Sneeze patterns?!

So I may be totally on my own here, and just bear in mind that I am autistic, but I find sneezing completely fascinating! How everyone has a different sounding sneeze, how some people always sneeze a certain amount of times, how some people “hold their sneeze in (I think it’s called stifling), some people have loud sneezes, some quiet. It just blows my mind. I find myself paying attention to the way people sneeze and there is just something that sparks my curiosity.

so all that being said - tell me about your sneezes please? Are you a one and done? Do you have one of those “dad” sneezes? Do you do quiet sneezes? Are you loud and proud? Is it always a certain amount? Do you find sneezing satisfying (I do!) or do you find it an inconvenience?

let me know!!

Me, personally, I usually always do three at a time! Quite loud (I can’t make them quieter), and very satisfying!!

Fairly loud - if l try and make them quiet l end up biting my tongue. The crisp thing is quite recent but so random!

It is a particular flavour or any crisps?! Maybe something in the ingredients?

I find sneezing really satisfying. I hate it when you get the feeling you're going to sneeze, but then you don't. Confused

Yes that’s the worst!!!!

You’re welcome. I love hiccups too, except for the disappointment of waiting for the next one when it doesn’t happen.

I don’t like the hiccups - they hurt!! Would much rather sneeze than hiccup!

Funny thread!
I love a good sneeze, I'm totally in the AAAAAASHOOOOOO camp!

haha! I’m not trying to be weird but it’s something that I genuinely find interesting! Sneezes feel SO good!! And I just like hearing how different everyone’s sound etc

I have a lot of allergies and sneeze a lot. I hate it! I wish I wasn't so sneezy. It's normally just one or two at a time but I will occasionally have a fit where they just seem to keep going.

I have a friend who does these cute little "chew" sneezes but does like 15 in a row rapid fire.

Def the stronger flavours like s & v

I’m sorry you suffer! What allergies do you have? I’m lucky and have no allergies! I’d like to be sneezier!

ah that sounds cute! Lots of cute sneezes!

I hate sneezing. I have zero sneeze control, and dread potentially sneezing in public.

I also have a brain injury (cerebral palsy) and wonder if this is what makes it hard for me to control my sneezes. I would happily never sneeze again.

Always panic when I feel myself about to sneeze.

Scorchio84 · 21/07/2024 16:01

I hate perfomative sneezes same as yawns (usually men) I just sneeze quitely but with a normal "achoo" sound, my friend sneezes like a cat 😆

ItsCasual · 21/07/2024 16:01

I love this thread @CLR1313!

My daughter is autistic and she is very interested and amused by our different sneezes 😁

Hahaha yes I agree with the yawns! I’m not sure people can help their sneezes though!

Thank goodness I am not the only person!!!! I don’t know why I am like this but it’s something I’ve always taken notice of!

Oh my actual GOD seriously! I've had to do handstands up against my hall wall & try to drink water in an attempt to get rid of them @CLR1313 & don't get me started on when my son has them 😡

I luckily don’t get them too often thankfully!! But yes, when someone else has them, I want to throttle them!! Would much rather some had “the sneezes” than “the hiccups”

Yes sneezes end after a few it's not the same as the prolonged agony of having OR listening to hiccups

I sneeze when I'm full up, so does my Mom, I presumed everyone did until I was in my twenties and mentioned it at work.

Me and my ds are like this, it drives my dh mad as we sneeze a lot when full 🤣
Dh never gives any indication that he’s about to sneeze and it gives me a fright every time he does it, especially when we are in the car 🙈

frecklejuice · 21/07/2024 16:42

I find it so difficult to sneeze and it can sometimes take me 2 days before it finally comes out! I always have to look at the light or sunshine to make it happen but when I feel it coming if anyone near me makes a noise or I feel them looking at me then it goes away. When it finally happens it feels amazing and if I'm at home I let it out nice and loud 😂

I kinda wish I sneezed when I am full cos it would stop me over eating haha! I never realise when I’m full!

That’s interesting to know! I don’t think I make an “achoo” sound or a “hiccup” sound!

why aren’t you supposed to pinch your nose?

If you pinch your nose to try and stop a sneeze it increases the pressure and damage blood vessels (although I've never done this)
