Vinted - So toxic!

Just that really. Is it just me or has anyone else had a horrendous experience of Vinted? I sell a lot of baby, toddler and young children clothes, have done okay, never had an issue until this last week. It’s as if all the buyers have turned into massive CFs.

People asking to send straight after they’ve bought! Being called a C**t because their payment didn’t go through so they missed out on a well sought after item of clothing. People trying to scam, messages of abuse when declining ridiculous offers, and I mean ridiculous!

Think I might have to call it a day on there, but just wondered if anyone’s noticed this more recently or is it just me???

I have always found Vinted a little... abrupt I guess? I used to feel put out by the low offers and now I just ignore them totally, I don't even reply.
I have to say, I've had more requests to send quickly recently. One recent buyer messaged me as soon as they bought (on Bank Holiday Sunday) asking if I could post that night. Er, definitely not.

Also do most buyers collect items rather than have posted to their home address? The window for collection seems quite small.

Ooh I’ve never had to collect personally when buying but I’ve sold to people who do - don’t know much about the collection windows sorry.

Cannot believe some of the comments I’m reading on here! I’m so sorry some of you have had such awful experiences. I’ve had the sob stories in relation to offering ridiculously low amounts as well as being conned into buying fake Jellycat toys grrr!

Just ignore it OP. Don’t let such odd people get in the way of your successes. Just let it go over your head and keep doing you

i don’t use vinted 👍 prefer amazon.

Chickoletta · 16/09/2024 21:20

I’ve only ever had positive experiences on Vinted.

PixiePirate · 16/09/2024 21:21

Last night I had someone ask if I could guarantee delivery by Friday if they ‘put in an offer’ for one of my items, I replied to say no, I could post today if the bought the item but that timescales for delivery are between them and the courier that they select and pay for.

I’m also getting cheesed off with getting cheeky resellers offering me 60% of the selling price for items I’ve just listed, and then hassling me for a reply when I ignore the requests. I don’t get it when people say it’s not cheeky to send such low offers. I think it’s rude and I often block them without responding.

It’s the sellers I can’t stand . So many lazy lazy sellers. Purchased so much where it’s just a total ghosting and then have to wait ages until the money is refunded.

That would have been me 12 months ago, Vinted just stopped notifying me things had sold and it wasn’t until I went into the app to sell something, I discovered 3 sales!

Just had that happen and the worst of it is cost of postage sending it back and unable to leave a bad (deserved) review!

StarDolphins · 16/09/2024 21:43

I buy & sell on Vinted & I must say, everyone has been really lovely! I never accept cheeky offers & I don’t offer less hardly ever unless i feel it’s way over priced but usually I just pay what its up for.

Terracata · 16/09/2024 21:46

You have to be savvy to spot the scams. Lots of throwaway names like terra528ly39xx for example. I buy my 5yo a lot of football kits and many are scammers.

Apart from this it's all fine

Heatherbell1978 · 16/09/2024 21:56

I've been selling for 3 years and never experienced any of that. Most I've had is cheeky offers which I just decline

EverybodyWantsTo · 16/09/2024 22:06

I've never got people getting offended by offers. Of course, you don't have to accept offers (but maybe make that clear in the listing), but if the very act of someone making a 40% offer offends you, then sell elsewhere as it's part of vinted!

HanaLeigh · 16/09/2024 22:14

No nothing except for a couple of late postings, after I had enquired before buying if the item could be sent quickly.

If the seller had said no, I'd have moved on. An small annoyance but worth it for the range of clothing to buy and the massive savings I have made.

No, I’ll keep making a decent part time wage from it but will carry on ignoring and/or blocking the CF’s who keep adding 50p to their ridiculously low offers, and accepting the reasonable ones as and when I choose to.

Offers are part of the property market too, but I’m pretty sure that most people would get fed up with receiving several offers each day at 40% less than the asking price.

Wouldhavebeenproficient · 16/09/2024 19:37

Yes, I've had a couple of, "sorry I can't find it." If you can't find it, why are you selling it? And how did you get a picture of it?!

Because people list things and then forget about it. I was looking for something specific on there yesterday and I found one for sale that was listed 18 months ago. It’s highly unlikely the seller still has the item, it’ll have either gone in the bin or to a charity shop and they have forgotten to delete the listing.

Lovethatforyouhun · 17/09/2024 09:07

I’m sticking to ebay!

FlatWhiteExtraHot · 17/09/2024 09:09

OP are you the same person who posted the thread the other day trying to get people to slate Vinted?

I recently ordered a top from Vinted, to my home address (as when I ordered to a pick up point I ran out of time to collect and it got sent back)
I’ve had an email to say it’s arrived and I have until the 21s to click the ‘everything is okay’ button.
But I’m away until the 23rd.
So what happens if everything is not okay? Do I lose the chance to request a refund??

LadyLhama · 02/02/2025 14:15

Vinted is pretty terrible to deal with as a seller or buyer. The customer service is shocking. They will do anything to keep their sale fee.

If that means telling a buyer there was no problem with a significantly not as described item they'll do it. Or not fixing technical issues so sellers never get their funds released. Or even just hanging on to funds as long as they can making a profit off the interest. It's just getting worse!

They don't care about scam sellers using fake pictures as long as they get a sale complete.

Vinted is a good idea in principle but the fact they charge a buyer protection fee but do everything they can not to protect the buyer says everything you need the know about the company.

BarneyRonson · 02/02/2025 14:42

A low offer on Vinted always strikes me as an invitation to haggle, I usually get a purchase after a low offer, after a satisfying to and fro of varying numbers! I’ve not had any rude customers yet. Vinted themselves are conspicuous by their absence though whenever there is a postal glitch.

LadyLhama · 10/02/2025 17:47

Vinted themselves seem to be out to take advantage of people who use the app. If you get a good seller/buyer you are fine. But I think it's ridiculous they charge a buyer protection fee yet offer no actual buyer protection.

Everyone I know in person who uses vinted has been scammed and vinted do nothing about it. They're really not a reputable company.

Positively supporting the scammers as long as they can keep their bit of the fee.

I'd rather use eBay as they have a very robust buyer protection policy. Or other sites like depop or etsy.

AutumnalSunshineXX · 10/02/2025 18:44

I have bought and sold loads on there with no problem.......

But.... i did gave someone claim a dress was damaged - it was brand new! So fucking annoying.

Lots of sellers asking for stupid prices.

Their "fake" reporting service is useless. They never agree it's a fake... completely obvious things like a plastic "le creuset " made in China.
