Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot, in silence. The kittens are fed & have taken themselves off for a snooze somewhere. And no-one else is up, so I'm enjoying the peace and quiet 😊

I'm in need of a very slow & moochy day today. I' m a bit achey after being out Friday night for end of term drinks with colleagues, and last night to a friend's for tea and put the world to rights.

I've got some washing on, and a second load to go in, and will make a pie for tea 😋. If I get to it, I'll list some more things on Vinted.

Dd1 has her UCAS application in hand and will probably work on her personal statement some more, as well as finish any homework for the week.

Dd2's finished all her homework & wants to write some revision notes to join her ever-growing collection! We're supposed to be tidying her dressing table/desk and organising its drawers today too 🤔 I've told her I don't want to be doing it late!

Later on, I might run myself a bath I think & stew for a while with my book and a glass of wine - probably after everyone's showered. Then an early night ready for the last week of term.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning!

I woke at 7 and decided I'd rather get up (usually I love a few extra hours of sleep whenever I can manage it, but not today).

I lit my candle and spent some time reading this lovely book in the peace and quiet.

I've had a cup of tea; about to make another one. Will have coffee with DH when he's up.

I've got some organising/clearing out to do. Have brought some boxes of random Christmas things downstairs - will sort through them today and give away anything I don't truly love.

Hoping it will be a gentle, soothing day. No plans so will just do bits and bobs on my chores list.

Dinner will be roast lamb. Can't wait!

Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

So glad you asked!!!

Exciting day today!

Going on a lovely wee holiday to Wales next week so today doing the food shop to get all the lovely foods we love but never buy, stocking up for the child who won’t be joining us next week too. Going shopping with them which means I get to spend time with them which I rarely get the opportunity to do.

Then coffee with a friend who I haven’t seen in ages.

Just looking at the cat who is sitting on the window sill surveying her kingdom all cozy and warm while the autumnal weather rages outside.
It warms my soul to see, I love autumn.

Work has been very stressful so I am SO ready for this break.

A perfect Sunday.

I am just about to get up and put the chicken in the oven for lunch. Peeled all the veg last night apart from cabbage.

Got soooo much washing to get done today. I do a load everyday, how has it mounted up so much?!

After I have cleaned up after lunch I am sitting on the sofa all afternoon and only moving to sort the laundry.

Twins will no doubt be gaming/homework this afternoon, then the Sunday night dread for school tomorrow….

Was supposed to be down the allotment today, but storm Ashley saw to that one. Angry 60 mph winds & rain here!

Need to change ds8 diabetes sensor as it randomly decided to stop working in the night, so I'm sleep deprived too and need to ring the company to work out why it's not working, joys of technology!

Need to write out his birthday party invitations today. Apart from that cuddle up on the sofa watch the good robot & read some more of my book. Having a lazy Sunday instead as have a busy week!
Smile

Good morning @lucysmam . I had very little sleep last night so it was nice to wake up a little later, around 8am. I have had my breakfast in bed, and now I'm contemplating getting up and dressed. We are going to Sainsbury's this morning to pick up a few bits we have run out of, and I want to look at the clothes in the sale. I also want to pick up a couple of ready meals and a steak for me to have when my DH is away next weekend.

I expect (and hope) we will have a rummage in the Community toy shed on our way home. My baby and her baby are coming to stay in a couple of weeks so it would be nice to have some new toys for him to play with while he's here.

Otherwise there is some laundry to do, as usual. I wasn't able to go swimming on Friday morning as I usually do, so I'm hoping I will be able to swim tomorrow morning, again as I usually do. I don't work on Friday or Monday so those are my swimming days.

Silence, I’d love to borrow some of that.

A very lazy day here, for me anyway, I’ve recently had an operation to correct my septum and I needed a bone graft, so it’s still really painful, I have no idea how anyone willingly puts themself through surgery for vanity, it’s like someone is following me around and punching me in the face. Our two year old no longers screams when she sees my face, so I know I’m starting to look a lot better 🤣

My husbands taking our son to see wild robot at the cinema today, so I’m taking our daughter to softplay and a little farm park.

When we’re all home we’ll catch up on the latest episode of agatha all along, but apart from that it’s going to be a fairly lazy sunday.

Morning! Got up early this morning, had a hearty bowl of porridge. Read DD 7 stories and had lovely cuddles. Went for a gentle 8k run to blow away the cobwebs (finally starting to feel better after a nasty cold/flu) talked to my bestie on the phone for an hour. DD just made her first (very wobbly) steps so I'm a proud mama. Shes wearing her Christmas dress today because she's just had a growth spurt and so is fitting comfortably into 9-12 months and I imagine it will be too small by December (shes only 7.5 months). Now I've got to do my coursework rather than wasting time on Mumsnet. Going to make a smoky chicken and butter bean soup and sourdough for dinner later :) should really do some cleaning but ....nah.

Topsy44 · 20/10/2024 09:35

Good morning Lucysmam and All!

About to jump in the shower, then DD and I are off to see my Mum. Sounds awful but I could really do with just a day at home as feeling shattered. DD has got some homework to do so will hopefully do that at my Mums and then home early evening to get work and school stuff ready.

Counting down to Friday when school breaks up and I have a few days off work the following week!

CarlaBird · 20/10/2024 09:35

Good morning. Heading out for a soggy dog walk, then a few hours with Bette Davis on the sofa.

Andnowshesatoddler · 20/10/2024 09:36

We're going on a holiday in a month but with my health at the moment I am having to begin tasks early so I am writing packing lists and making plans far in advance of what needs to be brought I just can't guarantee I'll be able to do things nearer the time.

Today I got the toddler to try some clothes on... Bit tight but will do.

Going to put a boots order in later on too.

mechanicalpencil · 20/10/2024 09:37

Have woken up with a dull feeling in the pit of my stomach as lots of problems with work. It is making me really stressed 😣
I have an almond croissant to warm up though so going to have that soon.
The weather is awful today so will not be venturing out.

@Simonjt wishing you a speedy recovery ❤️‍🩹

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 20/10/2024 09:38

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I'm heading out soon to meet a friend for coffee and cake. The weather here is mainly wet, wind to follow later. This afternoon I'll visit mum in hospital. Otherwise, a cosy day with only a little ironing to do. Enjoy your day all

restingwitchface23 · 20/10/2024 09:39

My toddler is full of cold so we're having a sofa day. She's already slept in much later than normal and shes still sleepy and cuddly now. Just watching CBeebies with a coffee. Will cook some breakfast soon, maybe an omelette or sausages.

While she's napping I'm hoping to get some jobs done around the house and I need to pop to the shops to get some Halloween bits. We are away during half term so trying to get organised!

Later it'll be a Sunday roast, fire, chill and strictly. Hoping to get some reading in somewhere too!

Worriedaboutdoggo · 20/10/2024 09:39

Freaking out! My lovely little dog had a seizure in the night and has spent the night in the emergency hospital. They were supposed to call with an update at 7am and they haven’t. I’ve called and they just said they will call me back……

jenn88 · 20/10/2024 09:41

Good morning @lucysmam
I have been up since 6.30 with 6month old, we have just got back into bed for a feed and a nap!
Weather is rubbish, food shop is being delivered - no need to leave the house but wondering how long till DD5 starts climbing the walls!!
Have a lovely day!

ssd · 20/10/2024 09:42

Hi @lucysmam ..i am very lazy and still in bed. The weather outside sounds dreadful. I might just stay here Grin

Butterflyfern · 20/10/2024 09:46

Going into labour hopefully!!!

Waters broke last night, and am booked in to go to be induced late tonight so trying to have a chilled oxytocin filled day beforehand :)

gingercat02 · 20/10/2024 09:46

It's been a busy weekend, hence missing yesterday's thread.

We had friends staying, so Friday was late and boozy! They left yesterday afternoon, so masses of washing and general clearing up. Strictly, the Voice and F1 on the sofa with a little hair of the dog 🍷

Just had breakfast and about to go to PiYo, but the weather is grim, so I'm not keen!
No real plans as it is forecast to be wet and very windy all day.

Autumnorganising · 20/10/2024 09:47

Good morning @lucysmam. I’m recovering from a very boozy dinner party. It was great fun - our guests didn’t leave until nearly 2am. There’s a lot of tidying up still to be done, but at least we managed to get the dishwasher on last night ( this morning 😀).
Horrible day outside, so definitely a pj day.

Sunsetsandcocktails · 20/10/2024 09:50

Good morning all! Weather is wet and windy here so not got much planned. We cleaned the house yesterday so don’t have any house jobs to do. DH’s best friend is here so they are going to brave the weather and go for a walk soon so I’m planning to get my watercolours out and do some painting.

Then have lunch with them and watch the football this afternoon. Will make a chicken pie for tea. Saw my parents yesterday which was lovely and this is the first weekend in weeks I’ve had no plans so it’s been lovely and relaxing and feeling very grateful for everything today.

Hope everyone has a lovely day and hope you get good news soon @Worriedaboutdoggo

Nandolorris86 · 20/10/2024 09:54

This thread just saved my day as it reminded me to put stew in the slow cooker!! Would have been dreadful if I remembered later as I prefer it slow cooking alllll day!

Wind and rain here! Not sure what to do but would like a trip to Waterstones this afternoon.

Im feeling a bit down in the dumps but I think it’s because my job is pretty bad right now

Crunchymum · 20/10/2024 09:54

After a day out of the house yesterday, I have all the weekend chores to attend to.

So far I've done the cat litter trays, first lot of washing is on, 2 airers have been cleared and we've all had breakfast.

Homework for the older 2 is in progress.

Have shopping coming soon, although there is much in terms of actual dinners? Dinner will be chicken, new potatoes and green veg. I've ordered all the heavy stuff but not much to feed us with.

Later DP will he home from work so he'll be on reading duty with DC3 and viola practice duty with DC1. He's worked 7 days this week so I've let him off of the weekend chores.

Hopefully we'll all be able to agree on a film for this evening. I swear it take longer to choose the film these days, than it does to watch it.

dothehokeycokey · 20/10/2024 10:02

I've been awake since 7 am but pottering and still in my pjs

Usual washing and dishwasher tidying hoovering stuff to do but cleared out half the kitchen cupboards yesterday also doing the other half later

Also need to clear out the upstairs store room ready for Xmas deliveries coming this week and have persuaded dh we need to get into the loft and start sorting it

Plan to load the car with stuff and drive it to the dump if the wind doesn't hamper that plan.

Then a chilled evening of self care and good tv with the dogs.

Greentableleg · 20/10/2024 10:05

I'm still in bed due to having a covid jab yesterday and feel full of aches and pains in my joints, tired and generally rubbish. Hopefully I will be able to get up later but have no plans other than snuggling up on sofa with a film.

Good luck @Butterflyfern !
