These shoes were so popular in the 90s and early 00s, I can remember whole market stalls being was full of them! Some of the heels were absolutely enormous, like 6 inches plus 🤣 My best friend had the biggest ones available, how she didn’t break her neck I don’t know!

I still have my pair they look identical almost exactly (maybe a bit more Matt than shiny though) to the pair in the picture with the hand holding them.

they still fit and I still love them! I haven’t worn them in Years partly because I’m disabled now and can’t really wear heels now but they were the comfiest heels iv ever owned!

I remember them but I didn’t wear them I was conscious about my height I was 5”7 at 11!
i wore flat black Rockport height of fashion on 1993 🤣

I was too!Same height as you but I wore them anyway 😳

Ginkypig · 06/12/2024 21:55

I should say though that I had a job and bought them myself. I didn’t ask but I don’t think if I had picked them out either of my parents would have gotten them for me

All the cool kids had Kickers or Pods around here.

I was not allowed such things, Bootleg Clarks shoes it was until I left school as they are 'good for your feet'. Admittedly I have never experienced any foot problems at all so perhaps my parents were right

CleanShirt · 06/12/2024 22:03

Yep, had high heeled Kickers! My (army) dad bulled them to a shine one day, I was livid.

OohThatCat · 06/12/2024 22:04

Haha I had Kickers! What I love the most about this post is that fact that these niche, fugly shoes were THE shoe to be seen in all over the country in the 90s! Why?? Who made them fashionable??? I lived in a time before internet and social media 😂

I also had a pair of kickers! I loved them!! Coupled with my Kookai bag and Heather shimmer lipstick I WAS the dogs bollocks! 😂

And a few pumps of Dewberry or White Musk.

Shout magazine? Mizz? Smash Hits?

I assume teen mags have gone extinct.

Libertysparkle · 06/12/2024 22:16

I wasn't allowed to wear to school but did at weekend.
I had a friend that copied me alot. She got some and could not walk in them. It was like watching Bambi. I'm sure I didn't walk like supermodel but made me feel better for the constant copying.

CFbillsplitter · 06/12/2024 22:16

I was picturing the exact shoe as I clicked to open the thread.

TortillasAndSalsa · 06/12/2024 22:20

Ahh the good old romper stompers of my school days. I didnt have a pair though my poor coordination couldnt take walking in heels even back then. It's still bad so much so I wore trainers albeit designer ones on my wedding day 😂

leia24 · 06/12/2024 22:21

Yes in primary and they were absolutely hideous

CC222 · 06/12/2024 22:24

Yes 😂 I used to be crippled walking the 5 minute walk home (15 in these shoes) by the end of the day... Still can't handle heels 🤣

I was a wimp and I had ones like this:

These ring a bell!

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 06/12/2024 22:28

My school had a strict no heel higher than 2 inches rule, but I remember the shoes well, the odd girl would wear them and get put in isolation. Also worn (by girls) with very short skirts and a men's Ben Sherman shirt and Jean Paul Gaultier aftershave. There was a market stall called Linzi in Romford that used to sell them that later became a shop

Originally worn in the 70s they were the hight of fashion.

My older sister had a pair I used to walk around the house in them.

I remember the 70s platforms being much higher . One girl tethered on 8inch wedges we could only dream of

I had a black flap over kookai bag that was my absolute pride and joy (we were skint so it may well have been a knock off, but a good one!) and everyone in heather shimmer or coffee shimmer lipstick!

CissOff · 06/12/2024 22:32

Yes! Bonus points if you had a key ring with your Kickers and/or Pods tags attached

😯 you're right those shoes look familiar.

So were all the teenage boys very tall or the girls very small 😁

Mrburnshound · 06/12/2024 22:34

I think there may have been an army of us 😁

I also remember asymmetric skirts with a split on the longer side in an almost two tone slightly stiff material, going to club back to school nights in your actual school uniform, and drinking md2020 on the bus (child fare obvs) , then Metz, labatts ice, vodka source on a 241 when you got past the sleazy bouncers

LattewithAlmondCroissant · 06/12/2024 22:53

Yes, I had a pair of the Pod ones! They were so heavy to wear and gave me awful blisters on my heels!
