What colour is your bedroom?

Yayforyou · 23/11/2024 09:08

Need inspiration please.
seems like blue or green in every room of my house, but I have no vision.
Total blank canvas, SW facing. Any budding interior designers want to hit me with ideas?

We have a neutral parchment colour, but I have a lot of pictures and a fabric rug wallhanging up, so the wall colour doesn't have much of an impact.

DustyLee123 · 23/11/2024 09:30

My walls are cream so I can change the colour with accessories. I find new curtains or duvet much easier than painting.

GrouchyKiwi · 23/11/2024 09:34

Ours is a deep, gorgeous teal (Teal Tension), so a good mix of your blues and greens. Grin It makes me happy every time I go in there, and I painted it more than a year ago.

In our previous house our bedroom was painted in Natural Hessian, and I loved that too. It's a warm and cosy colour and goes surprisingly well with lots of cheerful colours, so we had maximalist floral bedding with it.

Deep aubergine kind of purple. Walls and ceiling!! Absolutely gorgeous. Cosy, warm feeling, sumptuous, sexy if that's your thing. Beautiful patterned pink/old/blue/green rug, dark furniture. Bloody adore my bedroom!

RobinEllacotStrike · 23/11/2024 10:39

F&B Peignoir.

It's a pinky lilac mushroom colour. Changes a lot depending on the light. It's a mid tone so neither bright or dark. Not a neutral but not a big statement either.

It's perfect for a bedroom & I love it.

Beebumble2 · 23/11/2024 10:41

I’m another one for neutral cream. I like to accessorise with shades of blue.

Oh sounds lovely! Got a photo? I need inspiration. Have had black flock wallpaper before so live a dark bedroom.

Coral with turquoise woodwork (door, door frame and skirting boards), won’t keep it like this forever but like the Mama Mia vibe for now. We are similar in that everywhere else in our house is versions of dark blue or green, so the bedroom has ended up coral and the kitchen pink. I love the sound of aubergine but would also like Ochre when we are ready for something a bit more grown up.

cindertoffeeapple · 23/11/2024 11:36

Ours is a lovely teal colour - it’s Valspar Quiet Rain.

Amarige · 23/11/2024 11:36

Slaked lime from Little Greene.

RancidRuby · 23/11/2024 11:39

A very pale soft peach accessorised with dark blue and burnt orange colours.

@RancidRuby what a lovely looking room

JaninaDuszejko · 23/11/2024 11:52

@RancidRuby gorgeous. Where is your bedside table from?

My old bedroom was F&B Elephant's Breath. This one is going to be LG Bone China Blue - Pale.

minipie · 23/11/2024 11:55

Ours is a pale bluey greeny grey. Polished Cement by Designers Guild. In a darker or N facing room it would just look grey but in our SE light bedroom it has lots of subtle undertones.

In a SW facing room you can go with quite cool or neutral colours as the light will bring a lot of warmth and character to them. Avoid anything too peachy as it can look a bit sickly in SW light. Basically everything will look warmer in your room.

Do you want your bedroom to feel calm, or vibrant? Cocooning, or spacious? Are you in it in daytime much, or only in morning and evening? Do you want to be able to change the look easily?

BadPeopleFan · 23/11/2024 11:57

At the moment it is three cream walls with a mustard 'feature' wall. We have only been here 3 months though so it is very much the previous owners taste.
I don't mind it tbh, it is warm and cosy looking even at this drab time of year, it seems bright and cheerful in sunnier weather.
I think I have just convinced myself to go with the mustard when I redecorate😆

It's just an old Ikea one that I painted, was dark wood effect originally.

JaninaDuszejko · 23/11/2024 12:13

Wow, that's very effective, looks very classy.

LegoHouse274 · 23/11/2024 12:15

Ours is blue so no help!

Jemimapuddleduk · 23/11/2024 12:15

A gorgeous chalky grey/purple colour, love it! Cream fitted units and a blue and gold headboard.

Jemimapuddleduk · 23/11/2024 12:18

These are the colours, the white/blue is our curtains and the deep blue velvet the headboard.

What colour is your bedroom?
Jemimapuddleduk · 23/11/2024 12:19

The paint is Sanderson nightshade.

Normallynumb · 23/11/2024 15:28

Mellow Mocha by Dulux
My bedroom is tiny and needs something light and neutral
Your choices sound lovely

Yayforyou · 23/11/2024 18:17

Thanks for the inspiration so far.

Im thinking of something calming but quite light this time. @DustyLee123 Maybe neutral with accessories is the way to go. Although I had looked at Peignoir @RobinEllacotStrike & like the look of Sanderson nightshade @Jemimapuddleduk

we have had elephant’s breath in our previous house & teal in the one before that.

Thanks for the advice re. Peach @minipie I’d just read that it was an ‘in’ colour but was a bit reticent. We’re not really in lots in the daytime. Just want it to feel clean, yet warm if that makes any sense!

Ours is Benjamin Moore Fox Hollow Brown.

A kind of terracotta colour.
