I'm ill and bored and in need of distraction.
Let's write a story full of tales of derring do and brave chivalry, or just a load of old twaddle 😄

And as I sat, and looked out the open window, I mused silently to myself as to whether I should close it, or not.

The cat had already decided that discretion was the better part of valour, favouring an armchair by the fire over a night on the prowl.

The only signs of life outside was the odd pair of headlights on passing vehicles.

And an odd rustling near the bins

All of a sudden there was a blinding flash of light

I think the rustling was a rampant troll squirrel - common in this part of the land.

I had waited so long for my beloved to return to me. I wondered if this could be the night

For if all the stars aligned and Orion was in Jupiter

I was haunted by my last memory of my beloved... the last time the Troll squirrel had ventured into my garden

Out of the dark, and into the black,

Well they told us Susannah had fallen into a crevasse - they even brought me her knapsack as a memento. Now I think about it though, there were odd marks - as thoygh it had been nibbled by something with very large teeth

A shiny Squirrel fell silent in the gloom, horrified by the casual mentions of Troll Squirrels. Who were these fearsome and decidedly unshiny creatures???

The lights got closer and it was … the postman. A clunk of the letterbox revealed a letter that jolted my very soul. I would recognise that handwriting anywhere, it was Susannah’s, a letter from beyond the grave …

Tentatively, I opened the seal...

The seal was most displeased with my attempt, squawking loudly and flopping back into the pool.

I cursed, wondering why I had such a pet. But remembering, a Seal Sanctuary was Susannahs dream.

I looked closer at the letter and it was then I saw the letter heading. It read Matterhorn Institute for the Criminally Insane.
