Gym Leggings/bottoms for tree trunk legs!

MiddleClassProblem · 30/10/2024 20:45

Hi guys,

Can anyone recommend gym bottoms for thick legs (all the way down), full bum in all directions but a smaller waist?

My problems with fit tend to be:
Too tight around the calves/ ankle and then hard to hoike up.

Gapping at the top between curve of butt cheek and top of thigh (also curved)

Smaller waist means they are inevitably bigger legged and waisted so slip down when exercising.

Ideally not to expensive. Some seem to be extortionate prices!

Please help and save my fat bum and chubby legs!

Do you have an issue if there is a tie at the waist? Running leggings tend to have a tie at the waist. Have you tried Nike or Addidas?

dementedpixie · 31/10/2024 19:23

@MiddleClassProblem it's Matalan's own brand Souluxe. I have leggings, tops and sports socks from their range

ItsTheGAGGGGGGGG · 31/10/2024 19:24

I wear H&Ms brand and they’re so good! Very stretchy and really comfortable

I love tikiboo leggings, they actually have 30% off today for Halloween. I have at least a dozen pairs prob more as well as sports bra, t-shirts and hoodies. They comfortable, flattering, squat proof and stay put. I had L when I was 14-16, I'm around a 12 now so go for M but my bigger ones still fit I just pull the drawstring in. Most designs you can chose with or without side pockets and the length.

The person asking about Lucy locket, the company went out of business earlier this year and she has re-started it again under a new name, I think locket loves. It doesn't quite sit right with me that the company closed likely owing money and just restarted again with a new name.

Ties and drawstrings can be a bit uncomfortable when squatting tbh. I would prefer some that just have elasticated waist but not a wide elasticated waste as many seem to when you need a bigger size!

Fair enough if it’s too much, I’ve had mine for over 4 years and they’re still like new so I’m looking at it cost per wear to justify it to myself!!!

I only have one pair of gym sharks but they’re not squat proof so I don’t wear them in public and wouldn’t buy again

Can I ask if you are plus size and if so have worn on the inner thigh at all? I find that can be where it get thin over time or bobbly in other trousers.

OP I have this exact shape and my favourite leggings are cheapies from amazon. They are iuga brand.

RenoDakota · 31/10/2024 19:36

Unlike a pp, I would recommend Sweaty Betty. Very giving (and forgiving) and really good quality, although I only ever buy them in a sale.
Also like M&S own brand - Goodmove.

minipie · 31/10/2024 19:36

PS I am not plus size but very much pear shaped, my inner thighs rub together and the leggings have not rubbed or bobbled there. Multiple wears and washes.

DecafDodger · 31/10/2024 19:37

Why not bootleg/flare leggings instead of tight ones? I have strong calves, not only are they more comfortable, they are also more flattering.

Definitely open to them but some works out I do have my legs up and I think they will slip and I don’t want to shave my legs 😂 Maybe I need long socks 🤣

Not the cheapest or prettiest but brilliant, great quality, last for years.

YourGreenZebra · 31/10/2024 18:37

@unsync what’s the issue with Lucy Locket? I have a couple pairs of their leggings which are old and need replacing!

A lot of people are upset that the owners did a phoenix on the company. They placed the old company into administration, bought the assets and restarted. They owed money, there were outstanding orders which went unfulfilled and the staff were laid off.

So there's nothing wrong with the product, but there's a group of people who are vociferous about the owners' ethics, albeit what they did is legal if you have a limited company. If you poke around the net / FB, you'll come across it.

MiddleClassProblem · 31/10/2024 20:28

These don’t do my size unfortunately

OP posts:
soupmaker · 31/10/2024 20:31

I have two pairs of leggings for H&M. They've both been on the go for at least 2 years. Very high waisted which is what I need and thick. Also wear M&S goodmove leggings, like the drawstring on them.

Ineedanewsofa · 31/10/2024 20:40

Adanola - I wear mine for gym and leisure, they have a decent amount of compression and no bobbling yet after many washes and many wears. The only issue is that the size/washing instructions have peeled off so I don’t what size I bought!

BogRollBOGOF · 31/10/2024 20:56

Mine are mainly Decathlon and Tikiboo. I'm a size 10 pear, curvy muscular legs and smallish waist. Some leggings will try and gather at the thin point on my knee which is annoying.

I found the pattern on my Lucy Lockets looked stretched and faint on my curvier parts, but were the right size by bum/ waist. As I understood it they were affected by flood damage causing cash flow issues last year

frogspawn15 · 31/10/2024 21:03

I have a similar shape (12/14), leggings are either too big on the waist or too tight on the leg. I recently bought some from sturdy by design and they're really comfy and stay up. I also bought some shorts from Athlecia and I really rate them too (no drawstring).

MiddleClassProblem · 31/10/2024 21:08

I’ve just ordered some from Tikiboo but if they are not right I will try another recommendation. Thank you all so much!

MiddleClassProblem · 04/11/2024 15:08

Just to say they arrived today and are amazing! Such nice feel. I just got plain black luxe ones with pockets but now I know the fit I will order some with a bit more fun!

I’ve done a couple of squats in them as a test and they don’t gap or make their way down little by little.

Two pockets that we super deep too! Very excited.

Thanks all x
