TMZ are reporting that Liam Payne has died, after falling from a hotel window

Top news story now. I'm so shocked.

And of the threads about Liam Payne in Chat, was actually in AIBU first. If you go and look at it. That poster posted it in AIBU first as well. Then it was moved to chat

So you can see the multiple threads are being moved out of AIBU as they shouldn't be here, why have you decided to post yet another one 🙄

Mrsdoyler · 16/10/2024 23:36

Then let mumsnet move it. Do you think you run mumsnet?

It's not a big deal.

So you thought you’d fix that by starting another one in the wrong topic? It’s not the “main page” isn’t AIBU. So what AIBU question do you have?

Dontlletmedownbruce · 16/10/2024 23:39

Reminds me of poor Steven Gately from Boyzone. Similar age, similar band. Sudden tragic death. Apparently he was going to Nialls concert, they were still friends.

I didn't see the other threads before I posted mine obviously.

If you look at the timestamps of the threads, we all started the threads within 10.minutes of each other.

Whenever there is a major news story there are always multiple threads about it on mumsnet.

Do you honestly think if thousands of people across the UK see a major news story, only one singe person will come on and start a thread about it on mumsnet? That's not realistic at all

OP posts:
MonsteraMama · 16/10/2024 23:43

Did it not occur to you that:

  1. the thread was moved because it was in the wrong place and

  2. if a thread already exists another one isn't needed

Bit grim to use a young man's death to drum up some internet points for yourself.

Yes apparently he was over there for nialls concert.

Ah poor liam. It's so sad

Nice bullet points!

Did it not occur to you that

  1. I didn't see the other threads before I started mine
  1. Anytime there is major news story, there is always more than one thread about it on mumsnet.

Can you clarify why you think there should be only one thread on a topic?

That's not in the rules of mumsnet.

OP posts:
Waltdisnerd · 16/10/2024 23:46

There's a video online of a Snapchat video he put up not even an hour beforehand.
So sad

Mrsdoyler · 16/10/2024 23:50

It's terribly sad. He's so young. I'm older than him.

Nice failure to do bullet points Grin

AIBU is still the wrong place for your thread and you know it. You've posted it here for traffic, again using the death of a young man to get yourself some internet points. Which is macabre, and the reason I think there's zero need for more than one thread about something like this, especially threads posted by people incapable of posting in the correct place.

Surprise50 · 16/10/2024 23:51

So what is your AIBU question OP?? Oh yes - YES ybvvvu to start a thread in this topic! Report your own thread and get it moved. Or better still, get it taken down. 🙄🙄

Jumpingthruhoops · 16/10/2024 23:53

Seriously, a young man has died, and people's main concern is that a thread about it has been posted in AIBU rather than Chat!? Truly, no words...

Re: having now than one thread on a topic.

That's your opinion, not mumsnet's opinion.

So your opinion doesn't matter on that

There are already at least two threads on this and it shouldn't be posted on AIBU.

And yet you clicked on it just to post that! Are you a moderator on here? No…thought not.

This ^^

Ignore them OP.

Some people take internet chat forums worryingly seriously.

Oodiks · 16/10/2024 23:59

Yeah, my daughter just came and told me. Not shocked exactly, but it's sad for someone so young to have lost their life. I've not followed One Direction, but I was aware of them. Seems he had addiction issues.

Oh, it's Monstera Mama, I read it as Monster Mama and wasn't surprised.

Danielle9891 · 17/10/2024 00:03

Why are people saying 'poor Cheryl Coles'? She met him when he was 14 and mentored him, she was 25 then started a relationship with him at a later date. Its no better than Phillip Schofield.

Because she has a child with Liam.

She is going to have to tell the child that his dad died

Because AIBU is the main page

It's not the main page and it's in very poor taste to have a vote on someones death. Why didn't you post on one of the other threads?

Why didn't you post on one of the other threads?

The threads were all started around the same time.

The second part of your post has already been asked several times and I've already answered that.

I said I didn't see any other threads, when I started mine.

Are you familiar with the layout of mumsnet. When you come onto the homepage , it shows trending threads. It doesn't show every single thread.

Can you not read this thread, instead of asking me things that I've already answered three times?

Also no one has to vote. I've never voted on an aibu thread
