Mysterious Drones flying over New Jersey and other places including the UK.

What to make of this?

Apparently military grade drones have been spotted flying around the New Jersey skies at night in a decidedly unstealthy fashion.

Also reports have come in from the UK and Europe that similar craft have been observed in the airspace above military bases.

Are they trying out new kit in preparation for world war three? Is the Russians? Is it aliens? Is it too many beers on the back porch?

It seems that the New Jersey drones knocked it off on the day of Thanksgiving, which suggests to me that they were US military in origin.

Unless that's exactly what that dastardly Putin would want us to think, Captain Blackadder!

Or the aliens come in peace and stopped invading for a day as a mark of respect for local traditions.

Probably some geek who's bored

The trousers I ordered for my mother’s Christmas present finally arrived and they’re inexplicably shiny. I have to sort out the return and find a suitable alternative. I haven’t even started decorating the house yet. I don’t have time for alien invasions or geopolitical posturing.

Look a bit like LEO satellites to me.

Could possibly be some local geeks but don’t forget the great Gatwick drone mystery of 2018….which quite possibly was triggered by nothing at all or at most just one idiot with a drone or model aircraft.

It will be interesting to see what evidence the US Feds are collecting…hope it’s more than just eye witness reports…

Edited

But the shine on the trousers could deflect and momentarily blind the 'Muricans, Ruskies or aliens and save us from Mutually Assured Destruction. (MAD) All you have to do is make your mother lie in the back garden and kick her legs in the air a bit. It's a similar strategy to the ack ack gunners in the last world war and could prove highly effective.

If we need a coordinated defense someone on the S&B board recently bought metallic jeans.

Russian or Chinese spies. What I don't understand is why aren't the US military sending a helicopter up there to find out what they are. Or send up one of their drones if it's unsafe for a helicopter. I can't believe they're just standing around going "duh, what are those drone things guys?"

I personally believe that they are air defence. I started off this thread as being a bit jokey but the best way to protect critical infrastructure is to get us up there first. Remember 9/11?

Who flipping knows though?

They're in Philly now as well.

And this.

Could be something, could be nothing.

Well…a lot of the images in the second CBS video are out of focus but the object shown at roughly 50 seconds looks very much like a fixed wing aircraft to me (the beam of the landing light is visible), the next one also looks very like a fixed wing aircraft, possible the same one, given the configuration of what look like running/position lights and also the strobes.

Not saying that’s what CBS have shown there is typical of what the general public are seeing, and there might be some nonsense going on with drones, but CBS are being a bit naughty with some of that footage.

Also worth (maybe ) having a read of the Guardian article I posted upthread re Gatwick. One theory there is a lot of the mayhem that Christmas was probably caused by “expectation”..people had heard the drone story so were looking up perhaps more than normal.

Anything they then saw that was difficult to perceive accurately in poor light (hovering birds of prey, helicopters at a distance) were assumed to be yet more drones and reported as such.

This is LBC. Which I realise might be thought of as fake news or obviously crackers but I don't live in the UK anymore and I'm just a wide eyed idiot really.

They're not normal drones that geeks can but.

They're the size of SUVs!

Problem is if these objects are only being seen at night (are they?) people can find it very very difficult to accurately judge range and therefore object size…

If they are drones and not distant aircraft or helicopters then are people looking at big “pro” drones a long way away or amateur flown drones not far away (with apologies to Father Ted)

Still think it's just geeks with toy drones?

This is the governor of New Jersey!

"As soon as we get eyes on them they go dark"

He's not talking about eyes either, that's military talk for radars

I sat behind/used various radars during my working years, including for a for short time military ones and I honestly don’t think you can automatically draw that conclusion from the language used.

I think what he is saying whenever they are spotted (by whatever means, visual whatever) they are supposedly disappearing from view…that’s all.

ReginaVanilla · 10/12/2024 14:06

This is very intriguing and vexing. I HAVE to know what these drones are and why they're there .

I find it so interesting that it's not being reported much

There are 3 possible main scenarios at play

1- Alien crafts openly fly about and the Airforce know this and cannot retaliate for fear of reprisal.

2- Foreign technology. They are not claiming the crafts as USA technology and I find it hard to believe that these could be Russian/Chinese etc...do you really believe the US army wouldn't blow them to smithereens?

3- They ARE US technology but the gov are not admitting to that, why? Do they want people to believe there are UAPs in the sky and there is a security threat to the country? What benefit could that have? What powers could the Gov implement in a time of crisis?

Not true though as hundreds of people have spotted them visually (how else would thwy be reporting them if thwy cant see them) and so many people have successfully filmed them. There are dozens upon dozens of videos online of them.
So they are able to be seen and filmed for long amounts of time. They do not dissappear when viewed or filmed.

Which suggests they are talking about radar and other detection technologies.
When they attempt to track them they 'go dark'

Members of the public are also reporting that when they try and send their own domestic drones up to film them closely the drones won't work. This can be described as a technology blackout and is very common in UFO stories

I don't have a clue what they are but I find it so fascinating, especially alot of the information coming through social media

IncessantNameChanger · 10/12/2024 14:34

My local FB community boar recommends throwing a towel over them.or a waterpistol. On that basis, I think we could shoot one down if needed. But who knows? Get a water pistol snd a beach towel in case. Can't be too careful. I suspect Russia more than Aliens.

notimagain · 10/12/2024 14:38

It’s p fine to keep an open mind and not rule out Russians or Little Green Men but we really need to be careful.

Human perception really really isn’t great in low light or at night and most of the general public don’t really look at the night sky so aren’t really aware of what normal objects can do - for example aircraft can change appearance rapidly or even pretty much disappear rapidly from view if their aspect to an observer changes because they are for example turning…yes there are videos (many blurred) but even the MSM have fallen into the trap of capturing fixed wing aircraft so excuse me if I remain a bit sceptical about some of what has been broadcast.

There’s also the problem that we’re not generally great at being objective observers and our perceptions can be dramatically skewed by expectation or suggestions.

Some of the people who teach Human Performance have got some great party tricks that can confound even those the general public might think of as “trained observers” (e.g. law enforcement, commercial pilots).

So one possibility is the story gets out to the general public that there’s an outbreak of drones in a part of the world where there’s a lot of air traffic, you then maybe throw into the mix an increased number of police helicopters you’ve got a lot of ingredients needed for a very high level of false reports.

As said at the top, it would be wrong to rule out LGM or bad guys but ATM you have to very much rule in the possibility this could all end up a being down to a handful of idiots/pranksters, at most.

My kids both have those sequinny t-shirts that blind you if the light catches them at the wrong angle. 👍
