Is it worth going to Lanzarote for 3 nights?

So basically me and my partner had planned to go to Manchester in December for two nights for the Xmas markets.
We have booked (free cancellation ) Friday and Saturday night which is costing £340 for both nights.
I'm itching for some sun and just found myself on Ryanair and booking.com

I've found a apartment in Lanzarote for £220 for 3 nights (Friday -Monday )
So £120 cheaper than Manchester for two nights.
The flights are £140 return for the both of us
Friday 2pm flight arrives Lanzarote for half 6
Monday 8 am flight -back to Manchester for mid day.

Would you do it ?
Gives us two full days in Lanzarote
Bit of sun etc

Or too far to travel ?
What would you do ?

Oh and the transfer is £36 return for both of us

Well I'm currently sitting looking out at torrential rain so I would jump at the chance!

We went to Gran Canaria for 2 nights in December as it was much cheaper than Edinburgh. We had a great time. Even being in the airport child free was delightful 🤣

Thursdaygirl · 08/10/2024 15:53

Yes, why not???

kellyoj · 08/10/2024 16:07

I'm so tempted
Think I was just worried about any flight delays on the way there or cancellations
I've never booked hotel /flights separate and if Ryanair cancel the flight we would be screwed

Yesssss of course

Snoken · 08/10/2024 16:15

Yes, you should definitely go! Manchester Christmas markets is also seriously shit.

Blueberry911 · 08/10/2024 16:23

Manchester Christmas markets have gone shit. I know what I'd pick 😂

There are loads of places to stay on Lanzarote for £50 a night on Booking if you have a look, I'd try and stretch it to 4 or 5 nights if you're able to. We always get the airport buses if we can, that could save you another £30. The island is only about 60km's long (I know we walked it!) and the airport is in the middle pretty much, if you're staying at any of the big tourist resorts in the south it will almost certainly go there. We had to get a taxi to Orzola as it's not popular but got the bus back from Playa Blanca.

kellyoj · 08/10/2024 16:29

@Jessie1259 yeah I have found one in playa blanca
I'm so tempted ha ha

@Blueberry911 oh really ? I haven't been in years and years

Looks like you could book a package with Jet2 for anything from 1 night upwards if you'd feel more comfortable and prices look similar?

DancingLions · 08/10/2024 16:49

Definitely do it. People travel for longer across the UK sometimes just for a weekend.
I always book flights and hotels separate, never had a problem.
I love short trips abroad and do them quite often.

Lulubellamozarella · 08/10/2024 17:02

God I absolutely love Lanzarote. Yes definitely go for it. A few days of sun would be amazing!!!!!

kellyoj · 08/10/2024 17:13

Thanks guys I've booked the accommodation
Going to book flights in the morning
Hopefully the price won't have gone up by then
I'm excited ha ha
2 days of sunshine is just what I need (let's hope it's not cloudy ha ha )
Should it still be decent weather ?

Get travel insurance. Or book as a package if you find it on On The Beach /Last minute.com?? They use Ryanair for their flights but you are protected if you get flights and accommodation together.

Weather is nice all year round in the canaries, even if it’s 21/22 degrees you’ll find the sun strong enough to enjoy as it’s so far south.

I agree with a PP who say try to stretch to 4 nights if you possibly can, but 2 full days in the sunshine with a book and couple of cold drinks sounds far preferable to traipsing round a rainy British city centre!

Worksadness · 08/10/2024 17:28

Bet you’ll be lying by the pool with a cocktail thinking - gosh, so wish I was in Manchester! (No disrespect, dear Manchester!) Enjoy!

Chewbecca · 08/10/2024 17:29

Book the flights first, or right away, they may go up!

Def Lamzarote, and take the bus to Playa Blanca.

It’s a lovely island with lovely weather.

kellyoj · 08/10/2024 18:22

Just booked the flights ahhhh
I'm excited
I know it's only 2 full days but better than a kick up the backside isn't it

Our main holiday isn't till next July and it felt so far away so this is a nice little in between break

Thankyou
I would of put off booking

Glad you've booked! I was coming on to say the Manc Xmas markets are utter shite, please do not waste all that money on coming here! (unless for some reason you love paying triple the price for some cheap tat you can get on Amazon, endless stalls selling the same thing, wading through crowds, and getting a dribble of mulled wine for a tenner or more). I hear the York one is decent.

Comedycook · 08/10/2024 18:30

I'd totally go.

Thursdaygirl · 08/10/2024 20:04

I’m now browsing short breaks in Lanzarote ….
