Why is it accepted that men will pee on the seat/floor?

Why is this a thing, like “oh, he’s a man, that’s what they do”?

Heard it lots of times from friends and colleagues and have seen similar posts on here. Why is it treated like an unavoidable event that a grown man (or anyone over the young child age)
finds it ok to leave body fluids on or around the toilet?

🤮

I've never experienced this myself. It's probably from people who have a very low bar when it comes to the behaviour of others. Who don't believe men could possibly clean after themselves because they have a penis.

Not in my house.

And this is the reason I complained when they tried to bring in unisex loos at work. If you think it's impossible to either; aim, clean up, or sit down, I'm not sharing a loo with you.

Sit down or clean up.

Acornsoup · 27/10/2024 15:02

Don't accept it.

Not in Denmark! At language school we all received instructions on this particular point.

SonicBoomInTheRoom · 27/10/2024 15:04

I thought the OP meant seat as in bar seat or in a restaurant and I was trying to think if I've ever seen anyone do that. I was about to comment that anyone would have to be intoxicated into oblivion to do this and then read the thread.

Now I feel silly.

wiesowarum · 27/10/2024 15:06

And many German men.
Edit - this was in reference to the 'only men sit down to wee' comment.

Wolfpa · 27/10/2024 15:06

It’s not acceptable in my house

MrsTerryPratchett · 27/10/2024 15:07

@StrictlyAFemaleFemale Germany as well. Many men sit. Seemingly in the same countries with good social programs and women's rights. Correlation or causation?

Absolutely not acceptable! And why would it ever be?

My partner does not do this and neither do my 13 and 6 year old boys. Parenting is about teaching kids some respect, manners and basic hygiene standards.

Tulip8 · 27/10/2024 15:09

I dunno, I've been in some pretty disgusting women's toilets in my time too.

Withtheday · 27/10/2024 15:09

My Dad, brother and H never do/did this. My youngest does sometimes but he is a young child and is being trained out of it by me and his Dad.

Only gross, disgusting men do this.

German and Swedish men = well known emasculated men. Mmmmm tall and hunky. I'll take them all off your hands.

user1471538283 · 27/10/2024 15:13

Men don't do it in my house. I understand that the mens bathroom at work is really bad. Surely this is a life skill?

Men that do this clearly think it's ok because someone will clean up for them. No.

Don't start me off.

DancingPhantomsOnTheTerrace · 27/10/2024 15:13

No idea. It doesn't happen in my house (or if it does, DH cleans it up himself).

I don't think it's so much the weeing on the seat that is the issue, it's the "ah well, no need to clean it up, I'll leave it for someone else" attitude. Just unbelievably selfish.

Jonismorf · 27/10/2024 15:14

I hate to break it to you ladies, but if the males in your house don't get urine on the floor then they're probably pissing in the sink 😂

Why do you believe standing to pee makes a man more masculine? Women could stand and pee over the toilet as well but that would be ridiculous. Same with men standing to pee.

Exactly this.

It's lack of basic manners and consideration.

As for the inane emasculation comments, where do you want start?! Other than to point out that emasculation doesn't really exist.
