I need ideas for repurposing the yellow plastic inner from Kinder eggs

We have about a hundred of those yellow plastic capsules that you find inside Kinder eggs. I am keen to get rid of them. Before they get chucked into landfill however, can anyone inspire me with ways of repurposing them? Thank you!

Easter egg hunt? I stuck sweets in mine for Halloween and then stuck them in worms ( spaghetti) for kids to hunt through.

Maybe you could start smuggling drugs onto planes or into event venues as they're v popular for that purpose

Bananalanacake · 24/11/2024 14:21

I was once at a school Fasching party and they were used as eggs in an egg and spoon race. See if a school could use them.

Marblesbackagain · 24/11/2024 14:23

They go in general art supplies here. They then get to be many things.

Beat me to it! You could pass them on to a local drug dealer!

Thought that was condoms? Nobody wants half a Kinder Egg capsule stuck up their fanny.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 24/11/2024 14:33

Why did you keep them?

Sgtmajormummy · 24/11/2024 14:33

They’re too nice to throw away, I know!

Over the years I’ve used them to:
take condiments on self catering holidays
hold jewellery or pills on holiday
carry certain coins for the swimming pool hairdryer
separate safety pins or snaps etc. in my sewing box
same for pencil case to hold sharpenings (can’t get up during an exam)
put inside a cat toy with a few pebbles to make it rattle.

Nice?!

To be fair the pill holder idea is good but this thread is a different world to me.
Open, eat egg, make toy. Throw away rubbish

Charades!
Slip of paper inside saying who or what you have to act out.
All in a festive carrier and ready for Christmas game

Gosh, I'd often thought how neatly and uniformly shaped all those pellets were on those border security shows. Although aren't Kinder Eggs illegal in the States due to the choking hazard or is that an urban legend? I suppose that's the least of the courier's concerns mind you.

@seasonofmellowfruitfulness apologies for the derail. My first thought was a treasure hunt and my second was a container for travelling - earrings or cotton buds or the like. But if they're still that soft plastic that pops open easily then maybe no to the earrings. Or teeny tiny plants pots. Or stools for a dolls' house.

elQuintoConyo · 24/11/2024 15:39

If you put a marble in one, they become like a Weeble and wobble but don't fall down.

You can hide them round the house filled with sweets, then play hot/cold until they're all found.

You could get fabric scraps (felt, or what have you), and make a nativity set - the sheep would be cute! (Obviously if you've got little little kids, my 13yo wouldn't be too keen!)

I use the giant gold plastic balls from Ferrero Rocher as an alternative to wrapping paper, it can hold gloves, swimming trunks, earbuds etc.

LaPalmaLlama · 24/11/2024 15:42

You can put them in hard plastic recycling at the tip.

Frith2013 · 24/11/2024 15:45

Fishermen use them as floats.

dotdotdotdash · 24/11/2024 15:55

I know this is closing the stable door after the horse has bolted but I suggest you stop buying them and everyone on the thread boycotts them too. Write to Kinder returning them all with a letter asking them what they are doing about sustainability. Could they create biodegradable toys using corn starch or paper?

Very common to use them for that in County Lines. Sadly they often use teenaged girls as people won’t suspect them or want to search them.

The capsule is made of Polypropylene (plastic number 5) which is recyclable but not all areas recycle this.

I can't imagine keeping one, then another, then a hundred 😂😂😂 just throw them.

Would only work for really tiny Fishermen, though.

They are quite popular prison too.

When I was a child I used to put a marble inside them to make a 'jumping bean'. We hardly ever had them, though, so no idea what you'd do if you'd amassed loads of them.
