Thats it really it i hate wrapping.

Loose the pen down the side of the sofa. Loose the end of the tape , Loose the scissors. Forget who's i just wrapped before it's labeled. Question if I have been fair . Door bell rings. Dogs jump all over the place. Everything gos flying. Loose everything all over again.

Each of my dcs. Dh and I all have our own colored paper.
No worrying about labels.

Tape dispenser stops tape loss.

bloodredfeaturewall · 14/12/2024 19:12

gift boxes and bags all the way.

though last year I got boxes that needed an engineering degree to assemble.

WhatIDoIsEnough · 14/12/2024 19:14

When I say a color each it doesn't have to be the same design.

Dc1 has variations of blue
Dc2 silver
Dc3 pink
Dc 4 red

Dh gold plain
Myself gold pattern

Santa theme for stocking

I reuse gift bags- some are 10yrs old! Generally bought for 20p in the after Christmas sales! If I do wrap, a heavy dispenser like this is a gamechanger www.staples.co.uk/packaging-mailing/packaging-tape-and-dispensers/rapesco-germ-savvy-500-tape-dispenser-heavy-duty-black-rptd500b/?agp=1&dip=707684&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA9vS6BhA9EiwAJpnXw-bXiMENhEiHFSsoqCtEoBttkxWKatQG0I6YY9Otp2qpy0X7KNkIABoC4PUQAvD_BwE

MIL's idea of 'wrapping' is leaving it in the carrier bag she bought it in and plonking it under the tree! No label either! 1 year I got a scarf, which also had a bag of soggy, defrosed veg in it! Another time I got spider man underpants in a boys size 6, because she'd got the bags mixed up! 🙄

Something interesting streaming wise on my tablet. Paper, scissors, tape dispenser and adhesive Xmas labels to hand. I just crack on. Much faster these days with all the little squares on the reverse of the paper. Only adults get ribbons

I hate wrapping with every fibre of my being

Preach!!

Presents mostly all bought. Have yet to wrap a single item

HurdyGurdy19 · 14/12/2024 19:36

I quite like wrapping, but I do it little and often. Everyone has their own paper, so no need for labels. Granddaughter likes to distribute the gifts on Christmas Day, so she has a "key" showing each person's name, and their paper, so she know who to give each gift to.

I tend to wrap each gift as I buy it, which cuts down on the backache! But if I've got a load all in one go, I will wrap for 30 minutes and then have a break.

I use cheaper paper, as it's easier to mould around awkward items.

🤣. I used to be the only 1 who bought for my children. I just used to wrap and just ad their names. No who from etc . Out of habit I did the same with ex and his mum . They were trying to work out for ages who the gift was from.

At least you are at the wrapping stage! Christmas 🎄 presents not bought yet and won't be for a while...

I have some bad news for you. You have 10 days! 😬

@I4gotmyname I agree. I have 47 presents to wrap (for 13 different people,) and I haven't even started wrapping them yet. Not even written the bloody cards out yet! I have bought all the presents though. (Though 5 of them haven't been delivered yet.)

I have had loads to wrap to . I buy for 10 people. My kids get quite a bit. Because I try and do what I had as a kid . But its getting a bit much money wise. But there were several adults in my family back then. I do start in July. But I am going to slow it down next year

I quite enjoy it. You HAVE to have a decent tape dispenser, that makes things easier. I wrap at the table. Adult children and husband all get a different colour theme so I can keep on top of it all and wrap on different days if needed. All other extended family get wrapped in last years coloured themed papers.

I do exactly the same. I buy 3 hew rolls of wrapping paper each year. Tonight I wrapped DD's, I'll do DH later this week and DD & DH will do mine on Christmas Eve. Gifts for anyone else are wrapped in the leftovers the following year.

I hate writing Christmas cards more

MissAmbrosia · 14/12/2024 20:55

I don't hate it but I'm not very good at it. We each have a colour to keep it simple, I can't be arsed with cards and ribbons - it's just waste and no-one really cares about the wrapping anyway.

I4gotmyname · 14/12/2024 20:57

The grim reaper just knocked at my door . He was all in black . With his hood up and its dark out side. He was holding this.. see pic. And he said hello (my first name) i guess you have to be there. But fml it throw me for a few seconds I know i looked at him strangely

I only buy for my DD but have used brown paper and garden twine for years.

SausageinaBun · 14/12/2024 21:06

We use bags, the same ones every year. Things that don't fit in a bag get a blanket over them. I'd love to claim that this is for environmental reasons, but it's more that I hate wrapping. I also hate clearing up the pile of wrapping paper.

cadentiasidera · 14/12/2024 23:23

I love wrapping in fabric now, it's a game changer. Takes minutes!

The only thing that makes it tolerable is using one of the old school weighted sellotape dispensers for one handed sellotape procurement.

No dispenser, no wrapping.

Exactly! Mine was one I took out of the bin at school, it had been used in the office but the bottom was loose and the sand which weighted it was escaping. I took it home and used sellotape to hold the case plate in place! The blade is not very sharp now so I might invest in a new one.

Flatandhappy · 15/12/2024 05:44

Me too and I am crap at it. Luckily DD absolutely loves it so has done all mine apart from her own presents for the last few years. Delegate if you can.

PinkSkiesAtNight · 15/12/2024 06:51

I love it! Presents get wrapped in whatever paper there is, then I write the name of recipient in gold/silver marker straight on the present. Old school heavy duty sellotape dispenser is a must.

I'll come and wrap all your presents, if you'll come and put away/hang all my clothes. I can do DS' , but I bloody hate doing mine, and it ends up, folded, on the chairdrobe until there's about 3 loads worth and I have to do it or there'll be a clothes landslide.

MrsMontyD · 15/12/2024 07:12

I don't mind wrapping unless it's in a last minute panic, that's never enjoyable.

I tend to do it over a few sessions. For those in the household I allocate a wrapping paper (one for presents and one for stocking fillers) so no labels.

I don't buy for many other people, but generally they get a gift bag and I write on the tag.

MrsMontyD · 15/12/2024 07:13

Oh, and I recommend an "on the hand" tape dispenser.

Lifestooshort71 · 15/12/2024 07:24

When they're young, children love ripping off gaudy paper (part of Christmas!) but adults all get gift bags with some tissue paper wrapped loosely round the gift - this also works when children get older. We all reuse bags where possible just replacing gift tags, and drone on about saving the planet under our breath.

Blarn · 15/12/2024 07:28

Sellotape dispenser. Game changer.

Get a proper weighty office-type one and it will transform wrapping.

RampantIvy · 15/12/2024 07:30

Gift bags are a game changer. I only buy for 6 people now, plus a secret Santa, and I only use gift bags. I re-use the gift bags for my immediate family as we always have Christmas at home.

I use magic tape on a dispenser for sealing the top as it can be peeled off easily.
