Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just about to take my tablets with the last of my first brew, then pop the kettle on to make a second. The kittens have been fed & gone back to sleep - boy at the top of the cat tree, girl on the chair next to mine, never on my knee 😥

Everyone else is still sleeping for now but they've asked me to wake them as I leave the house. I'm heading through town to Aldi to browse their festive offerings. I need to get some new work trainers on my way through town if Sports Direct have anything that takes my fancy.

Both girls need to tidy and hoover their bedrooms while I'm out, and make a start on their homework.

This afternoon, I'll pop a lights wash on & potter round, maybe finish the second end of my thread crochet church for my village.

Not sure what's for tea yet but it'll be followed by my Self Care Sunday scrubby everything shower. Then either more crochet, or tuck into my new book (festive novel I picked up yesterday in The Works - hopefully easy reading!).

Early nights all round, ready for school and college for us tomorrow 💤💤

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning @lucysmam.

Been awake for a couple of hours so have come down to lay on the sofa and read. DD is at her dad's, DH is fast asleep. Blowing a gale outside.

Think it will be a quiet Sunday. Need to catch up on washing, do some housework, do some baking... no idea what's for tea so we may have to venture out somewhere to find something! I'd be happy with cheese and crackers but to DH that's a snack, not a meal.

Can't believe there's only 4 weeks to Christmas and 3 to DDs birthday, so this will probably be my last slow Sunday until January! Better make the most of it!

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I'm a big fan of Aldi. My local one is five minutes walk away. I've had a bad night with various pains which I think are kidney related. I'll have to try for a doctor's appointment tomorrow. I've had two coffees and a slice of toast. I'm about to have a cuppa. I did most of the washes yesterday and just have whites to do. The snow from yesterday has disappeared so I'll visit mum in hospital later as long as there's no flooding. I'm also going to put mince in the slow cooker and have a plate with mashed potatoes and dumplings for dinner. Enjoy your day

Dirtydancing1 · 24/11/2024 09:11

Morning everyone
Just having second coffee in bed, then need to wake DC1 up as has a hospital appointment this morning.
DC2 still asleep and DH is making bacon sandwiches.
Will pop to supermarket when out to pick up a couple of bits.
We have an outdoor Christmas event we are meant to be going to with friends, tickets were booked a while ago.
Unsure if we will be going or not as there are already reports of trees down in our local area due to the strong winds.
The cats are sniffing the air as they can smell bacon cooking.
No roast today as unsure if going out later or not.
Everyone has requested meatball subs to eat, I may have the same or may have Camembert with crusty bread instead.
Need to iron all the school clothes and get school and work things sorted for the week

Giggorata · 24/11/2024 09:16

Good morning lucysmam and all.
Tea is happening (how did people manage before tea was brought to these islands? Somehow, small beer doesn't appeal…)

I am going to put up new curtains in a bedroom today; at least I'm going to do all the preparation and DH will hang them.
I need to do a second coat of paint on my wine boxes.
And, an unwelcome chore, I need to peel away yards and yards of sellotape and packing tape from various cardboard boxes before they can be recycled.

I ended up not driving myself to the coven last night, as they agreed with DH it was too early, and came to fetch me, the lovely lot.
No idea what else DH has planned for today, nor what dinner will be.
I might persuade him to drive me somewhere for a change of scene. Even Aldi would do.

Simonjt · 24/11/2024 09:22

Good morning, no storm Bert here but it is very rainy so the dog refused to go on his morning walkies, so instead he is moaning and going from door to door to check the weather.

The kids are both out for breakfast with my husband so I can put up our daughters new bed frame in peace. I have my final professional exam at work on Tuesday, so I’m going to do some more revision for that.

Have a nice sunday all

RainbowWife · 24/11/2024 09:25

Good morning Lucysmam and all! Thank goodness it's Sunday.

DW is out walking the dogs and I'm drinking coffee and MNing in bed.

I'm waiting in for delivery of my new fridge freezer today. Tracking says 1-5. So going to spend the day getting the type of jobs done you put off, like measure for a new blind. We're also going to get cracking on all the christmas wrapping, and maybe even get a few christmas bits out of the garage. Usually goes up Dec 1st, so next Sun, but I'm impatient.

We bought Caesar salads for lunch, which I now regret as it's freezing and doesn't feel like salad weather. We're making pizzas for tea though.

My friend had a baby and I made her a crochet blanket, so will wrap that up ready for posting tomorrow.

Mogloveseggs · 24/11/2024 09:28

Morning! A slow start as it was dd's engagement party last night although I have been up since 6.30 with the puppy. Sorted breakfast and a garden visit for him and the mogs and now we're on the sofa watching a random Christmas film while Dh and Ds are still asleep. Dh wants to start the Christmas shopping today (going to be fun in the rain) so hopefully he will take me out for lunch too. Can't face cooking as I made the buffet yesterday- never want to see another sandwich or sausage roll again!

ShipshapeShore · 24/11/2024 09:29

Finishing my tea then leaving for church, followed by Lidl. Visiting family for lunch. Housework mostly done for a change so I can settle down to watch Asia on time later! It soothes my soul 😁

ssd · 24/11/2024 09:33

Morning @lucysmam , and everyone else. I'm in bed desperate for my tea and toast. Its wet outside, the snow has gone.

What is a coven @Giggorata ??

Crunchymum · 24/11/2024 09:38

Morning all, happy Sunday.

It was so stormy here last night, the windows rattled all night long so I'm still waiting for a good night's sleep.

The poorly child seems loads better today although she won't go in tomorrow due to the 48h rule. DP taking the other 2 out for a bike ride but it's so windy they may downgrade it to a canal walk / hot chocolate somewhere.

I have shopping due soon then I'll be batch cooking (bolognese, chilli and beef stew) and I have some washing / ironing to get on with. Also have a pile of trashy magazines so I've told everyone I'm having an hour in bed later with tea, toast and magazine's!!

Probably have some of the stew for dinner, it feels like a stew kind of day. Then early night all round.

TomaytoTomaato · 24/11/2024 09:40

Been up since 5.45 to watch the Grand Prix with teen DS. Still chilling on the sofa and as it's very wet and windy outside it's going to be a lazy day at home, with the odd bit of housework thrown in as and when!
Put up our smaller Christmas tree in our snug yesterday - just felt the need for some sparkly fairy lights. Will decorate it later today whilst watching a Christmas movie.
DH making his yummy casserole for dinner.

Tcateh · 24/11/2024 09:42

Storm Bert Devon here.

Garden is trashed, I'm not going out there today.

Missing my mum who passed away on a Sunday at this time last year.

Big grief surge but it happens.

If it was dry I'd be off to the range or a garden centre. Love Christmas. X

SophiaRose91 · 24/11/2024 09:43

I am up, washed and dressed (after coffee and sudoko in bed). Need to go and collect ds from his dads and then do a food shop and put tree up later.

We are also meeting up with some family tonight for a meal so that will be nice, but im in the middle of painting kitchen worktops so kitchen js in living room and its annoying me and throwing me off 😂

Topsy44 · 24/11/2024 09:45

Having a cuppa with a chocolate chip brioche on the sofa. Woke up with a headache and have got a sore shoulder so tablets have been taken and hopefully will be feeling a bit brighter soon.

Thankfully, no plans for today apart from calling my Mum for a natter in a bit and getting usual school and work stuff resdy for tomorrow.

Will probably watch a film with DD this afternoon and do a roast for tea.

Nigellasrockyroad · 24/11/2024 09:48

Morning.
Take the dog out before it gets too wild, then drive to our local city and do a bit of Christmas shopping. DH never ever helps with Christmas, so I was surprised that he suggested it 🤔. Lunch out, so no need to cook this evening.

dontforgetme · 24/11/2024 09:48

Good morning @lucysmam and all!

It's absolutely pissing down so a day in the house today. All my Christmas decs are up so I'm not complaining about having a house day!

I'm currently on the sofa with a brew, doing some online Christmas shopping. Oh and ds on the PlayStation, dd at her dad's.

Steak for dinner tonight then usual Sunday evening baths and school/work sorting.

mamaduckbone · 24/11/2024 09:49

Morning @lucysmam and all.
I've just got up but I've been awake for ages drinking coffee and browsing holidays in bed.
It's wild and windy here so ds2's rugby match has been cancelled thank goodness, but he was already up and dressed so has gone to the gym instead.
The plan for today is to cook Sunday lunch, light the fire and watch the rest of the film we started last night with ds1 and his gf before he heads back to uni this evening.

TheCanterburyWails · 24/11/2024 09:57

Morning all!

I had a dreadful sleep (managed about 4 hours) and am still in bed with a mild sense of dread hanging over me. Have tons of laundry to do today and no washing machine, so will be shlepping bags to the launderette. Made a fish pie yesterday for tea so we'll be having that for dinner, so that's one thing off the to-do list.

RabbitsRock · 24/11/2024 10:04

Good morning @lucysmam & the Sunday gang. On our way to the city for Christmas shopping - not much to get as I’m using charity catalogues for quite a few pressies but DD15 keeps adding to the list! Also need to buy DH’s belated birthday present (possibly a watch). DD wants Five Guys for lunch. We’ll have KFC tonight.

Iamnotaloggrip · 24/11/2024 10:05

Morning all. I too have been awake since 5.45 watching the Grand Prix with DS. I’m not a fan but he didn’t want to get up on his own 🙄. He did let me get a casserole in the slow cooker though so that’s one job done.

Been to Junior park run and now at DD’s class. If the rain clears as it’s supposed to we’ll get out for a walk this afternoon.

Have a lovely day everyone.

TribulationPeriwinkle · 24/11/2024 10:08

Morning, @lucysmam and everyone.

Wet and windy here in London, and I’m curled up on the sofa with a big bowl of porridge.
DP’s taken DD to her Sunday club and we’ve just had a new chair-bed thingy delivered by Argos, so we’ll unbox it and work out where it fits best when he gets back.
First load of washing has just finished - two more to go.
Lunch will involve sausages, roast potatoes and veg. Need to check whether we have enough eggs to make YPs as well…
I don’t plan to go out at all if I can avoid it! Didn’t manage to look at DD’s EHCP paperwork last night, so that’s hanging over me.

Glad you got a lift to your coven, @Giggorata - they sound like a great bunch of witches 😄.
Have a lovely Sunday, all!

frozendaisy · 24/11/2024 10:13

Our local event has been cancelled, understandably, so erm......drinking coffee reading s bit of a novel, will make beef roast later, play some board games, homework, dinner.

Is 12pm and I'm not even dressed. Bliss ! DC still sleeping, I'm on my 3rd coffee. Need to tidy the house a little and get washing on. I've purposely not engaged in/agreed to/accepted/suggested anything social today because I just want a day at home. Think a friend of mine is a bit miffed that I've not engaged in any plans-for-today type chat or suggested meeting up, which I think my friend was hoping to do.
Now going for my 4th coffee with my fancy new coffee machine. Happy Sunday !

Whattheduck · 24/11/2024 12:07

Morning all
Didn’t have the best nights sleep Dd is away at uni and worked last night was due to finish at 2am but didn’t finish until 3.15am then drove back here which is a 90 minute trip as she is going away for a couple of nights today with her boyfriend so it was nearly 5am before she got home
I managed to nod off once she was home but woke at 8.00 and got up had my weekend almond croissant treat and a coffee
Dd surfaced about 10.30 just about to take them to the train station
Dh is going to watch a friends band at a local venue this afternoon
The weather here is awful so no plans for later other than cooking dinner we are having steak and ale pie roast potatoes carrots and broccoli
Going to do some online Christmas shopping and watch tv (may have an afternoon nap)
Have a good day everyone
