Please post calm thoughts and little wins to keep me from obsessing over the news from the USA. What simple positive things are happening in your life today?

I had a message from my son’s ex girlfriend earlier, they split up after six years, so I replied and lovely messages have been pinging back and forwards ever since. It’s been so good to catch up with her, I very much miss having her as part of our family.

This is so heartwarming to hear because it's going to be my last pregnancy as it's been bittersweet knowing it's my last first movement etc. The end of an era... What an era pregnancy and new to motherhood is.

Oh it's gorgeous, I remember lying in bed the night I went into labour with my last, and she was kicking like anything! I knew it was my last and in one of those little minutes of calm before it all went mad, just feeling her and knowing this was it. Make the most of every little movement. I couldn't have another, it would be too much, but some days I sit and hark back to it. Absolutely beautiful.

I hope it all goes beautifully! I bet she's going to be gorgeous. 🥰

Thank you so much. There's nothing like that moment of clarity of "This is it - it's time for them to arrive" when you know life is about to change and never be the same again before you become a mum - or a mum again. It's funny how you get amnesia with so much of labour and the newborn days (eg just how horrendous cluster feeding is!) yet that part stays clear as anything.

I've just binged all four episodes of Until I Kill You (superb - on ITVx) to stop thinking about it.

I'm going to stop reading the news for some time as well.

I treated myself to a new mop and some great smelling Spanish floor cleaned! Just cleaned the kitchen floor. Lots of really shit stuff going on so really taking in this small joy!

My dog has been seriously ill, with a recurring painful condition, which is life limiting. She has been really miserable and has lost all her sparkle. However, today, the medication kicked in and she wagged her tail a little bit and showed some interest in life again. I drove her to a meadow, where dogs are permitted and carried her from the car. It was wonderful to see her pottering along, on her wobbly legs, taking an interest in all the smells and scents left by other dogs & wildlife.

I love this thread!

We've got (finally positive for Covid) a long, long lingering flu that's been going on for over two weeks.

Today we did sod all, but tonight we felt bad and took the kids on a walk to see bats. There's loads out around here in the field, so we had our tea as a picnic and watched them swooping and sweeping. Kids were so happy.

Snuggled up once they went to bed and DH put on some Norwegian film I've never seen. It was really good, and we ate cheese in bed while he gave me a back massage.
