What are you up to tonight?

In on my own tonight, DH working away, DS out with his friends and DD away at Uni.

Had a lovely afternoon having coffee with a couple of friends. How on the sofa with a glass of wine, my old chocolate lab, watching Strictly, blanket over us both. Nice and toastie.

We don't have loads of spare cash, we're 'OK' I suppose, but I am feeling very content with the world right now and it's made me realise that I need to not whinge about not having enough of this or that and be grateful for what I do have.

What are you up to tonight?

Just put the Xmas tree up with the teens. I was surprised ds 15 was really keen for us to do it together. Watching football now with a glass of wine 😊

wildthingsinthenight · 07/12/2024 19:25

That sounds lovely OP.
I am in Christmas PJs drinking hot chocolate and reading on the sofa while my DH and DS noisily watch football on tv

librauk · 07/12/2024 19:26

@TitaniasAss
Exactly the same on the sofa, with the dog, Border collie, watching strictly.

Isitfridayyetsophie · 07/12/2024 19:31

Sounds like you’ve had a nice day, OP.

We braved the winds and went to a local pub for a roast with some friends, had a lovely time but froze on the walk home!

My son complained he was tired so had an early night. My husband and I are on the sofa,
I’m under a heated blanket and we’re watching Bridget Jones’ Diary. We have just made a really rich hot chocolate, it’s about 40% actual melted chocolate, so I’m sure I’ll feel quite sick soon! I’m planning an early night as we have 2 4 year old’s birthday parties tomorrow, feeling tired at the thought!

mamaduckbone · 07/12/2024 19:38

Absolutely nothing! Had a busy day Christmas shopping, buying the Christmas tree and food shopping. Ds is at his gf's so one of us will have to pick him up later, but for now we're lazing on the sofa in front of the fire watching a film.

Julia34 · 07/12/2024 19:40

To cold to go out and do anything got no energy even

MsXmasGGMasterTwat · 07/12/2024 19:41

Home alone too. Just home from picking up DC1 from A and dropping them off at B. I’m going to have wine, lobster and chocolate in my pjs under a blanket on the sofa.

My shopping is coming at 7am tomorrow so I won’t drink very much as I’m no good at it.

KittyPup · 07/12/2024 19:43

Under a duvet on the sofa with both DS’ watching the CBeebies panto whilst the kitten climbs up the Christmas tree 🎄

This like Paradise in winter 😅

Recovering from Granddaughter party aged 5 , drinking Rum and coke and watching Strictly!

GameOfJones · 07/12/2024 19:43

We braved the weather and the crowds and did some Christmas shopping in our local city. Came home tired and soaking wet so I had a bubble bath and got DDs a bath too. We've sat in our pyjamas and watched a Christmas film and I've had two glasses of prosecco. Now just about to do DDs bedtime, make a coffee and catch up on I'm a Celebrity. Happy days.

Polyp0 · 07/12/2024 19:44

Put up 2 trees and garlands. Now having a rest before adding baubles. Decorating cake

Sourisblanche · 07/12/2024 19:48

My dh is also away and older two at uni. Just watched Operation Mincemeat with dd, we both love WW2 history.

Now about to tuck into some chocolate ice cream we made earlier today. Need to go out with the dog for a brief wee walk soon, not looking forward to it!

mondaytosunday · 07/12/2024 19:49

I'm crocheting a throw for my sister, dog is snoozing on the sofa and not sure where the cats have got too. Waiting on a call from DD at uni as she needs help with her application for an internship next summer. If she has time we may watch a Christmas movie (she on her laptop, me on TV with phone on). She'll be home a week today!!
Son is done with work but haven't heard from him (he lives away). Need him to approve a design he wants to give to his boss for Xmas. The wind is still howling - glad I'm inside!

Ketchupmunchies · 07/12/2024 19:49

We have a power cut here which began about two and a half hours ago. Grumpy teens sitting around a candle lit table having to engage which I am quite enjoying.
Glad of my battery pack though - have just popped next door to call my DPs and taking the chance for a sneaky look at Mumsnet...

I love these threads!

I've had a chilled day, I've just quit working Saturdays after 25 years! The storm has forced me to stay home otherwise I would have visited our rather posh garden centre. I have however more or less finished and wrapped all gifts for family and friends. I'll most probably twitch before the 25th.... Watching corny Christmas movies and had a Fish n Chip supper with DD 18, older DS is out as is DH. Will more than likely head to bed early, just debating whether or not to bring in some decorations from outside?

The wind so bad I was think someone knock my door like crazy but was the wind 😂

pictoosh · 07/12/2024 20:10

Waiting for Chinese food while I don't attend the staff do this year. I usually go but I'm not in a noisy, crowded, drunken dancing frame of mind atm. I'm looking for calm, peace and no colleagues...as much as I do like them all.
I've spent the day gutting out the living room for Christmas, and will enjoy the evening with takeaway and the family as we watch the final two episodes of Mr. Robot.

MessyNeate · 07/12/2024 20:20

DH is away also. Just come off the PS5 with him though. It's nice we still get to do that together.

I was out last night so had a chilled day (also under a red warning) Both DS's are here. DS17 is gaming. DS14 is on video call to his girlfriend

I've just got into bed to watch tv, hoping to stay up for I'm a celeb but can already feel my eyes going which means I'll be up early tomorrow!

changedusernameforthis1 · 07/12/2024 20:22

Just put the youngest to bed, and once the eldest goes up we'll probably have a hot chocolate and watch another episode of the handmaid's tale before heading to bed ourselves.

We usually stay up later on weekends, but youngest has a trip to the cinema with her out of school club and we need to have her dropped off no later than 8.45am.

BeesPJs · 07/12/2024 20:22

Lying on the sofa watching crap on the telly and eating most of my chocolate advent calendar Grin I’m having a lazy and indulgent celebration as officially cancer free this week.

frozendaisy · 07/12/2024 20:24

Just got back after a lovely local evening, brisk walk into village via a pit stop for one at our usual local, up to restaurant, brisk walk home, both teens were super, small digestive relax then a movie.

CoastalCalm · 07/12/2024 20:24

Like others DH is out on his work do , I’m still on sofa rest with open wounds from hysterectomy and subsequent internal infection so me and the woof are watching tv and I’m trying to eat a far from ‘perfectly ripe’ peach from M&S , supper was a yellow sticker cheese and bean pastie found in the freezer - I did debate ordering Chinese but not really that hungry.
