I'm just about to take my tablets with the last of my first brew, then pop the kettle on to make a second. The kittens have been fed & gone back to sleep - boy at the top of the cat tree, girl on the chair next to mine, never on my knee 😥

Everyone else is still sleeping for now but they've asked me to wake them as I leave the house. I'm heading through town to Aldi to browse their festive offerings. I need to get some new work trainers on my way through town if Sports Direct have anything that takes my fancy.

Both girls need to tidy and hoover their bedrooms while I'm out, and make a start on their homework.

This afternoon, I'll pop a lights wash on & potter round, maybe finish the second end of my thread crochet church for my village.

Not sure what's for tea yet but it'll be followed by my Self Care Sunday scrubby everything shower. Then either more crochet, or tuck into my new book (festive novel I picked up yesterday in The Works - hopefully easy reading!).

Early nights all round, ready for school and college for us tomorrow 💤💤

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning/afternoon all,

I'm on a plane for a work trip (thank god for inflight WiFi, it's always a bit spotty on this route!) - not sure how the flight took off with the storm as it was but the pilot did a good job and there was minimal turbulence which I'm very grateful for!

Our garden is also trashed from what I saw at 6 this morning - it will have to wait now til I'm back.

Still 4 hours left to go in air - will alternate between MN scrolling and updating my budget for 2025. Need to also pay some bills and sort out the Tesco order for next weekend, and update the one for the Christmas shop! Love a good grocery order - will have a look to see what new products are floating around too 😏

Will take a bus when I land - anyone else love public transport in different cities? And find my hotel/check in/FaceTime DS before going for a good mooch and exploring the area. Not sure what I'll want for dinner yet 😋

I'm getting organized for Thanksgiving. My brother and sister-in-law are hosting, but I'm bringing sides and pies. So I'm off to church in a bit and then stopping at the supermarket for the last few things.

My daughter and son-in-law are flying in on Wednesday to spend the holiday with us, so I need to change the sheets in her room and do a bit of tidying.

MillyMichaelson · 24/11/2024 12:22

Just watched the Grand Prix under two blankets with two coffees 😁

Now off to take my teenage daughter into town as she pierced her own nose and now needs a proper nose stud and not an earring she's rammed through there... 🙄

I love this kind of thread. So homely ❤️

Today, we woke up had breakfast croissant eggs beans and bacon.

Showered, new pjs on.

Toddler did some painting (separated from ExH), baked cupcakes , we are now eating the cupcakes.

I will then cook soup (West Indian with chicken soup)

DS 2 will nap then we will put the Christmas tree up later

Afternoon all!

We're having a lazy one here. It's been a very busy few weekends, so today we've been up and out with the dogs, tended the horses, and now we're back for a big late lunch. Kids had breakfast but we didn't bother, so we're having duck eggs on toast, fried tomatoes and mushrooms, homemade veggie sausages, and lots of tea!

DH is sorting dinner tonight, and he's got a surprise so it should be something fancy. I think we're just going to relax this afternoon. Next weekend is the putting up the Christmas decorations and then it's jumping into festivities, so just a day of reading and playing with the kids here. DS and DD want to put on a "play" so we might set up a little backdrop (of a sheet and kitchen utensils 🤣) later. Let them do a bit of crafting too maybe!

Hope everyone else is having a lovely day!

@GiddyRobin lazy! You put me to shame...mind you I remember how busy it could be with young kids.
All I've done today is deal with the cars and dog, and make my scrumptious squash soup (not so scrumptious as last time as using regular butternut squash instead of golden butternut which I can only find at Waitrose).
I haven't even emptied the dishwasher! Since my DD left for uni my schedule is up the spout (but she'll be home in three weeks - yay)!
Plan is to work on (and try to finish but doubtful) the crochet throw I'm making for my sister for Christmas. I have a few other projects lined up that need to get done before Dec 25. So really need to get some YouTube on and get cracking.
Later for dinner possibly butter chicken on naan bread with salad.
Wind is still howling - at least it has blown all the fallen leaves up against the fence so easier for my son to deal with when he comes to visit next week.

Honestly, it took about half an hour's worth of me and DH nudging each other and pointing at the bedroom door to even get up and put coffee on today. 🤣 And sod cleaning! There's muddy pawprints in the hall, the rabbit has dragged straw everywhere, and it's going to have to stay like that haha!

Awww I bet you can't wait for your DD to come home! Have you got any nice plans? (Also v. intrigued by your squash soup, I don't think I've had golden butternut squash so now I'm going to have to find one 😁)

Hope you have a lovely day of crochet! Stormy days and a nice bit of crafting are the bees knees!

Mostly a quiet day at home after a busy one of Christmas shopping and Christmas markets y'day.
I got up early and took the dog for a good walk, throwing sticks for her while I listened to music on my headphones. Got home, put the cofffee maker on and had coffee in bed with my husband and the dog. Normally our DS jumps on the bed too on a Sunday morning but he's just been allowed to download Fortnite so he was straight on that when he woke up 😄. Starting to grow out of morning hugs with his parents now!
Had an easy breakfast of cereal and toast, then after showering we caught up with Strictly.
Once that was done, started to make lasagna for tea and I'm also pushing the boat out by making a tray of tear and share garlic bread. Currently laying on the bed on my phone while waiting for the dough to prove and the meat sauce to cook, then I'll crack on with the bechemel sauce and assembly of the lasagne.
Then I'll help my son with his handwriting exercises (for his age, 10, it's really terrible and he has physio exercises to do to support his work at school on this) and get him to finish his homework. Eat dinner, DH and DS can wash up and tidy up kitchen as I've cooked, then get DS to write Christmas list for the grandparents before shower and bed time for him. Not sure what we'll do this evening, probably just watch TV and eat some chocolate before bed.

gingercat02 · 24/11/2024 15:33

Waaaay past morning, but hello @lucysmam and all.

DS woke me up early watching F1 and clattering around in the shower, but it was useful as it gave me time to watch Strictly before my class.

Washing on and an early lunch while DH and I caught up on the race.

The hands free on my car isn't working for incoming calls, so I'm waiting for DH to come to help me troubleshoot that.

The second load of washing is on, and the whole display is flashing, so that's probably knackered, too!

Not really the chilled Sunday I was hoping for.

Purplegreenredblue · 24/11/2024 15:34

trying to work out fitting in Xmas activities in the run up.

Eggsley · 24/11/2024 18:28

Evening all, hope your days have all gone as planned.

Football was called off here so I had a lovely long lie in and didn't get up til 12. Fabulous. Popped out to Tesco and to visit my parents and then came back and did fajitas for dinner. We are having a family games night this evening and then an early ish night for me as next week at work is going to be a stressful one. DSs have gamed, done homework and watched tv so it's been a lovely chilled out one here.

DilemmaDelilah · 24/11/2024 19:37

I've left it very late today! I had my usual breakfast in bed, then I came downstairs and made some of the Lego bouquet I got for my birthday, while DH popped to Sainsbury's for a couple of things. As usual he came back with a load of things that weren't on the list, including some rather nice yellow-stickered bagels that we had toasted for lunch.

We watched a really bad (not even good enough to be cheesy) Christmas film this afternoon and otherwise did very little at all. I had thought we needed to pick up chorister grandson after evensong today but I had got the dates wrong, so we didn't even need to do that.

I'm going to have a lovely relaxing bath in a little while, in the hope that it will help me sleep. I've had two nights in a row where I have been awake for about 3 hours in the middle, so a nice bath (and half a cetirizine hayfever tablet) should help me sleep tonight.

GiddyRobin · 24/11/2024 22:00

DH made tapas for tea! He got langoustines and did them in their shells with spices, made Patatas Bravas, a veg tortilla, battered sprats, then dips and breads and other bits. It was amazing and I am stuffed.

Kids are now in bed, we've had a bath and he's tuning his violin, then we're going to just sit and chat I think. Can't be bothered with a film and I've got the big downstairs blankets out so might have a cuddle, listen to music, and plan this next week seeing as we're both off work. We need to book the Christmas tree, book flights to Norway and the tree over there... 🥴 I love it but sometimes we forget stuff because we have to do it twice. Maybe start packing early this year too.

And I keep bloody saying I'll learn Norwegian. 10 years in, two fluent kids, 2 years to go before we move...I can ask for a beer. And I can't even drink bloody beer! 😂 I cannot be taught by DH though, I zone out so I might get on Duilingo this week so I can remind myself in time for Christmas.
