How many Christmas cards are you sending this year?

Precisely zero here.

I used to send one to an elderly aunt who is no longer with us so this year I am not sending any at all.

I have received one card from a cousin and one from the hairdressers!

Anyway it’s a relief so I’m not sorry the days of sending about fifty are gone plus I wouldn’t be able to afford it any more!

Am I typical? Are you sending any cards this year?

A handful to elderly relatives and one to an elderly friend. I write and receive fewer and fewer every year.

ItsBlowinAHoolieOut · 12/12/2024 16:25

Apart from my dcs and parents.
I think 6 to close friends.

I used to do all neighbours,.friends we rarely see , cousins, aunts etc.

I agree it's a relief

About 50, I posted 30 this morning and the other 20 or so are local. Usually receive about the same number, it has gradually reduced over the years from about 75. I still like receiving them and they all go in a wire holder so hardly take up any space.

25- I enjoy receiving cards, the people I send them to do as well. E greetings aren’t as good. The people who begrudge the cost of second class stamps once a year don’t mind wasting more than that on a takeaway!

Delicious food is not a waste! A piece of paper for the bin is though.

I have never sent a christmas card, nor an E greeting.

CurlewKate · 12/12/2024 16:31

None. I send a FB Happy Christmas message and individual emails, texts or WhatsApps to closer friends and family.

GroovyChick87 · 12/12/2024 16:33

None, can't be bothered. My kids have sent them to school friends.

Notmanyleftnow · 12/12/2024 16:34

About 30. The older I get, the more they mean to me.
Am 54.

Bah humbug! Not just a piece of paper, it’s a reminder someone is thinking of you , often contains a letter, and they’re recycled into notelets for shopping list etc. .

ThePoshUns · 12/12/2024 16:42

None. I haven't sent any in over 10 years, so wasteful. I don't like receiving them either they go straight on the recycling.

ChaosHol1 · 12/12/2024 16:42

Six - Dad and Stepmum, Grandad, Nana, Nanas partner, Father in Law, Sister in Law.

Vates · 12/12/2024 16:43

Just 1. To my Aunt & Uncle who appreciate cards. Not bothering with any others.

Thedishwasherbroke · 12/12/2024 16:48

One to elderly great-aunt, a couple accompanying parcels of posted gifts in lieu of a gift tag as such and signed a couple of group ones sent on behalf of a club to some elderly former members. That’s it. I used to do dozens, but just couldn’t be bothered about ten years ago when unwell that winter and just never restarted. These days with Facebook etc I keep up with old friends that way - I have nothing new to say in a Christmas card.

ToddlerMumma · 12/12/2024 17:05

I've sent 40 so far including family, friends and neighbours. Stamps were nearly £45!!

cleanasawhistle · 12/12/2024 17:07

I have managed to get it down to 30 and only seven of those need posted.
Only received one so far

myladybelle · 12/12/2024 17:09

I send about 60, probably receive 30. Some close relatives don't send me any but what am I going to do, send to friends but not my own sister ?!

ByQuaintAzureWasp · 12/12/2024 17:14

I've sent 3 ... each contained christmas present of money.

FlatStanley50 · 12/12/2024 17:20

24 - DD's school does the Christmas card fundraising thing and I buy a couple of packs of her design, but when she finishes primary school I look forward to not having to send any. I don't get 24 back so I don't think people will miss them. She also sends them to her classmates and teachers.

DilemmaDelilah · 12/12/2024 17:22

4 elderly relatives
1 elderly friend of my deceased mother
2 sisters and 1 BIL who I won't see over Christmas
1 Stepdaughter and family who we won't see at Christmas

That's about it I think.

SavingTheBestTillLast · 12/12/2024 17:24

We post about 20.
All friends and relatives that live abroad or far away.
I’ll hand deliver ones to cousins ( 6 in total ) when I visit the area to put wreaths on family graves

BeachRide · 12/12/2024 17:24

None, since sending them out in early December last year, and some not arriving until early February!

Margorett · 12/12/2024 17:24

1 to my mother.

notlisteningwithmother · 12/12/2024 17:26

Reduced numbers sent and received over the last few years. I still send to older relatives who we don't see very often and who appreciate a letter and photo of DCs. But most of our friends send emails and cards, or just video call for a chat instead which is nice. I miss having cards displayed but the costs of postage are getting prohibitive.

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 12/12/2024 17:28

Three. To some older relatives who feel cards are important. It matters to them so I do it.

ohtowinthelottery · 12/12/2024 17:28

About 30 - 20 have been posted, the rest will be hand delivered.
We've normally received a lot more than we have by now, so can only assume that others are no longer bothering.
