My partner is stupid isn't he?

My partner never ever seems to have common sense.
Today is the cherry on the cake
We have a whippet who is 1
He has no re call and if off lead (in enclosed spaces he just runs )
Anyway he noticed his lead was snapped (as dog had chewed it ) stuck it back together with masking tape.
Took the dog out and soon as he got to top of street it snapped
20 mins of chasing him, running on busy roads, him having to stop vans to catch him

I'm sorry but how stupid can you get ?
I'm fuming

😂 Sorry. It must be so frustrating for you. Seriously that is one of the ill thought out solutions (aka dumb ideas) I have ever heard. Made me laugh though! (I visualised a Frank Spencer comedy "Some Mothers' Do Have 'Em" very old TV series)

I hope your partner is fantastically loving and supportive to make up for this deficiency.

TheCultureHusks · 10/10/2024 09:42

Yep, not an intelligent man.

flowersbythewindosuchalovelyday · 10/10/2024 09:44

@LetGoLetThem1234 oh honestly he is something else.
One time he cleaned the lino in the kitchen with furniture polish (to make it shiny ) and we couldn't walk on it without nearly breaking our necks

That is one of the thickest things I’ve read on here. What age is he? Has he always been in the ‘dumb as rocks’ category?

YellowRoom · 10/10/2024 09:45

Are you married to Frank Spencer?

Turnitoffnonagain · 10/10/2024 09:47

He's gorgeous though, right? 😁

PaminaMozart · 10/10/2024 09:49

He better be good in the sack at DIY and making dinner...

GeminiGiggles · 10/10/2024 09:49

Not even a knot?

Wow 😳

And masking tape is the least sticky thing of all sticky things 🤣

Chowtime · 10/10/2024 09:59

I'd forgive the stupidity as long as I got flowers and great sex every week.

If not, why bother?

Smellz714 · 10/10/2024 10:16

Christ. The whippet probably has more sense, and I know first hand how daft whippets are 😂

I wouldn't want to have sex with a man who thought he could masking tape a dog lead back together, pat himself on the back, clip the lead to the dog and walk it into the traffic.

No matter how big the bunch of weekly flowers.

Very foolish.

I've found whippets easy to train for recall so I'm a bit worried about yours. They are usually very food orientated.

Mine all return on the word SWEETS. I have lots of dogs of our own and often others so it's not practically to call out individual names!

Have a command word and rain with tiny cubes of cheese.

loveydoveyloon · 10/10/2024 10:34

Does he have a brother that could be living min my house - although he probably would have stapled it or used duct tape

The furniture polish thing did make me lol, my OH did that trying to clean some dress shoes with polish

allthemiddlechildrenoftheworld · 10/10/2024 10:42

@flowersbythewindosuchalovelyday might have been better if masking tape would even stick! it doesnt even stick to walls sometimes!

Mine is so scared of losing us (me)and getting in trouble that she won't go more than 10 foot away. Add in treats and she's velcro.

The poor thing is probably trying to get away from the stupid twat he lives with.

Don’t you go mad trying to have a decent conversation with him OP?

You are living in a sitcom.

Have you noticed disembodied laughter whenever something like this happens? Comic music playing?

flowersbythewindosuchalovelyday · 10/10/2024 12:55

Honestly I've been so annoyed with him all day
Even more so when I have seen the lead and how he tried to stick it together
Look at the tiny bit of tape ...

My partner is stupid isn't he?

On what planet would anyone other than him think that masking tape would hold a lead together when a dog pulled on it?

That's bizarre.

Not wishing to upset anyone but is he simple/feeble minded?

flowersbythewindosuchalovelyday · 10/10/2024 12:57

@Fastback I don't even try anymore 🙈

It sounds as though the whippet is brighter than your dh!

How can you find someone that daft attractive?
