I live in a town on the coast of the West of Scotland well known for being really windy on a regular basis.
However, I still get really nervous when the winds are especially high as they were last night and still are ATM - Just been out to pick up quite substantial planters that have blown over in the garden.
There is something really quite frightening lying awake listening to all the creaks and rattling and things blowing about in the street. Always thankful when things die down and my roof hasn't actually blown off because at times it sounds as though it's going to.

Just walked to the tube, and weirdly the wind is really warm. Felt totally disconcerting.

I wish I could be one of those people who lie in bed in a snug dry house, listening to the wind whipping around the house and feeling cosy. But in fact when I came up to bed I discovered that the damp plaster at the top of our bedroom wall was now running a drip and there must have been a partially dislodged tile up there (hence the dampness) that has now been blown totally off and we now have a bloody leak.

Frankly this house is a nightmare, you fix one thing and something else pops off. I've learned to fear winter storms. I have no idea what to fix next and it's all going to cost ££££s. Which we don't have. Sad
