I was just wondering this....

OP posts:
TheGoddessMinerva · 16/10/2024 12:13

I’ve just killed a chicken, but I’m not sure how many it should feed.

My child listens to the wireless for hours each evening. Should I limit their listening?

TheGoddessMinerva · 16/10/2024 12:17

My husband goes out to work each day and earns a good wage. He hands it to me for the housekeeping each week, and we have equal say over how the rest is saved or spent.

He has now started wanting to become involved in helping around the house and raising the children. How can I persuade him just to smoke his pipe and read the newspaper in the evenings? I’m afraid the neighbours will judge me if he starts getting involved in women’s work.

coodawoodashooda · 16/10/2024 12:17

The teacher is cross with my kid. I've sent my child to bed and to them not to disgrace our family. How do I ever show face in the playground again?

Scentsless · 16/10/2024 12:23

We want to buy a house, but the cost is astronomical. Would we be mad to take out a mortgage of £1000 to buy it?

soupfiend · 16/10/2024 12:24

The woman over the road hasnt cleaned her front step in ages, is she a lazy slattern?

TheGoddessMinerva · 16/10/2024 12:24

My neighbour was seen yesterday coming home with more chocolate biscuits than her ration card would allow.

Do you think she is having an affair with the grocer?

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 16/10/2024 12:25

OMG! What's going on in Korea is WWIII

We're all going to die!!!!!

So no different to 2024 Mumsnet essentially.

Sassysoonwins · 16/10/2024 12:26

Mrs Plackett next door told Elsie's mum my nets aren't white enough and my milk bottles were put out with a bit of milk in the bottom. I'm mortified but at the same time I don't see how it's hurting anyone AIBU?

TheGoddessMinerva · 16/10/2024 12:26

Churchill, Attlee, Bevin.

Which would you Shag, Marry, Avoid?

Uselessatbeingaperson · 16/10/2024 12:26

Can the sun hurry up and rise so I can throw my child outside.

EarthlyNightshade · 16/10/2024 12:31

My DS won't stop reading, I'm worried it will addle his brain. WWYD?

AIBU sending my 4 year old out first thing in the morning and asking her to be home by nightfall? She wants to come home earlier but so far I'm holding firm.

My neighbour keeps parking his bicycle in front of my house. Should I let the air out of his tyres?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 16/10/2024 12:32

Anybody else reading Dr Spock's new book? He seems to think four-hourly feeds might not be the way to feed a newborn. My GP thinks he's a dangerous radical. Thoughts?

Ameliasvocalfry · 16/10/2024 12:33

I'm chuckling at this thread, I was born in the 50s and these are so true!

EngineEngineNumber9 · 16/10/2024 12:36

Anyone else REALLY enjoying these new vibrating weight loss belts?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 16/10/2024 12:40

Same GP has advised me to take up smoking to help with my nerves. I told him about my DH rolling in drunk most evenings and being foul to me and the DC. He said DH just needs to let off steam after a hard day at work and I shouldn't grudge him his little pleasures. I should make sure everything is exactly to his liking and the DC should be seen and not heard. Is this really all I have to look forward to? Sad

Uselessatbeingaperson · 16/10/2024 12:41

I'm pregnant and keep being sick. My doctor has given me these tablets are they safe?

Sethera · 16/10/2024 12:44

Can you recommend me a stylish headscarf to cover my curlers please? Also any recommendations for setting lotion?

Walkinginthesand · 16/10/2024 12:55

What do other Mumsnetters think of this new American singer, Elvis Presley? My mother thinks he's disgusting but I rather like him though he makes me feel a bit odd.

Windchimesandsong · 16/10/2024 12:56

On AIBU - Should the NHS give unemployed people "bennies" (amphetamines) for weight loss?

Uselessatbeingaperson · 16/10/2024 12:57

What do you all make of the new Queen? Where are you all watching the coronation? My Reg says Daisy down the street has one of them Televisions to watch it on. The street are talking about some kind of party but I don't think we've been invited, wwyd?

Concerns about DS!

Worried for my 16 year old boy. He’s a good lad but lately he’s changed his hair style and clothes - preferring quiffs and rather tight trousers. He’s started listening to fast, loud music and going out dancing to halls. What should I do? Im
concerned he’s going to turn into a teddy boy!

Oh I know it's such a worry. I just hope my boy meets someone nice at the local dance who isn't put off by the ridiculous hairstyle. He's 19 and nearly too old to start a family.

Serious answer: read "Can any Mother Help me" by Jenna Bailey. It's fascinating.
Book blurb: "In 1935 a young woman wrote a letter to Nursery World magazine, expressing her feelings of isolation and loneliness. Women from all over the country experiencing similar frustrations wrote back. To create an outlet for their abundant ideas and opinions they started a private magazine, The Cooperative Correspondence Club. The deep friendships formed through its pages ensured the magazine continued until 1990, fifty-five years after the first issue was put together." What goes around comes around eh?

I am worried about my hair grips as there's a storm coming, should I take them out?

Is this Mrs Plackett?
