Probably sounds a bit over the top . But om so pisssed off . Just as im getting on top of everything ik my house. That my house actually feels normal and not like a constant shithole. I'm just starting to feel good about my house.

What happens my washing machine has a drain error. All I need to do is open that the drain pump bit at the front . It will not open. I have tried and tried. Teen ds has tried to . I can't do a call out because its to expensive. No insurance etc. And I'm pissed of because of the fact its over something so stupid . I'm gonna have to get a new bloody machine because of a non opening pump ffs

Rant over. Of anyone has any ideas how I may be able to open the pump/filter please could you let me know.

I promise thats exactly what mine did. Less than a quarter turn and would go no more, until a much stronger man came along and got it to turn. Trust me, I tried and tried through sheer frustration that it was defeating me.
You definitely, 100% don't need a new machine. Just ask someone very strong to do it. It will budget. My DP doesn't lift weights or anything (and I do, hence my absolute annoyance at this crappy design!). But unfortunately men have much better upper body strength than women, thanks mother nature!!!

I have already asked my son he can't do it . No one else to ask. I'm going to get some pliers this morning

@I4gotmyname try and get some wd40 too. It should loosen off the plug if its really stuck on. Good luck x

biscuitsandbooks · 13/12/2024 09:00

Ask on Facebook for a handyman or something to come over - they'll probably charge a nominal fee to come and help you but it's much cheaper than a new machine!

MagpiePi · 13/12/2024 09:08

Get some pipe grips if you can - you get more leverage with the longer handles, especially if you kind of turn them sideways a bit.

I'm so pissed off
RoseDog · 13/12/2024 09:29

There is probably something wedged in it stopping it from turning, just keep giving it a wee wiggle back and forth and it might release what ever is jammed then you will be able to open it and remove the object.

Rub Vaseline around the rubber seals with cotton buds and then gently try and turn - remember loosy lefty, righty tighty

I don't understand. You don't have the money for a handyman yet are jumping straight to impulse buying a new machine?

I can get the machine on credit and pay over time. I can't do that with a handyman type thing.

Plus when I set the machine into drain it fills up. So maybe there's more wrong with it. I don't know but either way I can't get credit with a handy man.

I had identical issue in the past and called someone out. They topped the washing machine backwards to it was only the back 2 corners were on the floor, front 2 were only an inch or 2 off the floor. No idea why - think it helped with draining?! But after that the bit at front turned really easily

Get some locking pliers, attach them like the pic and tap with a hammer. It should help loosen the cover.

You don’t need a new machine! Mine does this all the time because of bloody dog hair.

It’ll save you a load of money if you can get the drain open. As others have suggested, try spraying it with some WD40 then either use pliers to turn it or a screwdriver and a hammer to give it a gentle tap. Be careful not to break the plastic so use a cloth over the top.

Remember… righty tighty, lefty loosey… you need to be turning it anticlockwise.

Keep persevering Op. Mine did the same thing and when it finally moved (with brute force) there was a reusable makeup pad caught in the drain cover which had stopped it moving.

Ihatelittlefriendsusan · 13/12/2024 14:28

Do you have a neighbour you cam ask or a friend with a husband/bf you could borrow?

I am a capable woman and til dh moved in last year I had lived alone with dd for 6 years.

I had the same issue and couldn't get it to budge. Luckily a friend lent me her boyfriend a d he managed to get it shifted.

Have you tried the WD40 - you said upthread you hadn't bought it when you went out?

Also, if your son is stronger, have you got him to try with the pliers?

It'll only be about £20 - I appreciate that's a lot if you don't have it, but it's much, much cheaper than a new machine!

knackeredmu · 13/12/2024 16:26

So it's probably suction - ours was a nightmare but we will finally shifted it and crap / water went everywhere
