessly ace in hats.

I don't. I have bobble hat envy. I wear glasses and have frizzy hair. I watch people whip off their hats, scrape their hair into a beautiful messy do (that would take me an hour with a mirror!) and look ridiculously wonderful for the rest of the day. It's not fair
