Best cleaner for wheelie bins?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 31/07/2024 11:20

My wheelie bin reeks and I have to sort it out as the only place it can go is outside my kitchen window 🤢

I re bagged everything and washed it out yesterday but the smell is still there. I need something that will really deodorise and make it smell nice again. Baking soda isn't cutting it!

You must have a massive dishwasher.

Bin buddy powder is good.

@LindorDoubleChoc

Catch yerself on. One bag every three weeks isn’t going to change much 🙄

White vinegar.

I regularly spray mine inside and out with peppermint oil mixed with water in an old spray bottle- it does help

That's a good idea.

I looked a Jeyes but it was a bit pricey on Amazon, so cleaned it out again with soapy water and some vinegar and have it a good spray with Aldi Fresh Linen disinfectant spray- worked like a charm . Clearly I didn't know the difference between cleaner and disinfectant 😂

I pay a man too, £3 a fortnight!

Buy wheelie bin black bags so if anything from the kitchen bin bags leaks it leaks into the bag rather than on the bin itself!

We have bin cleaners who follow the bin lorry round every second collection (so every 6 weeks here) at £4 a clean. Worth every penny. In between I pour some zoflora into the bin after the other collection and swirl it round with a kettle full of boiling water. I lie - I get ds (22) to do it!!
