Anyone else can't sleep because of the storm? SW London and I've been up for hours, every window is rattling!!

Marmiteontoastgirlie · 24/11/2024 04:25

Yes it’s wonderfully dramatic! I woke up 2 hours ago.

tobee · 24/11/2024 04:56

I'm SW London. It's pretty quiet here right now. It revved up a bit about an hour ago but quietened down.

I hate the rain. We have had quite a bit of no rain for a while there. It's just reminded me of all that rain earlier in the year that went on all day and all night. Claustrophobic!

Spoke too soon. Can hear the wind a wee bit again now

urbanbuddha · 24/11/2024 05:06

Yep, it’s blowing forcefully here. I hope it’s just the wind causing the weird sounds from the downstairs flat. The neighbours are away atm.

Devilsmommy · 24/11/2024 05:17

Very windy in the west midlands. I'm listening to it whistling and can hear something blowing around outside. Possibly my toddlers slide😳

Artistbythewater · 24/11/2024 05:42

Yes south west and it is so stormy. 60/70 mph I am guessing.

MineMineMineMineMine · 24/11/2024 05:43

Yep. Wokeup an hour ago and can't go back to sleep it's so noisy!

BatshitCrazyWoman · 24/11/2024 05:47

Yes, very windy here (south east London/Kent border). I love the sound of it when I'm tucked up in bed.

CaptainRedbeardandbigbadbarry · 24/11/2024 05:50

It’s pissing me off to be honest. The aerial
on the chimney has not stopped making noises all night ( think it’s loose anyway) and it is driving me nuts. I think I’ve had two hours sleep all night.

CeeJay81 · 24/11/2024 06:00

Wales here and although windy. The rain is what woke me up! It was like a shower on full blast! Bound to be travel problems today. Glad I'm not going anywhere!

Sunnyside4 · 24/11/2024 06:09

Gloucestershire here. I've been lying here for ages listening to the roof rattle.

Have to get up soon for work, really hoping the main road has a couple of dips and really hope it isn't too badly flooded.

crumblingschools · 24/11/2024 06:11

Think some tiles have just come off our roof!

OldTinHat · 24/11/2024 06:29

We had it all yesterday (in the south) although we still have a weather warning. I could barely catch my breath when I took the dog out, the wind was so strong.

I can hear it blowing still, but nothing dramatic.

ScottBakula · 24/11/2024 06:57

It's raining heavily off and on here and a bit windy but nothing out of the normal, but it's surprising warm !
North west England

winterisslumming · 24/11/2024 06:57

South coast here, I start my shift at 8am and I'm not convinced I'll get out of my village, apparently trees and telegraph poles down. Only one road in and out. Wish me luck!

Preppingdonkey · 24/11/2024 06:58

SW London here too but it’s just a bit gusty & seems to have calmed down.

HelpMeGetThrough · 24/11/2024 07:02

Cornwall and it's been really bad for 24 hours now. Fence on our side garden has come down, so waiting to go out and see just how bad it is.

Will be a new fence for sure. I'm not going to be able to do much with it, as I've just had major surgery, so hoping it won't take much to secure it.

Could bloody well do without it.

showersandflowers · 24/11/2024 07:13

We're in a townhouse on the top floor and it feels like we're in the eye of the storm. Even now it sounds like it's trying to pull the roof off. Not much longer now...

PonkyPonky · 24/11/2024 07:14

DS decided at 5am that he’s now inexplicably terrified of wind and doesn’t want to be alone. I keep telling him there’s nothing to be scared of but secretly I’m thinking “the roof is definitely going to come off in a minute”!

TiramisuThief · 24/11/2024 07:17

East Devon here

The wind has kept me awake most of the night even with earplugs.

I was supposed to be doing a race this morning along the coast. To nobody's surprise it was cancelled at 6:30am!

In bed with a tea currently. It's so noisy!!!

Sunnyside4 · 24/11/2024 07:32

I'm sat in car waiting for work to open up, Luckily I didn't have to resort to the tree lined roads.

We've lost our house number, but that's nothing major. Local pub have lost their marquee, half of it's in the road, couldn't see the rest.

harriethoyle · 24/11/2024 07:34

We’re in West Yorkshire and I’m frightened to get out of bed! Flooded in three ways and DDog will have to stay on a lead today in case he blows away…

PreBlendOils · 24/11/2024 07:40

Still huge winds here in the South West. My front fence has blown down on one side. My trampoline is anchored in the back garden but it still looked like it was going to lift off. I went out to remove the safety net and another trampoline went hurtling past me! I think it's my neighbours 2 doors down as it's a repeat offender.

HelpMeGetThrough · 24/11/2024 07:58

@PreBlendOils so if we put our bits of knackered fence together, we may just get one fence out of it.

We've lost a 6ft section in ours.

LoafofSellotape · 24/11/2024 09:46

Still so windy the the bed is shaking !!! Just woken up after being up most of the night. Sunny here but the wind is something else!

I live in the shadow of a new housing development - it’s still being built - and the main tower is covered in tarps. They’ve been whipping and flapping away all night. So loud! But I’ve loved lying in bed listening to it.
