These shoes were so popular in the 90s and early 00s, I can remember whole market stalls being was full of them! Some of the heels were absolutely enormous, like 6 inches plus 🤣 My best friend had the biggest ones available, how she didn’t break her neck I don’t know!

Yes to the first pic OP. But I wore them first time round, in the 70's.

Haha! I had the second ones down. They are truly hideous but I thought I was the dog’s bollocks in them.

I also had a pair of kickers! I loved them!! Coupled with my Kookai bag and Heather shimmer lipstick I WAS the dogs bollocks! 😂

heymammy · 06/12/2024 20:34

Hahahahaha, I had Kickers too! Bloody ridiculous things they were...I'd get shin splints trying to walk fast for the bus to work 🤣

I remember those but they were a bit after my time. I left in ‘92 and we had Pods or Kickers.

MintTwirl · 06/12/2024 20:37

Yeo from Dolcis and I had some kickers ones too. I have no idea how I used to walk home (nearly 3 miles) in them every day.

The kookai bag! Yes! Oh those were the days

RunAwayTurnAwayRunAwayTurnAway · 06/12/2024 20:44

A similar Kickers style in around 1998/1999. Nowhere near as platformy though, they did have a chunky heel with decent grips.

They were very comfy and last for ages.

LigamentBandy · 06/12/2024 20:46

I had "clear sunglasses" from kookai (and a cool lighter!) because glasses make you look grown up! 😂😬😂

Qweept · 06/12/2024 20:46

We had to have flat shoes, so it was some kind of Velcro kicker that was the in shoe at my school, combined with a Jane Norman carrier bag instead of school bag was the ultimate cool girl thing at my school. I had neither 😭😂

RitaFromThePitCanteen · 06/12/2024 20:48

Yep, Kickers! I loved them. Still love clunky shoes, in fact.

Sugargliderwombat · 06/12/2024 20:49

Yep with my little miniskirt. Sourced from shoe zone.

stargazerlil · 06/12/2024 20:54

In the 1970’s with a tank top and a pair of Oxford bags and a long leather coat, listening to northern soul and Motown on vinyl.

Are they out of fashion now?

yes, now and the last 20 years.

39424everx · 06/12/2024 21:17

Yep I sure do remember them.
I was short, well I still am, but I loved how tall they made me feel.
Looking at them now they look kind of clunky but I loved mine at the time!

dutysuite · 06/12/2024 21:22

Sort of I wore platform palladiums - used to get into trouble for wearing them.

AntiHop · 06/12/2024 21:22

I had some like this from shellys in the 90s. Loved them! I wasn't allowed to wear them to school though.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 06/12/2024 21:24

A pair of those, stretchy black bootcut trousers, white fitted Ben Sherman shirt, and a skinny tie.
1999 was a good year.

Doggymummar · 06/12/2024 21:25

I was at work, I had ones from Dolcis I expect

DreadPirateRobots · 06/12/2024 21:25

Yes, I absolutely had the high-heeled Kickers. (I used to wear them down heavily on the outside because I over pronated badly in those days, and I'd poke a finger into the holes in those gigantic heels that were revealed.) And a Jane Norman carrier bag. In fact as I recall I bought something at Jane Norman purely to get the carrier bag. And a Heather Shimmer lipstick.

SassK · 06/12/2024 21:26

I remember wearing a similar style circa 1994 to go clubbing, chunky heel and sole but they were sandals 😂 I also had chunky high mules, in various shades of suede, and pointy toe/heeled mules 🙈

PogDogsMagicKennel · 06/12/2024 21:34

IncessantNameChanger · 06/12/2024 19:51

Yes and big zig zags in the soles which you couldn't get the dog poop out of of.

My Dad used to call them “Shitlingers” 😁😁

bugaboo218 · 06/12/2024 21:39

Yes!

I had the kickers (pic2) and also a brown/ tan pair of deck shoes, which were all the rage at my school!

wearing either my kickers or deck shoes unlaced and stuffed with socks to keep them on and to make the tongue look bigger, with my fruit of the loom navy sweatshirt ( instead of the logo school jumper), wrinkle down white or navy socks, my Jane Norman bag and a bit of hair dangling at the front on one side of my ponytail and my swatch pop watch I was the dogs bollocks !

IveGotToGoToMeDads · 06/12/2024 21:40

I had the kickers for school too. I was 12yrs old, circa 1998. Every one had these shoes. brought them from shelly's on market street in Manchester. Loved mine lasted the whole school year.

Typerighter · 06/12/2024 21:43

HÆLTHEPAIN · 06/12/2024 20:36

I remember those but they were a bit after my time. I left in ‘92 and we had Pods or Kickers.

Both fashionable in my school. A pair of brown kickers were seen as the top prize.

CandyCane457 · 06/12/2024 21:43

This has given me such nostalgia! I loved them!
