I was about to post a thread about the sunrise being an hour earlier than two days ago and wanted someone to explain this to me..

And then i spotted another mn thread about the clocks changing! Omg I can't believe it. I was sure it was next week!

The funny thing is we were planning a walk up to the beach to watch the sunrise and when I woke up I was thinking it was a lot lighter than I expected it to be 😂😂

You big Div lol

Echobelly · 27/10/2024 08:00

Don't worry, we've all done things like this.

We went on holiday to Lanzarote at Christmas some years ago and I was surprised how dark it was in the mornings when we got up... and we were nearly halfway into the holiday when we realised our phones had automatically gone to Spanish mainland time because they just classified the Canaries as 'Spain' and we had been an hour ahead the whole trip so far! 🙀

Intheoldendays · 27/10/2024 08:04

Because someone got the week wrong?

Because she lost track of the date? Confused

We only heard on the radio in the car at about 5pm yesterday, completely forgot. Changed the timings on the kids' clocks and got til 6:50 in new money - happy days!

XxSideshowAuntSallyx · 27/10/2024 08:19

I looked at the clock in the kitchen thinking it was half eight it was only half seven no wonder it was so quiet everywhere 😂.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 27/10/2024 08:30

Don't worry OP, I went to work on a bank holiday once.

As a mother, I despair of science teachers.

TheGreatScotchEggControversy · 27/10/2024 13:05

We were talking this morning that it appears to be a secret this year 😂.

I think it is because October has gone by so fast no one realised it could possibly be time to put the clocks back.

Abracadabra12345 · 27/10/2024 13:34

The worst was when the clocks went forward an hour and our minister didn't realise. She was poodling around, thinking about breakfast and getting dressed when the parish warden knocked her door to say they were waiting for her to start the church service...

What on earth has that got to do with anything?

SoupDragon · 27/10/2024 13:38

I only realised they were changing because they mentioned it on Strictly!

@CitizenZ

because some people have to shoe horn their 'brags' into as many threads as possible. Tedious.

I think since most things update themselves these days, it's far less 'advertised' and talked about.

plus it used to be on the front pages of newspapers, but not many people buy printed papers anymore.

GiddyRobin · 27/10/2024 13:47

You're not alone, OP. I couldn't sleep last night because I've got the starts of some sort of flu...saw it was 1am, read for a bit, then suddenly...it was 1am all over again! Took me a good 30 seconds to realise what had happened. 😂 I briefly thought I'd entered into some sort of fever dream!

Dontcallmescarface · 27/10/2024 14:04

I got muddled up and put mine an hour forward....took me a while to realise why it was 2 hours fast.

I sent my daughter to school on an Inset day once.

murasaki · 27/10/2024 16:04

I know it's the last weekend of March/October. I have known this since I was ten or so. And everything changes itself automatically.

This still doesn't stop my mother texting me every damn time. I am 47. 🤣

Bless her.

When I was young and wild, before smart phones and digital clocks/watches (yep I'm older by lots now!) I went out with friends and we got home at some ridiculous hour of the morning. We all went to bed and slept like logs. It was Winter too. When I gradually woke I'd no idea if my watch said 7am or 7pm as it was dark outside. we were a bit hungover to say the least, and someone had to put the TV on and match the time with the program to see if it was day or night.

Roystonv · 27/10/2024 16:33

Forgot completely and didn't realise unit about 1.30. Dh changed the kitchen clock before he went to bed, everything else changed itself so no 'time slip' occurred. First time its happened and it feels very weird.

PortobelloToad · 27/10/2024 16:36

I was once really ill with strep and had a docs appointment on the Monday after the clocks changed. As I’d been laid up in bed for the weekend and totally out of touch with the world I didn’t realise about the clocks. Ended up having to sit outside the GP for an hour in the cold feeling like death 😫

It does seem to have not been spoken about much this year. Anyway I'm happy as I cycle to work so that's a wee boost for tomorrow!
