Why is it accepted that men will pee on the seat/floor?

Why is this a thing, like “oh, he’s a man, that’s what they do”?

Heard it lots of times from friends and colleagues and have seen similar posts on here. Why is it treated like an unavoidable event that a grown man (or anyone over the young child age)
finds it ok to leave body fluids on or around the toilet?

🤮

Real men stand to pee made me actually laugh out loud. I’m sorry your sense of self is so low that the mere act of sitting on a toilet would make you doubt your whole identity.

Both my dad and my father in law do this, and I find it absolutely repellant. Not just a little bit, but I’d say it seems only about half gets in the loo each time. I mean puddles of it on the floor. Neither of them have ever cleaned a toilet in their life.

That’s absolutely disgusting. I’m now imagining some unsuspecting person going to the toilet after them and walking in a puddle of cold urine.

Not in my flat is it accepted!
I have NEVER understood why, considering I and my sister couldn't "aim", didn't watch ourselves pee (urgh!), why we NEVER spilt any. Whereas our little brother who carefully watched himself pee and (supposedly) could aim JUST dripped everywhere!
I mean, we've watched him do it and... OK I won't continue. But it's really pathetic.

LikeWhoUsesTypewritersAnyway · 27/10/2024 16:06

My DH doesn't piss all over the toilet seat and floor FGS! And no he doesn't piss in the sink, as one poster suggested! 🙄 I know some men do it though. I would not tolerate it, and couldn't be with a man who pisses all over the toilet seat and floor. How fucking infantile! I bet the 'men' who do this never clean it/wipe it up either.

On what planet is it accepted @Kibble29 - men pissing over the toilet seat and floor? Glad I don't live in your house!

Jonismorf · Today 15:52

A question for those mums who toilet-trained their sons. Did you teach them to pull their foreskins back when peeing?

I bet the men with foreskins don't bother 'pulling it back' to piss. I bet the majority of mums of boys never told them to either - or showed them how! Also what about the dads? They can actually get involved in parenting too. It's not just a mum's job!

I am glad to have a husband who is circumcised. He chose to do it HIMSELF - for his own personal reasons - when he was 21 by the way, before anyone comes out with the 'why would anyone butcher their child' line! 🙄

Have to say I prefer a circumcised man too, (and he had it done 2-3 years before we met! So I didn't push him into doing it!)

Also, no way in hell is any public womens toilet as bad as the mens.

It’s an arrogant male view that it does not matter where the pee lands, they’ll not be the ones cleaning it up. It’s probably mummy boys who never lifted a finger and they go to marry some drip of woman who carries on the role. Vile.

It's a bit shit if you measure masculinity by stand up wees....what a low bar.

Or warm urine.

A question for those mums who toilet-trained their sons. Did you teach them to pull their foreskins back when peeing? This, I believe, is a major cause of erratic spraying. I worked in a care environment and was quite shocked to learn that many males aren't aware of this until a little later in their lives.

Seeing as foreskins don’t retract until well after toilet training, I’d hope not

GingerLiberalFeminist · 27/10/2024 17:19

My godson and hus brother used to do this. I'd make them clear it up. Every. Single. Time. But their parents let them get away with it.

MoonlightMemories · 27/10/2024 18:19

There are some loos in my workplace that are staff unisex or staff disabled ones and therefore can be used by anyone, but the state I have seen them in often after a male colleague has been in is just revolting. Pee all over the floor, all over the inner loo where the seat sits, the seat itself if it's left down, sometimes all over the back of the loo where the cistern is too.

There are signs asking people to be considerate but they don't seem to pay any attention to them at all. I really resent having to clean up after men when I want to use the loo so I don't get pee all over my shoes/trousers/bottom when I can use it with consideration and they don't need to clean up before using it themselves.

user1471453601 · 27/10/2024 18:24

A male friend of the family always pees sitting down. He has a piercing that kind of gets in the way if he pees stood up stood up. He reckons it's no hardship and he thinks it's more hygenic.

GrumpyPanda · 27/10/2024 16:08

If I had ever asked my FIL to clean up after himself, he would have been incredibly offended and so would MIL on his behalf. Mentioning it would have been seen as far worse than making the mess in the first place.

I would spray all over their home, like a dog. Take great offence if they dare to complain as complaining is worse than peeing.

Stretchedresources · 27/10/2024 18:35

Teen DS has literally never done this or left the seat up. No man taught him how to wee standing up, just me when he was a pre-schooler.

DecafDodger · 27/10/2024 19:26

Exactly like OP says, in some circles it's totally normal that men piss all over the place and leave it for women to clean up.

StamppotAndGravy · 27/10/2024 20:25

Explains why Dutch and German men are sexier: they probably get more if their partners aren't mopping up piss all the time!

GiddyRobin · 27/10/2024 20:33

MrsTerryPratchett · 27/10/2024 15:12

German and Swedish men = well known emasculated men. Mmmmm tall and hunky. I'll take them all off your hands.

Norwegian men, too. Never a splash! Far rather have an "emasculated" beauty of a man who sits down to wee, than a "masculine" man who stands and leaves puddles.

Honestly, such silly comments. DS was taught to sit down and wee. Obviously he can stand too, but sitting comes first. That's how DH was taught as was the norm in Norway when he grew up.

DramaAlpaca · 27/10/2024 20:43

I have a DH and three adult sons and it's not acceptable.

I know they all stand to wee, and I wouldn't dream of policing that, but if they make a mess they are expected to clean up - and have been since they were small boys.

That said, the loos on my floor at work are unisex and I HATE it. They can be grim.

God knows, but this is why actual women need our own toilets.

The ones at our local train station are unisex and each unit is totally enclosed so technically should be acceptable- but they're nearly always bloody minging. I rushed in the other day as my train wasn't far off and some dirty bastard had pissed all over the seat and floor, and not even flushed. Grim 😡
