How many Christmas cards are you sending this year?

Precisely zero here.

I used to send one to an elderly aunt who is no longer with us so this year I am not sending any at all.

I have received one card from a cousin and one from the hairdressers!

Anyway it’s a relief so I’m not sorry the days of sending about fifty are gone plus I wouldn’t be able to afford it any more!

Am I typical? Are you sending any cards this year?

Not so many. I love sending and receiving cards but we hardly receive any so given the costs of postage I'm not sending to anyone who doesn't send to us any more. I do miss having a house full of cards.

babasaclover · 12/12/2024 15:53

None same as ever. Very freeing!!!

Scutterbug · 12/12/2024 15:54

None. Have received just a handful,

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 12/12/2024 15:58

None. Canada Post have been on strike since November 14th.

AuntieMarys · 12/12/2024 15:58

Zero. Haven't sent them for at least 6 years

SENMUMwhatnext · 12/12/2024 15:59

I’m on a mission to cut back on the parts of Christmas I don’t enjoy.

252833z · 12/12/2024 15:59

6...all neighbours, no posting required.
I wouldn't even bother, but they always give one to us.
I stopped posting the few family cards years ago.
When the card box is empty.....
I'll probably have to buy another box, darn it :(

YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME · 12/12/2024 15:59

About 10 maximum

SybilTheSpy · 12/12/2024 16:00

To the elderly people in my life who I know still value Christmas cards.

ByMerryKoala · 12/12/2024 16:01

About 10.

baddecisionsmakegreatcompany · 12/12/2024 16:03

zero so far but we have lots of elderly neighbours and relatives who still send… I would prefer not to reciprocate as it’s so expensive and not environmentally friendly but I don’t want them to think I don’t care. I might see if I can find any New Year cards and send with a couple of family photos in January. Have entirely missed for international posting! It’s so stressful I hate it 🤷🏼‍♀️

CraftyGin · 12/12/2024 16:07

None

Bignanna · 12/12/2024 16:07

25- I enjoy receiving cards, the people I send them to do as well. E greetings aren’t as good. The people who begrudge the cost of second class stamps once a year don’t mind wasting more than that on a takeaway!

Liv999 · 12/12/2024 16:07

I'm still debating whether to send the few I usually send every year, thought I had some left over from last year but when I went looking I realised I must have binned them, which means I have to go out and buy a new pack and time is running out so...

GameOfJones · 12/12/2024 16:10

I sent 5 this year and that number has decreased year on year. I only now send to an elderly aunt and uncle who I know like to receive them plus close relatives that I live far away from and won't see.

I feel sad about it. I used to love all the cards we would receive when I was a child and my parents used to blu tack them to the glass of the dining room door 🤣. But with the cost of stamps nowadays I just can't justify sending them to random cousins, people we don't speak to all year etc. I've never given cards to people we will actually see over Christmas as it feels a bit pointless so that's not changed.

mysparkleismissing · 12/12/2024 16:13

3 - parents, hubbie and son
I donate to charity in lieu of the rest

Hubbie has sent 30/40 to his friends and his side family

hattie43 · 12/12/2024 16:16

2 for those who would be disappointed without . Everyone else I've said no as have friends . We are all donating to our favourite charities instead

pizzaHeart · 12/12/2024 16:18

i think 22?.
I’ve bought 20 and run out plus spoiled 2 accidentally. Only 4 go by post.

Joolsin · 12/12/2024 16:18

52, I love them and would receive about the same number.

Zippedydodah · 12/12/2024 16:19

Hand delivering 8 to my neighbours, sending three - god daughter, DS and DD.
Dh is sending 2.
That’s it!

ThatIsNotMyNameSoWhyAreYouCallingMeThat · 12/12/2024 16:21

Not sent any for over 25 years.

Dutchhouse14 · 12/12/2024 16:22

About 50, I enjoy sending and receiving cards, the one time of year the postman delivers something nice!
Also look lovely on the ribbon I hang up on picture rail so it's part of our decorations and not in the way.
However numbers have definitely dwindled and my teen /young adult DC don't send to anyone other than closest family, they dont do birthday cards to friends either so guess card sending is dying out.
But I love sending and receiving cards !!
Not a fan of digital cards, used to like the animated ones in the late 1990s when it was all new and exciting, now I'm less impressed, can't display that on a card ribbon!
Also I don't believe in all this donating to charity instead crap, Its perfectly possible to donate to charity AND send cards, it's just laziness disguised as virtue signalling and I bet loads of people who publicly announce they will donate to charity instead never actually get round to donating either....
I'm 53 BTW not 93!
