Just starting to plan work holidays for next year and things we can do, places to go. Starting to see Christmas decorations in shops. Any films/TV series/books on the horizon? What big and small things are you looking forward at his moment in time?

Big thing for me is that my baby and her baby are coming to stay for a few days in a couple of weeks. I can't wait! We see her every 2 or 3 months but would like to see her more. She will be here for my birthday for the first time in years!

Otherwise Christmas, of course, and hearing my chorister grandson sing in the Christmas concerts and services at the cathedral. We have a couple of things booked at the theatre, which I am looking forward to as well.

Crushed23 · 23/10/2024 15:17

A mountain climb I'm doing tomorrow.

Emigrating next month.

GiddyRobin · 23/10/2024 15:32

We've got a break up to Edinburgh next week, as DH is playing violin at an event. Can't wait! Books, none currently on my mind that are new but that's because I've had a big 'to be read list' for a while that I'm working through. 😂 Looking forward to the new Nosferatu film in December!

Our anniversary is in November, so we've got a weekend break to Ireland and we're doing outdoor seaweed baths in whiskey barrels, plus a sauna! Halloween celebrations first which are big in our village, and of course...Christmas! Off to Norway where DH is from, and I am counting down the days!

Autumn into winter gets very busy for us.

I’ve just got back from a holiday and am now looking forward to watching TV, going to the cinema, buying some new candles and generally having a cosy time.

RisingSunn · 23/10/2024 15:36

Fireworks night strangely enough…I don’t know why. But I’m really trying to get the kids to a good show this year.

MessyNeate · 23/10/2024 15:39

We're going to DLP next month and its our first holiday as a family so I'm very excited!

Inextremis · 23/10/2024 16:21

Dinner. I'm cooking my very first Osso Buco and it smells wonderful :)

EngineEngineNumber9 · 23/10/2024 16:29

I can’t wait for the Christmas season as we didn’t really “do” Christmas properly last year as had moved into a new house and didn’t have tree or decs sorted. Also had a very low key day so looking forward to spending Christmas morning with my nieces this year!

Further ahead it’s my fortieth next year so I’m looking forward to planning some exciting things to celebrate. Already going to a dance music festival with DH in the Netherlands at the end of June and I want to have a karaoke party in August 🥳

Ooh and I’m also looking forward to seeing Moulin Rouge the musical next spring and Billy Joel at Murrayfield in June too. Both with my lovely mum 🥰

taggy321 · 23/10/2024 16:33

John Boyne's new novel - part 3 in the elements series out 6th November
Daisy May Cooper new book out Saturday
MAFSUK new episode tonight
Taking my DC trick or treating next week
A few other nice days out planned over the next 2 or 3 weeks
Christmas!!!!!

weegiemum · 23/10/2024 16:36

I'm looking forward to everyone who lives here coming home tonight! For some reason I've been a bit lonely today!

Further ahead, I'm really looking forward to Christmas, my parents are joining us this year for the first time ever as well as my lovely mil who always comes. Luckily they get on well (my folks have been to stay with her) so it should be a fun day.

After Christmas it's our 30th wedding anniversary and we are booked in to a fabulous posh restaurant for a tasting menu with paired wines. We'd love to be total foodies if we could afford it so looking forward to that one!

Simonjt · 23/10/2024 16:45

I’ve recently had a septoplasty with a bone graft, I have these like nostril supports so swelling doesn’t move the graft, they’re really irritating and have to be slid back in constantly. I have sn appointment tomorrow and should hopefully be having them out.

TheSecondMrsCampbellBlack · 23/10/2024 16:52

Champagne and dinner tonight as we are celebrating, we're having herb crusted rack of lamb, broccoli with a lemon, yoghurt & feta dressing and mini roasted potatoes in their skins

An amazing burger on Friday night from the best local burger place

Romantic dinner in a great restaurant on Saturday with dh

OMG these are ALL food related so far! But also:

Seeing my adult DS next week in London

Seeing St Jilly of Cooper at the Southbank Centre on Tuesday and having dinner with dh, my sister and her husband beforehand

Re-watching Rivals as I'm sure I missed loads the first time

Seeing my daughter in November, walking on beaches, staying in a lovely hotel

Christmas, which is just us so low pressure but it will be lovely to have my children home

PrincessHoneysuckle · 23/10/2024 16:56

Going away to a Haven for 3 nights this weekend and we have 2 more short breaks to look forward to before the new year.

Greenfingers37 · 23/10/2024 17:17

Looking forward to our son getting his first proper pay this week (graduate job) so we won't have to fund him
anymore! 🤣

Also, a trip to Belfast next weekend to see family, Frank Skinner gig in November, a trip to the Peak District in February, a European river cruise in June and a holiday to Mallorca in September. Being retired is amazing!

Thommasina · 23/10/2024 17:22

This is a great question OP and I've found that I really had to think about it a lot more than is healthy. All the things I'm looking forward to are conditional. I'm looking forward to dc1 getting the all clear after a medical procedure (they may not), dc3 playing in an important match at the weekend (it may go badly) and finally recovering from covid (don't know when). I need to think of something tangible!!

EllaPaella · 23/10/2024 21:23

Going to North Devon for a week holiday on Friday. I have a load of uni work to do but at least I'll be in a cottage by the sea with a hot tub to relax in each evening. I've had a really hectic and stressful year so far so looking forward to a bit of down time just me, DH and the kids.

SalmonWellington · 23/10/2024 21:28

Going to bed with a new to me book of ghost stories.

custardcreamsies · 23/10/2024 21:29

I’ll be seeing friends and family a lot more now the holiday season is coming up. I cannot wait!.

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 23/10/2024 21:46

Retiring after 20 years in the same job on Friday. Going to Marrakesh with friends in November, Christmas where I’m not working up to the end of term then running around like a blue arsed fly.

Tupperwarefan · 23/10/2024 21:52

Whats your book @SalmonWellington ? I love a good ghost story! Im looking forward to Christmas and Bonfire night. Also our local town lights switch on. And I am really looking forward to half term!

Catsmere · 23/10/2024 21:55

My knitting group tomorrow. Always a fun day, they're lovely women.

theriseandfallofFranklinSaint · 23/10/2024 22:10

Totally materialistic but going back to Niketown tomorrow to buy some trainers I saw there today... 😍

But also going out for drinks with DH this weekend, parties and nights out I have booked in over the next 2 months and Christmas (the 2 whole weeks I'll have off work really!) 😁

TheChosenTwo · 23/10/2024 22:12

Just back from holiday and crawling through this week at work, only thing I’m looking forward to at this very second is the weekend 😂
