Gym Leggings/bottoms for tree trunk legs!

MiddleClassProblem · 30/10/2024 20:45

Hi guys,

Can anyone recommend gym bottoms for thick legs (all the way down), full bum in all directions but a smaller waist?

My problems with fit tend to be:
Too tight around the calves/ ankle and then hard to hoike up.

Gapping at the top between curve of butt cheek and top of thigh (also curved)

Smaller waist means they are inevitably bigger legged and waisted so slip down when exercising.

Ideally not to expensive. Some seem to be extortionate prices!

Please help and save my fat bum and chubby legs!

I wouldn't recommend sweaty betty. They haven't worked for my thighs at all. The waist isn't high enough either, I spend every class hoiking them up.
A smaller size wouldn't go up my legs.

Thank you so much! This is so useful. I’d really like to avoid the continually sending stuff back and ordering to find the size and discover there is no right size!

Any plus size peeps tried fabletics or gym shark? Fabletics price seems high…

Lucy Lockets were good, but there's a whole thing with the company now. However, there are FB groups selling pre-owned. M&S Goodmove are ok too, some have drawstring waists so that might help you. I have just bought some Sturdy by Design, which also come with drawstring waist, but I haven't worn them yet. Might give them a whirl tomorrow.

Have a look and see if Snag still do legging as they size by height and size rather than standard and their tights are brilliant for all shapes and sizes

usernother · 31/10/2024 17:07

Lululemon are great. Lovely and stretchy in all directions. I never have to pull them up.

MiddleClassProblem · 31/10/2024 17:17

Thank you so much guys! I’ll have a look at these.

Try matalan. I have lots of their capri length leggings but they do full length too

MysticFelineScream · 31/10/2024 17:39

I second Matalan, really reasonably priced and some even have the pockets on the legs

grumpypedestrian · 31/10/2024 17:58

I love Gymshark. I buy the high waisted ones but they’re designed for women who lift heavy so work really well for what you’re after.

Isitfridayyetsophie · 31/10/2024 18:01

I love lulu lemon and adanola, both very stretchy. In particular like the lulu lemon aligns- I wore them throughout my whole pregnancy and they stretched with me and back.

MiddleClassProblem · 31/10/2024 18:10

Lulu lemon might be a bit pricy for me now! 😬

@dementedpixie @MysticFelineScream Is there a particular brand or is it their own? I don’t really shop there as I’ve not got one near me (even though I mostly shop online…)

I agree they are expensive but I bought mine in the sale and I've worn them so often, not just for the gym, they have definitely been worth it.

violetsunrise · 31/10/2024 18:17

Wouldn’t recommend Gymshark at all. My daughter has had 2 pair of leggings and each pair I’ve had to stitch along the seam while still relatively new. No outings to the gym either, they were worn just for leisure.

Rowgtfc72 · 31/10/2024 18:19

I get tesco active range. They do a couple of different styles. I prefer three quarter ones but do own a pair of full length. No problem with fit.

Upwiththelark76 · 31/10/2024 18:23

Fabletics powerhold . Look on their site and you can see what the leggings look like on different body sizes .I am thick of leg but smaller waisted and the powerholds have been an excellent fit . EBay / Vinted to avoid signing up to the fabletics subscription though if you do you just have to remember to skip the month to avoid being charged

grumpypedestrian · 31/10/2024 18:23

That’s a shame about those Gymshark. I wear mine regularly for weight lifting and have had no issues with mine, really comfy.

Did they just split? Which seam was it? I’m just evaluating the risk on a back squat 😳

violetsunrise · 31/10/2024 18:32

@MiddleClassProblem yes just split. One was inside leg on the thigh area and the other the crotch area. She’s very slim legs (unlike myself!) and they were relatively new so wasn’t due to wear and tear.

violetsunrise · 31/10/2024 18:34

@grumpypedestrian she was happy to keep wearing them after I stitched them. They are very nice on I have to say.

@unsync what’s the issue with Lucy Locket? I have a couple pairs of their leggings which are old and need replacing!

Isitfridayyetsophie · 31/10/2024 18:49

Fair enough if it’s too much, I’ve had mine for over 4 years and they’re still like new so I’m looking at it cost per wear to justify it to myself!!!

I only have one pair of gym sharks but they’re not squat proof so I don’t wear them in public and wouldn’t buy again

Do Aligns pile along the crotch? Some sold on Vinted are affected like this but my daughter swears by her pairs

I've just had a look (I'm wearing them now) and no, not on mine.
